When it comes right down to it battle ships are a waste of money and men and women.

"Unsinkable"
We learned that lesson with the Titanic. She IS made of iron, and she WILL sink.

This is the first documentary on Yamato I have seen where the narrator actually pronounced the name correctly [ya ma tou] rather than [Ya mar toe]

I love it when history videos are educational but aren’t completely professional and have their cracks of jokes and wit.

You guys earned yourselves a sub 😂

At one time, the Yamato was a great battleship. She fought nobly, and to the end. Though rust & decay have taken away her once sleek beauty, the legend remains bright, a legend of bravery and sacrifice. Now, just as the ancient ship appears again, the legend will come alive again....a legend and a ship, that will save Earth.

In the movie, "Tora, Tora, Tora", a conference of officers involved in planning the Pearl Harbor attack takes place aboard the Yamato. One officer remarks, "ANYTHING which FLOATS can be SUNK. The UNSINKABLE battleship is a MYTH." Prophetic.

Seriously good content. One point of contention though. At that point in the war, the Japanese didn't underestimate US material capability nor did they never really expected Yamato to make it to Okinawa. It was more a matter of the IJN surface forces saving face. As the other services were putting forth their best effort, the IJN remaining wasn't seen as holding up their end of it when it came time to defend Okinawa. Not that they could with how beat to 💩they were after years of war, but they were asked to do "something" along the lines of the other branches and this was what they could do. Most of the commanders of the fleet knew it was a one way mission, but felt it was a waste of resources better kept for the defense of the home islands.

But what Hirohito wanted, Hirohito got. The rest is history.

I really enjoyed this video! Im not Into war stories normally but this story was clearly so much better than any other. So I subbed. Partly down to the 3D graphics, and also the narration. Really well done. Im into UE5 for making a cinematic/ filmic music video. Used After effects a bit too, but do lots of thumbnails..
