Radio sounds really strong now!!
ОтветитьNice job big thumbs up mate
ОтветитьNothing like solving a problem. Hey it's George. Went to flee smart with you once. Doing great. Moved but still have house in NC.
ОтветитьGlad to see another video from you! Shoot me an email when you can, I’d like to come up and see you sometime! I’m in GA now.
ОтветитьI wonder how many radios are thrown out because of silly faults like this?
ОтветитьTHOSE DIRTY TUBES SOCKETS! They should taken out and shot!(with WD40) Thanks for the GREAT! videos. Carl
Ответитьthanh you great video and if you help me In my store there are no stores for the old radio capacitors what are the possible alternatives or current condensers now
ОтветитьRadio works great now! I love tube battery portables. I've taken Zenith tube T.O.'s with my homebrew battery to the beach in Corolla NC on vacation. Folks snap their necks seeing it operate!
ОтветитьI restored a portable Zenith radio years ago and had the same problem as this. I thought it was the 1L6, but cleaned the pins and sockets real good and the radio sparked right up. Good job.
ОтветитьThank you for posting these videos, I really enjoy learning from them
ОтветитьGreat video, but a video about your power supply is mandatory!!
ОтветитьEvery one of your videos is a treasure. I always learn something new, plus I didn't have to spend the hours or days fussing & cussing to get there. Thanks.
ОтветитьVery nice little radio and fix! I enjoyed the troubleshooting!
ОтветитьAnother good video, Rick. Reminding us that it could always be a simple problem.

I just purchased one just like it. Where would I purchase a small 60 volt battery to go in it ?
ОтветитьHad same problem with a g.e. Radio ,sprayed deoxit 5 into the tube sockets ,and I have a asortment of small brush that will fit into the tube sockets and cleaned no more problem ,thanks for your video
ОтветитьI just got one exactly like that only it's a little bit smaller but it's got the same dial in the same number of tubes I'm going to put some 9 volts in series when I find out what the B voltage is supposed to be
ОтветитьMy grandfather had a similar version of that same radio, but never heard it work. He said the B battery was too expensive. I was too young to know that you could series up a bunch of standard 9v batteries to get by. Like 7 would make about 63 volts. It's cool that because of the tiny wire filaments, the radio starts to play almost immediately.
ОтветитьThanks for this video. Greatly appreciated. I've got one of these on the bench and it's got low voltage on some of the tubes and I'm struggling to figure out what's wrong. I noticed that the 1U4 in Rider's and Sams both show pin 4 as not connected but on the physical socket pin 5 is not connected. Looks like it's never been connected from the factory. Can you confirm yours is the same? I'm thinking maybe the pentode is wired as a triode but not sure. Again thanks for the video. Great to see your process.
