Great video but I would have appreciated just a short walk around before it was connected. Vid is 13 minutes long and we get 1 second of the back panel. Please go into depth on how you have it wired up. Someone may not have seen how you have your speaker wire configured. Are you using the OEM power cable? What does Gryphon recommend, etc. Thank you

That's a true statement you made. In the audio upper level, it's more what you like and your needs. I'm happy with my Mac MC501s, which work for me, the best I've owned. Are there better amps out there? Yes. But these 501s work for me. Though the price, size and weight of the Gryphon don't work for me, they fit perfectly for you. Audio is such an individual and subjective hobby, and I'm not sure there's an objective standard by which to judge many aspects of it. But even I can tell that the Gryphon is a killer amp, and I'd probably be blown away if I heard it. It looks every bit as powerful as the specs say it is. Congratulations! Hope you don't change your mind about this new Gryphon, because that would mean you'd have to move it again!😄

In cars there is a saying there is no substitution for cubic inches. I had an SS Camaro with a 6.2 liter V-8 420 hp and 420 torque; at 70 mph it was revving at 1,500 rpm; it was loafing. When people asked what I liked best about it I said the effortlessness. No turbo charged car has ever come close to that feeling. I am guessing this amp will give you the same sense of effortlessness. Isn’t that what we are all seeking; to do things with ease and at once. Enjoy!

Incredible amplifier. The video not so much. You only showed the amplifier for about 2 seconds. The rest of the video was you talking. Not the best way to make an amplifier video.

Hey Jay You're like a pregnant woman . Every day you get a new craving and a new purchase. Next week you will have another new craving and another new favourite. There is nothing objective about this approach. You are like a kid in a giant candy bar, pointing to the next jar, and the next and the next. Where does this all end. Frankly for me it's becoming tedious and some what boring. I'm starting to wonder what value I can extract from your channel in the way of audio when you proclaim your next new favourite product just about every week !

I have owned some Mark Levinson, Audio Research, Classe Audio, etc as well as my favorites: Threshold ... with Snell, Thiel, Vandersteen, VMPS and Wilson speakers .... it is about what a person loves and craves / desires and can afford as well !!! I have a pict of that amp with two reps from Gryphon at Axpona ‘23. Very nice guys and knowledgeable. The Apex is way larger in life compared to pics and vids.

Let`s say I am dissapointed, when you represent Gryphon amplifier again, since I was expecting that Boulder should be the choice? With all respect I mean Gryphon is good shit, but the build quality and design of the Boulder seems to be in a department itself? Maybe it has to do with the economy and deal you can get as much as the sound quality....?

Gryphon had the same set up at the AudioVideo Show in Warsaw (Poland) last year (Wilson's XVX + the Apex + their DAC and preamp) and I must admit i did not want to leave the room. I was completely blasted into smithereens. It sounded like nothing else at the sho, though there were some pretty impressive set ups as well. Congratulations man!!! I wish I had the ressources to do the same.

Never heard that amp in person, but safe to say it’s got to be better than the old Boulder. Never heard a single SS amp that can touch a SET DHT amp but the Gryphon amps I’ve heard in past were coherent and detailed w/decent soundstaging and musicality. I still consider the Pass Aleph 1.2 the best sounding SS amp I’ve ever heard.

The sad part is those Wilson’s are much more efficient than their older designs, there’s no need for massive SS amp. Not going to power them with a SET DHT amp in your room but had you instead chosen a VTL Siegfried you would have experienced the best those speakers will ever be. Maybe you’ll have that opportune while the Wilson’s are still in your home.

Keep an eye on a company called Infigo. Their amplifier, the Method 3 monoblocks, 55k, reportedly sounds very very good. Solid state, class A with a unique biasing system. A very positive review by JVS, no newcomer to the ultra high end, is in Stereophile.

Hi Jay, I was very happy to meet you in Monaco, I'm Italian. I own an Essence, have listened to Apex on 4 separate occasions. I listened to various Boulders too, including the 3060 with CH Precision L10 and Rockport Lyra. I can say that Gryphon Apex + Commander is one of my favorite amplifiers. Keep it up!
