I don't understand why they didn't use hand lines to attack the fire. All they used were the ladder/tower trucks.

Well this response and attack was downright embarrassing. Lets clog the drive with 3 ladders who all need a water supply! Hows about an engine with 1000gal on it? Couple well placed handlines could have done some real work here.

@JNR FIRECO LLC - Great work by the Aerial team, unfortunate loss for the home owner. They are not moving slow, they are doing what they can as the fire hazard for the department was to great. Defensive tactics at this point.

I hope they got the Dogs out and I pray for the Family who owned this once beautiful home I hate seeing or hearing about people losing everything especially things that cannot be replaced.

I would never understand, why US firefighters are slower than anybody else on earth. No one is hurry, no one is cares of somebody house, property, they just are they and waiting, and methodical waiting and waiting..........

Is a very nice house, but I wouldn't call that a mansion. If you have been to Coral Gables, FL you'll know what I mean.

Fires move very fast and sometimes they just have to let it burn but yes it does move fast especially when its very dry. thank you to all firefighters for risking your lives to save others this job is very dangerous, thank you to all firefighters that have died in a fire. stay safe everyone.

WHY is it taking so long to put this fire OUT!!! FINALLY, after watching this for the past 5mins - and where were the owners???

why does it take so long for there to be water and to fight the fire and if there is, it is not around the house. in the Netherlands, the fire is extinguished immediately upon arrival of the first car and then the next car and fire-fighting vehicles go to the front and behind and with a ladder truck from above. In the Netherlands, all fire engines carry water with them and can start extinguishing immediately. The hoses are coiled in the cars.

5 minutes into the video and we have 3 trucks and who knows how many firefighters on site and zero water being poured onto the fire. Shit at that point you might as well let it burn the rest of it down and call it a day.

After watching a number of these house-fire and fire dept response videos, homeowners really need to be prepared to fight the fire themselves for the first 20 minutes after fire discovery and 911 call, otherwise the fire will have spread to the whole house by the time the fire dept gets adequate water on it. Because of these videos, I've added fire hoses or extinguishers on all levels of my house, and am shopping for a homeowner-grade self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) that will give me 20 minutes of air in working conditions.

Also, I am thinking that it would be a good idea to organize a firefighting plan with the neighbors so everyone knows where the exterior hoses are on all houses, and so neighbors with a first response plan will know what to do in the event of any house-fire on the block.

I don't understand the lack of fire dept urgency I typically see in these videos while the structure is unnecessarily destroyed. I've never been a firefighter, but I have been on teams of men in dangerous and urgent situations, and we always moved fast, not casually.

What a waste of a beautiful home, I don't know why these firemen risk their lives going into a house not knowing if it will collapse on them why know just try to put the fire out from the out side, so many fire fighters lost their lives going into a house when they didn't have to not worth your life

Appears only 2nd story at first. 3 ladders ,but no water? Slow. When 1st ladder used, crew on backside, safety issues. That's what it appears.
