We could see this tennis every day.. But nooo, everyone wants to hit Bigshots as if that was the only tool you'd have in tennis.. Why not just play All-Court, placing Drops and risky Angle-Shots.. that makes much more fun !

NBC televised this match on Mother's Day 1972. I don't know how one might get a tape of this match, but it's an all-timer. It was considered by many to be the greatest men's match of all time until Borg-McEnroe at Wimbledon in 1980 and it established tennis on TV right before the tennis boom of the 1970s. The highlights tape ran 30+ minutes and included clips from the 1971 and 1972 WCT Finals, both won by Rosewall over Laver [in 4 sets in 1971 and 4-6, 6-0, 6-3, 6-7 (2), 7-6 (5) in 1972].

I watched this match when I was a kid and became a tennis fan for life because of it, greatest I ever saw until Borg-McEnroe 1980 Wimbledon Final...
