Being a coaster enthusiast, scrap all IPs. IPs are for wealthy families who spend uncritically, roller coasters are for real fans. Serve the fans.

Not everyone wants to go to a theme park and spend insane money because of IP. Some people would rather have the better thrill based experience with minimal theming. And new coaster additions are still creating anticipation exitement and bringing up atendance numbers.

I feel like amusement parks are more for a vacation destination than a local one. How often can you ride the same rides in 2 weeks without getting bored. Also I feel like it is nearly a mental illness to give customers free perks for year passes, especially if you market to middle class. You know they will milk those free meals as much as you let them.

Six Flags is run by people who don’t know what they are doing. Instead of borrowing 2 billion to buy and open subprime theme parks why not invest in appearance and hiring better managers?

I’ve been to 8 six flag parks. They would be unstoppable if they took park design/theme seriously like Disney/universal. The WB themes seems rushed.

Boy I remember those grand old days of amusement parks, where a guy took his best girl with the cotton candy and he won her the stuffed animals, you had the wooden roller coasters, the dodgems, and rides like the Scrambler were the reason you went there. You might spend $5. There was the ballroom with the live rock and roll band, and the tunnel of love

Years ago, the thinking was, "Let's do everything for people to have fun, for as inexpensively as we can make it." Nowadays, it's "Let's do everything possible to twist every nickel we can, out of people." Nowadays, only the upper class, the rich people can afford to go to amusement parks. At Six Flags in Texas, it costs about $100 per person a day to go there, a family of 5 can expect to spend around $600. Seems like there's plenty of people who have the money, though

I think six flags magic mountain would’ve done better here in SoCal had they offered beer and liquor. I know bringing alcohol brings a bunch of problems of their own but alcohol also attracts adults which would bring in their kids and teenagers

In the early 2000s, I Love Me Some Roller-coaster Tycoon was my favorite pc game i stayed on that game day into the night lol that game was wonderful I made many adventures and money the was just a wonder pc game 🎉

I would say Houston is one major market that is without an amusement park.,,they did have a six flags though (Astro world I think)…so maybe it’s not looked at favorably 🤷‍♂️

I grew up in the town where Discovery Kingdom is. I was also in the commercial for the Daredevil coaster.

It’s been interesting seeing how things change at the park correspond to how the company was doing. I worked there 2014-2015 and it was probably the best time with new rides, good income, clean parks, decent food and good value for your dollar. They still got a way to go. The thing that sucks fir my park is it’s built next to wetlands and a highway so they have no room to expand, and the city also won’t let them, so they have no choice but to add smaller rides cuz they can’t physically put new bigger rides and that what our park is missing. Except for So-Cal the west coast doesn’t have much in regional/affordable amusement parks and wish that they were able to expand more.
