if you had 12 year olds with machete's , and men killing babies, you'd beat a prisoner in the drop of a hat. people need to learn social norms develope in society, and society changes depending on where you are. in a 1st world country, society leaves enforcement up to police, and legal systems, but in 3rd world nations, people dressed like a carpenter beat the hell out of criminals. its no different than looking back in history and judging peoples actions with a perspective from the modern age. it seems cruel and harsh, but at the time it was a different society.
