EXPLANATION: bird likely had little oil in its feathers and due to being wet could not longer take off. some species of birds have less water resistance than others. in other words water doesnt run off every bird like a ducks back. hope this cleared things up for those who want to know why

The bird stayed in the water because it way tied to the back of the boat with a rope which was weighted down. The bird was shark bait and couldn’t fly away.😮
