It just happened with 4 Large plants. I had to argue and send photos days apart before the agreed to reship them again. I requested them not to water the succulent plants

I’m not gonna lie I noticed the same thing, but I got one because a friend convinced me to get one off the clearance rack at Lowe’s This specific plant had at least four cuttings in the pot. Only one of those cuttings survived, and then I found a nursery site that was selling them for a reasonable price And I got a few of those because I really wanted a full plant to arrange a hanging basket and the one cutting just took forever to put out a new leaf and new growth

You are gorgeous! Subbing as I see many of Costa Farm plants online are outrageously expensive compared to in the stores.

It's not as much a price increase online as it is a price reduction in the big box stores. They buy in bulk from Costa and so they pay less for plants and can pass some of that on to their customers. Not sure about the size difference in these, but I can only imagine what a contract with a big box store is worth. Just my thought on it, I could easily be wrong.

Yooo, good afternoon Ma'am!
I live in Boone Iowa. Walmart, and 1 other grocery store is all we really have for cacti.

When I decided that cacti is what I want to start hoarding, I really began to take notice of ANYTHING from Costa Farms & Rocket Farms; primarily Costa.

Well, I change my mind; won't go down a spiral today. L0L... My biggest beef with them, is that they do not label any of their cacti properly. It's like buying a plant, and it being labeled as Colocasia.
We know there are tons of differences species of Colocasia. Dragon Scale Colocasia, (small) then Thai Giant Colocasia, which is beautiful and massive.

It took me a year to find 8ut the proper species of some of my cacti. Direction for care are just copied and pasted to everything cacti, when if fact, some of the very cacti they labeled, were the WRONG type of direction.

Maybe I'm just being a little B, but ever since I really took off, loving Cacti, the health, condition, care and species really became important.

I have more faith in Ebay sellers, sending healthy plants, with no surprises, than I do for Costa Farms.

BUT....BUT...If I see a beautiful cactus at wackmart, I won't hesitate to snatch it up. If you pay close attention to their shipments, you will see the rare ornamental cacti, that appeared to had made it in the shipment by mistake. Those will be unlabeled, and sometimes they will be PROPERLY labeled. That's how you know it was a mistake for that cactus to be in the store.

I don't want to bash them, Costa, Rocket, Etc. They are catering to a population, and market, that really arnt concerned with things other than profit.

I am trying to do some digging into Costa and others, for selling clone cacti, that are being passed as origionals.

That's how I ended up here, just trying to go through vids.

Thanks for Sharing You Vid Ma'am :)

I am buying plants in person from the store. Never ordered online. Unless all stores close I will not buy online. Especially now when there is so many varieties of plants appearing in big box stores. I may not be able to have some rare plants but that's fine with me. I visit the garden centers and every once in a while there is something that I find interesting. Just the last few months I got few really cool plants. Besides my collection started to look like botanical garden. I don't need more plants. Keep it simple stupid. That's my advice to anyone who managed to read until the end.

You are the third or fourth person who has all described ordering Costa farms online and having it arrive heavy, and soaking wet. I am curious what your thoughts on this are? And if they are using water weight to make up for less plant, or charge for more shipping idk.

I did buy that plant in a Homedepot and it was so slow getting started growing for me. But the global green has been a thron in my side. I’ve bought four of them and all of them deterated very fast and. I changed the soil in them due to it being sopping wet and found that it was cuttings stuck in the pots that didn’t even have roots on them. With the last one I really checked it out and even pulled on the plant to see what kind of roots it had it was a good root system and when I did the repot it was so different from the first three had been and it’s the only one alive for me.

I just bought 2 in person. One from Lowes and one from Walmart. I'm happy with my 14.99 purchases.

I purchased my Moonlight from Walmart not too long ago. It has 10 cuttings but one is barely hanging on. That's real shadey for Costa to do that......what a bummer! And I always change the soil from big box store purchases! Sometimes nurseries too.

I live in SoCal and I could never find this specific plant or any costa farms plants at any of our local big box stores so I ordered this plant online and I was NOT impressed. Upon arrival two leaves had fallen and the plant had several yellowing leaves and dried up growing points. It has now been about 2 months and my plant is doing much better and beginning to thrive. Love your review by the way 🤗

I've ordered once from Costa last year, both plants were sopping wet. I transplanted right away. Never ordered again. Oh, it was a Pepperonia Frost and a Baby Tear. Both survived but the fact of the smell and water issue and soil all out of the pots it was the worst shipping I've ever seen.

I actually buy the majority of my plants online because I’m disabled and unable to drive. I could have my husband drive me, but he doesn’t have the patience to let me look through and pick the one I want, so it’s just easier that way. So, I’ve tried different companies and found good and not so good things about them. When I saw the prices for Costa Farms, I decided not to order directly from them because I could order a lot of the same plants from Amazon for half the price, and they were the distributor! I ordered two different plants from Amazon and was pleased with both. I’m surprised that they shipped your plants in such poor conditions - especially the first one! You’d think, of all places, that they’d know better! Most of the places I’ve ordered from have a 30 day guarantee and they specifically tell you not to repot the plant because they use good soil and fertilizer when they pot them, and one company even says that you’ll void the warranty if you repot before the 30 days! I don’t know why Costa Farms is so much more expensive to order from directly, but, at this time, there are so many other options, with better prices and healthy, nice sized plants, that I don’t see myself ever ordering from them.
Thank you for sharing your experience with them and it’s great to see you back! 💜💚🪴

That's really interesting. I always wondered why the huge price increase online, but, it's obviously not the best deal at all. thanks for sharing!
