I live in California, and we have a lot of faries here too.

There's a big notable difference in the feeling of loss of concentration & time h place being changed unreasonable & next thing you know is your 5 miles out of your way h not having any recollection of how you get there.

Once in Widecombe the pixies opend the church kissing gate for me , and because i left the church door open they slamed it shut behind me.

pixies are little invisible people, who protect the trees on dartmore and if you are liable to accidentaly tread on their abode they will untie your boot laces without you knowing they are there, this happend to me and i always double tie my boot laces .
