Then why has Suzuki not won a moto GP in a very long time? Every week they have a chance but fail. If the bikes that win on sunday can beat them without a turbo then they can also beat them if both have a turbo. So the excuse you can't run a turbo in GP is unacceptable. I have seen many drag bike runs and Busa does not always win. Not even half the time. I do like Suzuki. A very nice bike for sure. But so are Yamaha and Honda and KTM and Aprilia and Ducati and Kawasaki and BMW and Triumph and many others. No one can claim top unbeatable spot. Thats what makes the sport so great.

Why should they be " gone forever"? If 1000cc will continue surely there is no impediment from dreaded " emissions" to make bigger , less stressed engines of bigger capacity. We see that current Hayabusa selling as donuts. There is demand for physically biggersportsbikes/ hyperbikes. It would be totally stupid for manufacturers to abandon this class.

Own the second generation and most often i cant use the power like i do on my Street Triple. Overpowered is maybe the right word for that bike in normal traffic. Its like trying to drive a rocket with the road filled with not moving objects.

I think the H2R is currently the fastest.

It was really the Honda 750 interceptor that started this trend, one can also argue the Susuki Hans Muth Katana.

I've owned over 40 motorcycles in my lifetime, including the ZX11, Blackbird and the Hayabusa. The Blackbird was a beautiful bike but not really that much faster than the ZX11. The Hayabusa though, that thing was a bloody rocketship. I loved mine but i was riding around like a fucking maniac and with young kids at home I figured it was best that I sell it. Of all the bikes I've owned, that isn the one i miss the most.

I was looking for a GSXR750
when I bought mine.
I had never heard of “Hayabusa”.
I was afraid of it.
But it was Cherry
and the guy
-only one $4500 for it.
He was 5 foot six
and
could barely hold it up at stop lights.
He wanted it out of it.
Once he explained what the motorcycle was.
I put it on the trailer.
I wasn’t happy going home with it.
I thought I was gonna die on this bike.
10 years later, I love it.
And
-still respect her the same.
It’s a very dangerous bike.
But I’ve taken her 192 miles an hour.
-With NO POWER COMMANDER

I asked my mechanic
to put a power commander on my Hayabusa
-during maintenance operation.
When I went to pick it up
I saw “power commander”
was not on the bill.
I asked him why it wasn’t on.
Reply:
“It’s already fast enough.
I’m not going to let you kill yourself”…
He was a good friend of my father
going way back.
But,
It told me
there are mechanics
who will not
make this bike go any faster.
As,
It opens them to liability💡

Blackbird is better.

Though ridden as a motorcycle in the Twisties anything would make this look like an older muscle car , this is really just that a straight line 2 wheel "motorcycle" Same with the other bikes in it's league .

In the 80's had a GPZ 1000RX then come along girls and life. Missed biking so much,. Next bike 14 years later was the Mighty Busa.. OMG!
It made the GPZ feel like a lawn mower.. the sheer power AND handling was light years from the 80's bikes. Tweaked it and saw 211mph from it and even did a track day at Brans hatch.. shredded the rear tyre, but never had so much fun with my trousers' on Best ever bike

Unless Godzilla rose from the ocean and stepped on him, dying while riding a 'busa at 300 MPH is not a freak accident -- and hardly an accident at all.

It'll be a shame when these big bikes go away. They're so comfortable and fast. I live my Kawasaki ZX-14, but I have a lot of respect for the Bussa.
