British Highschoolers Try Biscuits and Gravy for the First Time!

Recently we went to the South in the US and had our eyes opened to a bunch of amazing new foods, but there was one thing that we really wanted to introduce to people back home!

So we got the help of a London-based cook from the South, and brought authentic Biscuits and Gravy to a British High School!

US has the best food ,not the processed crap that is!

I have never cared for scones. Glad to hear they don’t like them either!

I’ve never liked sugar in tea and I didn’t know that when you order an iced tea in the south you’re gonna get sweet tea. My companion just laughed at my disgust at how sweet it was and then told me you have to ask for unsweetened tea, good to know. I don’t really even drink soda anymore maybe once in blue moon, but it’s just too much sugar.

The sad thing is that's probably packet gravy. If you had true southern sausage gravy it'd blow their minds.

Soooooo, What are these kids gonna do when they get back home and talk about a Southern Classic with Sweetened Ice Tea ?
That would be even funnier to hear they're parents response.

Lovely to see these british school boys try a classic southern american breakfast - I can’t eat it very often because it is so fattening but love biscuits and gravy for christmas or every once in a while

The wonderful thing about biscuits in the southern USA is they also play well with butter and jelly or honey, just as well as with gravy!

Biscuits and gravy are a hearty breakfast, good on a cold day and 'sticks to your ribs' a saying that means it makes you feel full for a long time. You should break or cut them open into two round halves, put butter on them while they're still warm. Then dip them in your gravy no matter what your meal is. Restaurants don't usually put enough sausage in the gravy so they are better when you make them at home. We also make the gravy with dried beef in it. The gravy part is very simple and versatile. It is just flour, butter, and milk.

Most of the drjnks you showed are quirky. They are not all common or popular. Arizona has too much caffeine in for me. It makes my heartbeat move faster.

Beans and toast don't go together. That color of beans is served usually with a flour tortilla in Mexico and they are mashed. They are cooked twice, which is why they are called RE-FRIJOLES...refried beans.

As a 71-year-old American bachelor, I have cooked 53 turkeys in my life. I would have been nice if the boys actually prepared a Thanksgiving dinner. I would also coach them on traditional side dishes. But for dessert, I would make pumpkin pie and pineapple upside down cake.

Coming from the episode of the high schoolers reacting to British memes where they reacted to a picture of biscuits and gravy to this one is an experience.

We Americans watch this and just feel bad for these Brits. You guys put beans on toast and think that's a good meal....poor kids

Sometimes we put jelly on our biscuits or butter and honey.

Everybody's biscuits and gravy can be slightly different. My husband makes the best B and G. We call it B & G if we are a server taking an order 😉

My mother's from the south where a lot of those dishes originated. Biscuits n' Gravy are a main course; it's not served with fried chicken
