Toyota Grand Highlander VS Lexus TX comparison // Battle of the big boys!

Not having the option in the higher trims for bench seating for 8 passengers is really confusing for me. I actually bought a platinum highlander last year and didn't notice it had bucket seats until I was about to drive off and turned right back around and gave the car back. This is a huge selling point for me and I know they offer the bench seating in the limited addition on the grand highlander as well as the mid trim in the Lexus, but I wanted the top trim. Can someone please tell them they would sell more cars by offering this one little option? Makes absolutely no sense to me.

Their SUVs are getting too big.

Living out west we can't go full EV yet. We really like the look and interior of the Telluride but a condition of getting rid of the minivan is fuel efficiency. Grand Highlander hybrid limited it is.

TX doesn’t worth 70-80k $$ range. The seats, interior, outer looks, pickup (non hybrid), noise inside cabin ALL ARE WORST.
Do not waste your hard earned money on this CrAP.

Can you please tell me if the TX is significantly quieter than the grand Highlander? Will I notice any difference in cabin noise? How about body roll? Thanks much.

Trying to find moms new ride, she has had a couple lexus models before but rhid thing has a face only a mother could love. I think this thing might be a hard sell over the grand highlander.

Toyota and Lexus both are really making you bend over and spread em wide if you want a trailer hitch. Also the GH has that light gray and portobello interior for the hot climate areas so you don’t burn your buns after giving up to get a trailer hitch…!

tx is simply ugly, i was jumping around to book it since i need 6 seats. But its so dated shape i failed to convience myself

The Lexus TX 350 and 500h are already built on a very very stable and strong foundation for these SUV'S are built on the Toyota Grand Highlander.

The only problem is.... nobody wants a 4cylinder turbo in a car that heavy; and NO ONE wants a hybrid. I will never buy a hybrid until the EPA Commies force me...

I love toyota and lexus. Actually, my fav car is Lexus. But, im dissapointed with both. Dont like the turbo engines and i like seats for 8 and neither one offers these. Such a shame!!!

I hate car manufacturers who have no bench seat option in their higher trims and offer only bench seats. What if someone wants bench seat and also extra features over a base trim.

We just bought my husband a Lexus RX 350h. We were debating between that or the Toyota Highlander hybrid. In the end we went with Lexus because they have greater inventory and sell below MSRP with dealership discounts. In the US, Toyotas are really hard to come by and sell between 5-10k over MSRP. So if I had to choose between a Lexus TX500h or a Toyota Grand Highlander 500h, I'd go with Lexus because I might get a dealership discount and it may end up being equal or cheaper than the Toyota equivalent. It's pretty crazy.

GH looks way better than the TX and the interior is not much worse.

It's very simple. If you have the money, buy the Lexus for more luxury, refinement, and brand name. If not, get the Toyota and be practical. Another factor will be the interior/exterior design. In this case, I like the Grand Highlander exterior and TX for the interior.

The PHEV has the bulletproof 3.5L engine. Wish that would have been available in the GH. But I bought the GH hybrid, which is fantastic. Have yet to wish it had more hp. Getting 34-40 mpg in everyday driving.

I was hoping for an 8 passenger plug in hybrid, at least a bench option so I could keep the third folded for the dogs

If you sit in 3rd row of Toyo an adult the seat belt is under your but. Lexus you can actually use it.

It always bothers me why would they make such a big vehicle for family and make it 6 seats. At least, more seats should be optional if someone asks for it.

As great as the Grand Highlander and TX are, I'd still lean towards the Sienna. Up to 8 passenger seating in the Sienna with AWD availability, and equipment wise there isn't anything in the GH that I'm really missing out on in the Sienna. The Sienna is also cheaper at the top trim and can haul more cargo with its well behind the third row when in 7/8 passenger form. It just seems illogical to opt for the Grand Highlander when the Sienna can do everything somebody could ask for in most driving situations and at a cheaper price point and offer more cargo and passenger room. 🤷‍♀️

If I am buying a car with 3 rows I want 7-8 passenger seats, if you can squeeze in a 9th one even better lol. I don't care if you tie him up on the roof as long as it's legal.

I really do wish they made it an 8 passenger. I hope they come out with it. That is a selling point for me personally.

Both are big disappointments to me. All I ask for is a 3 row SUV, with realistic hybrid mileage and a dark brown interior... The Toyota MAX only gets 26 MPG (so no hybrid mileage) and is the only model that offers the Portobello interior. The TX has a nice Peppercorn interior, but no hybrid offers it. In my view, offering only a black or grey interior takes them out of the luxury car category and puts them with the KIA/Hyundai class vehicle.
