Damn, NO ONE knows about Jean Michel Jarre lol I love his albums, the rendez vouz album was like the soundtrack to my college years
ОтветитьDaniel did such a epic job on the Dark crystal AOR soundtrack
ОтветитьOne of the best in my bag ever, only downside its going to bankrupt me!
ОтветитьThe Steve Jobs soundtrack is my everyday writing soundtrack. It's dope to see his influences, they make total sense
ОтветитьI have almost all the albums he picked 😂😂😂 passion is the best soundtrack together with blade runner
ОтветитьFrom now on I'm a fan of this guy......EXQUISITE TASTE !!!!!!
ОтветитьBeen researching Pemberton for my college project. Most exciting film composer- hope to emulate his sound well.
ОтветитьJean Michel Jarre? This guy’s got great taste! I’m 25 and big on electronic music.
JMJ’s cosmic dream like melodies on Oxygene still sound like the future.
Knowing it potentially inspired Spider-Verse soundtracks is everything I need.
I have never seen or heard anyone recommending the Peter Gabriel soundtrack. I love that album so I explored every pick I did not know. Founds some great ones. Thanks Daniel.
ОтветитьThanks to DJ Three for introducing me to this show. I'll be back!
ОтветитьThis dude has good taste. Those FSOL albums are amazing.
ОтветитьNice guy. Humble despite massive achievement.
Ответитьheck yes, my favourite group (FSOL) gets the spotlight right away
ОтветитьPemberton honestly deserved the Oscar for best score for ATSV
ОтветитьAmazing selection. Off to listen to a load of things I had forgotten about. Keep up the good work Amoeba. ❤
ОтветитьPassion OST for the win.deep cuts all round.
ОтветитьAwesome to see this and to see Daniel give props to FSOL at the top! "Lifeforms" has been unjustly slagged by way too many snooty Pitchfork critic types and who jumped on the "IDM" bandwagon way after FSOL moved on. It's also great how Daniel dives into more than just one record from many of these artists, but is sharing more about their body of work.
Great composer. Many times I'll watch a film or TV program of late and go, "who did this!?" and it's Daniel. For example, his score for National Geographic's "The Rescue" is fantastic. Ha, love Ludwig too and adore his "Oppenheimer" score, and very funny how he plays into the superhero vs. supervillain archetypes. But Daniel is being maybe a little too modest? Different knives in the drawer, different spirits. Can't see Ludwig doing as great a job with "Spider-verse" to be honest.
Also love that he hits Peter Gabriel's "Passion" -- a life-changing headphone journey for anyone who takes it. Changed my life too. And did not know about JMJ's "Zoolook," sounds great. Going to pick it up.
One of the other comments here complains that Daniel made his WIMB more personal and biographical, spanning a life of influences versus what's got him going now. Focus without focus.
I personally appreciate the deeper and more emotional journey Daniel takes us on -- he's a storyteller in tune with the timeless, not a tourist. Keep kicking butt, Mr. Pemberton!
Great taste in music; highly questionable taste in clothing.
Ответитьi love this guy. i wouldnt be the same without the bad guys soundtrack. i would give my life for this guy!
ОтветитьSo much to listen to from this 😊
ОтветитьWhat is blud wearing
Ответитьcool choices!
ОтветитьI forgot about moondog. I put the CD on my amazon list!
ОтветитьI'm a bit disappointed he talks about so many great soundtracks and doesn't mention Tangerine Dream's soundtracks for Thief and Sorcerer.
ОтветитьYup, Zoolook is killer
ОтветитьLoved the selection...
ОтветитьDiscovered Pemberton way back in 94 when he released on Pete Namlook's Fax label he was only 13 or so I believe! Great to see he's progressed to a Hollywood composer & a very humble and interesting fun person. Love his selections, many have been a big influence for me. J Barry, Harold Budd, FSOL, Vangelis etc. Hope to visit your store again soon, been a few years as I travel from Ireland.
ОтветитьTremendous bonus points for Ommadawn, the best Mike Oldfield album and one that is almost never talked about anywhere.
Ответитьwhat we need to do is create a powerful sense of dread. the longer the note the more dread.
Ответить🎶Great musical insight from the genius of Daniel Pemberton.
ОтветитьSo nice to see Harold Budd and the pavilion of dreams listed. I’ve not known anyone that knows of that album 💿
ОтветитьOne of my favourite ever What's in my bag episodes. 🎶
Ответитьwhat about Tangerine Dream
ОтветитьI bet he would love Ulver
ОтветитьThis guy picked some cool sounding sh*t, and the only thing I recognized is Oldfield.
ОтветитьF s o l ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьHarold Budd….great choice, Daniel !
ОтветитьThis guy is so underrated, the music for king arthur is phenomenal and addictive
ОтветитьHaha... I just finished listening to Pavilion of Dreams like an hour ago. Beauty...
ОтветитьDid not expect FSOL. Wow!
ОтветитьGreat wimb episode btw.. thank You for your soundtrack work!
ОтветитьIf you want to read the Moondog biography by Robert Scotto Process media publishers. It's a little racist but it delves into his life.
ОтветитьLoved his Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance theme 👌
ОтветитьPemberton calling Ludwig Göransson his rival was adorable. Loved hearing him gush about other composer's work.
ОтветитьThanks to Daniel my musical horizons widened and some cherished memories associated with musical compositions resurfaced. Jean Michel Jarre and Moondog are welcomed back and I was smitten off my feet by Isaac Hayes. Thanks Amoeba for inviting Daniel!
ОтветитьWhat an incredible episode. The picks! The context! The personal stories! Great job.
Time to go check out some late 80’s Vangelis which would have been like kryptonite to me at the time.
Seems like people have two ways of doing ‘What’s in my bag’ either they go record shopping and talk about things they currently find interesting or what they’ve taken pot luck on or they talk about records they already own in a story of my life way like this guy. This is boring the former option is much more interesting
Ответитьeverything he picked was great. i am impressed. these videos are always a pleasure.
ОтветитьI wonder if that's my old copy of Passion - I unloaded a bunch of CDs at Amoeba not so very long ago, and that was one of them. (I regret it of course - he's correct to say it's great.)
