League of Legends Had Fun Modes But They're Gone Forever...

if a mode doesnt get played it will be removed. easy as that. dont get me wrong, im actually one of the few players that activly played TT. i was on a high diamond elo in TT even before i hit gold on summoners rift. the reason for that is that TT wasnt as complex and the balancing was basically non excistent. play 3 mobile bruisers and youre good to go. simple as that. even as or maybe because the game mode wasnt as complex the player base was REALLY small, espeically in rankeds. chances are that if u hit mid gold tier you would be matched against the same teams over and over and over for weeks simply because there was no competetion.
dominion was even worse. i personally never ever had fun just in a single dominion match nor have i ever spoken to a player that liked it. i know there we some people because ive seen someone in a match with about 1500 wins back in the days, but this player base was so small that you had to que for about 15 mins+ and youd have the same players again and again. even if u came back after like 10 weeks not playing dominion youd see players in your first match that uve played with 3 months ago.

tbh cycling the different modes nowadays is the best they could do. saves money due to less server capacity needed and people wont get burned out on a mode as fast. its simply a changing fresh alternative to play from time to time. i love urf and i loved the OG doom bots which made me spam match after match but i also know that it got boring after a couple of days. those fun modes dont really have the potential to personally evolve and get better because there is no balancing behind it. so the replayability is not that high.

ARAM was NOT the only official game mode made by Riot that started as a community custom game, both Hexakill and One For All both started with people using exploits on the client. I remember searching the custom games list to try and find a One for all lobby.

nope, what keeps me coming to league of legend isn't perfect game design and perfect mecanics and gameplay. creep blocs isn't funny. Mythics are awfull design, and most the games evolve around the same strategies: fight for dragons and barons, and try to macro better than your opponent while they are respawning (and yet most people don't figure this stuff out, and just try to fight the whole game in pointless teamfights ... that's also not one thing that is keeping me around). The truth is, we log LOL, because it feels great to be able to pvp in a game where you don't have to look for your opponent location for very long vefore you get that sweet fights. It's pure adrenaline and dopamine ratio. If those two hormones didn't exist, NOBODY, would play league of legend (and most of the games also to be honnest). It's a freaking battle between my frustration and my pride and selfsatisfaction that brings me back on this game. I play less when I face loosestreaks, with dying champions, and I feel addicted, when I find a cool combo to play with a friend, or a brocken champ I enjoy. That's actually the reason why everyone is so full of himself on this game. This is the perfect game to be an arrogant battle junky that have something to proove to himself.

yeah league has fallen deep over the years .. its a shame , once it was one of the greates games to just log in and have a good time , i started playing end 2010/early 2011 and boi oh boi it was great , we dont had Aram back then as a game mode , we organized that privat on summoners rift , all mid only heal/clearvioence and flash/ghost , good times .. 3v3 was rocking , personally i liked it more than 5v5 to be honest . I played for roughly 5-6 years but somehow Riot achived it that it become stale , they took away the old rune system wich was a ok system in my openion and than came the loot crates , they messed up some really nice champions , cause there where not "balanced" like the old ryze captain Piano himself , items gone missing over the years , gamemodes vanished as you said in your video ..I'm not even sure if league still has seasonal summoners rift maps like the "halloween/fall" or the wintermap ? .. its just a soulless game these days , really dissapointing

Hey guys arent they making MMORPG? That could potentialy be a cool PVE/PVP <- (only if want to) game.

I know this video is now years old however with the reverting of items. And the update to bots Ai.
might actually be the time for a pve game mode to comeback.

Overcharge and Doom bots should honestly be permanent modes, they were actually fun. The RPG was decent, Nexus Blitz was good with those minigames.

They could totally make it happen that many more fun modes could be palyable at the same time.
when the only reason for them not doing it is "only 5% of the player base played these modes" (we ignore the tons and tons of inactivesmurf in this calculation), then they could just make them more interesting! Its not that fucking hard riot! Millin dollar company should totally be able to buy more serevrs if that was an issue.. (hmmm... we also ignore the clash problmens btw hehehe...)
Just make a point or mission system for the fun modes. Earn rewards like icons or chromas or anything! It could be so easy!

I never played the original twisted treeline, but I always liked playing a few games of the updated one every once a while. Still sad it’s gone :(

3v3 was the best gamemode and hoenstly after they deleted it the game was much less fun for me. I kinda just kept playing because i already had played so much before and had so much unlocked, so many skins bought and so on. I started playing more ranked as league more and more pushed the community to do so but started getting frustrated and had much less fun in the game soon after resulting in my account getting banned later. It was a real blessing. The game was and still is simply no longer any fun. Arams with friends are still enjoyable, but i feel myself getting drawn to play sums rift or rankeds when i have nothing to do sometimes and finally uninstalling the game a couple of years ago was a really good decision. Sums rift is just not fun and most of the playerbase seem to have a similar mindset to mine when i got myself banned, which is just super negative.

The Assasin mode, was the CLOSEST to Meele-Only custome mode.

my favorite custom 'gamemode' was Death Race. Where you would hug the wall and as a team race around the rift, using abilities to tank towers. team who laps the most, with the most wins.

When it comes to the PVE modes, there is a quote from a game dev that I cannot recall who said but it was this.

"Players will optimize the fun out of your game if you let them."

This video came out way before Arena but I thought Arena was an absolute blast and the most fun I've had playing League. I wouldn't mind that being a permanent mode at all.

To add to The Poro King game mode, it allowed you to buy a snack and each snack, if fed to Poro king, it made him cast an ability. There were 4 I think in total. Giant firebreath, some artiliery type hearts that slowed on impact, then shield that made Poro King jump forward and then back, knocking enemies up and lastly poros he would shoot forward behind enemies and if they hit a champion it would push them toward the poro king.
Anyways, I have been playing this game since summer 2010, and the most fun I ever had was the Odyssey. It had the augments, the abilities were powered up, Malphite having the ability to push and catch enemies with his ult and stop only when he hit an obstackle. So with a good ult, you were able to gather half of the map and Yasuos then all ulted and killed everything. I am sad that it will never come back. And the reason from the developers was that the engine LoL uses gets regular updates. And for them to upkeep it is just too much.

They should make legacy server with old champions and items

Just to clearify, Rocket League also has some modes that are never available, there was a mode I used to love which they only released for 1 month every 2 years, I forgot it's name because I didn't play RL for a long time but it was awesome and I loved it but it was so rare I decided to quit the game.

they removed 90% of these modes because no one liked them/people prefered 5v5

in my like decade of playing this shit game, ive found that no one likes anything other than 5v5, even urf gets boring after a week which is why they cycle it out
the core gameplay is stuck being 5v5 and no amount of videomaking or even marketing by riot will ever change that, thats why they removed all of these modes

cause no one ACTUALLY played them, or they were way too unbalanced to leave in (3v3, urf)
its just really easy to say how much we "miss" them when they're gone

even arena, i hit gladiator in arena by literally playing singed every game because it isn't properly balanced
people dont like playing gamemodes with no ranked or unbalanced ranked, which is every single gamemode theyve made other than summoners rift

I cannot express enough how much I enjoyed the Star Guardian game mode and Doom Bots, I know they had their limitations on what they could do, but I've wished both to return ever since they left us.

Ultimate spellbook and Urf is number one is mtmy health. And don't need anything else.

I miss hexakill. Use to team up with my cousins and best friend. We'd easily pull 8 hours of gameplay in a day back then 😢 thought to even do an hour lol

Old video but even still, funny that the OP thinks or isn't giving credit to the fact that ARAM specifically has been a mode that existed LONG before LoL ever even made it a thing. DotA did it, HoN did it but for a fact LoL is not the OG of any of its game modes, it all stemmed from DotA along with a few other games that were released during the same period that all came from a warcraft 3 mod.

Black market brawlers is underrated I loved that mode. Choosing what minions i wanted to have in my lane was a fun thing imo.

Guardians of Galaxy was my favourite mode so goos

if they were permanent, eventually people would lose interest in them and the modes would be dead in no time.

I remember how riot did urf, theb one year later tried to make a spoof live during one event where every champion had double cd on their abilites and they moved really slow and hit really slow and it was obviously a skit to show urf but by then we all knew urf already and knew what was going on, i swear those people take 1 step forqard a 2 backwards since i can remember

My favorites gamemodes have been, doombots, thresh dark star game mode and odyssey, PBE are the most fun but gamemodes with different mechanics than usual like the thresh game mode was also fun!
