Not hard. Just send in 35 dollars and you have a electricity helpers license. Dont need a master to sign one for you no more.

Watched some of your videos last year after deciding to take different direction with my career. Applied to the IBEW. Studied for the test with the resources you provided. Got the interview in March and practiced for it with tips you gave. Had to wait until this month to find out whether I got in or not and I’m happy to say Local 26 here in VA has given me the apprentice position for this fall.

Thanks for all your help during my journey. You made the process so easy and I’m so blessed to have been accepted.

Thank you and glory to God.

In Utah, you have to have a sign verification of supervision form, in order to get an apprentice license, but no company is willing to sign it, because they want you to already have the license before they hire you. How do I overcome that obstacle? I've been trying for 5 years.

Hi Stephen!

Just a quick example I want to mention regarding the question I want to ask. If I'm on my 2nd year apprenticeship in the non union, will I still be on my 2nd year in the union if I join? Hope to hear from you soon. :)

Thanks again for all of the information! I used your guidance extensively during the last year and a half as I prepared before my local 275 opened the apprenticeship window, applying once it opened, studying for the aptitude test, touching up my resume, and preparing for the interview. I ended up ranking in the top 5, got my call to work a couple of days ago and have my first union electrician apprenticeship job starting this Wednesday! I don't think I would have been nearly as successful without your content as a resource. I'm extremely grateful. Thank you so much for what you do here!

As someone trying to even find entry into the trade, there is 100% not a lack of people looking to join the trades, the older trades people are absolutely lying. But there absolutely is a MASSIVE barrier to entry to all trades. Even in this video you say the entry point is looking for experience, how does that make any sense?

Electrician is something I considered about 15 years ago, but for various reasons, never pulled the trigger. I’ve considered giving it a shot, but I’ll be 38 this year and have a family. Been talking to the wife about it, but not still hit sure if it’s something viable for me. I may apply to the IBEW, but I’ve obviously been out of school for a while. Guess I could look into he non union route as well. How hard would it be on someone that has a family to get into this late? Would I have to work a lot to make enough money? Would I be gone all the time, especially the first couple years?

I would love to become an Electrician, but I'm 44 and it takes 5 years here. 49 - 50 as a Journeyman? Really wish they'd find a way to compress that timeline. Damn. Military can train someone for Explosive Ordinance Disposal in far less time, and that's even more dangerous.

Thanks for the great video Stephen, I do have a question for you though; sorry if it's long winded.
I'd like to join the IBEW obviously starting as an apprentice, but I'm wondering how good of a fit it would be for me.
I am a religious man, and in my religion we don't work on the Sabbath day which is from friday at sunset until saturday at sunset.
We also observe 3 "feasts" throughout the year:
The first of those being a week long feast called Pesach(Passover), where we are permitted from doing any work on the first and last day of the feast plus any Sabbath that may occur during, -This usually occurs in the beginning of April or May(depending on the ripeness of barely in Israel and the sighting of the new moon).
The next is Shavuot that begins 50 days from the Sabbath that occurs during Pesach where we have another High Holy Day where no work can be done.
The last is Sukkot, beginning roughly 6 months after Pesach where we have another week long feast where we cannot work on the first or last day of that week as well as any Sabbath in between.

Do you think, me requiring all of these non-negotiable days off will hurt my chances of getting in?
Do you think that even with these exceptions being known I would be expected to work anyways?

Thanks in advance and sorry you had to read such a wall of text.

Hi. I am from Buenos Aires, ARGENTINA. I want to understand or clarify your sharing information a little bit by contrasting it with the way in which we get the electrical license here. Here you have to apply for a place in an anual course (12 hs per week). You learn more about the theory part and not so much about the practical part (something I don't approve) . Anyways, you don't have to convince anyone but yourself about completing the course. you don't work in the electrical field as a part of the course. You don't get paid during it, but the course is free because the state pays for it. After completing it and approving an written exam, you get your license and you can work for your own or for a company. It only enables you to install the electrical circuit of a house, a small office or a small shop (you can't install the electrical circuit of a Walmart, that's the idea. Only electrical engineers can do sht like that). If you want to go up, you need to study three years, every day (80%theory) to be able to install larger circuits ( for example, an small building of three floors). But you are telling me that in USA, you work and "also" study. So, you get paid for working? That's why you have to convince the college where you are going to study that you really want it?

im looking into switching careers to improve myself and my financial standing. Im 30 and I had worked in several fields , automotive manufacturing, steel work, cable technician , food manufacturing and graduated culinary to become a chef. I found out while working in the restaurant and hospitality industry, that it was not for me and the money was great for me to support my self or my girlfriend. I am worried that I will be to old to start out on this an have a-lot of catching up to do. but i really want to make some real life changes , have a solid career for life and make really good money. I am a hard work, always ready to learn .

Ive recently found your channel and this is really helpful. the city I live in a major city with alot of construction jobs and a local IBEW union.I was wrestling with the idea if I want to go to trade school or start an apprenticeship , im thinking the latter would be the best option

So I just took the aptitude test for electrical apprenticeship entry. What is up with the wacky graphs that are difficult to interpret? They didn't teach me that in high school. Plus my math class didn't touch base on the much deeper interpretation. I need to find some way to study this so next time I am not thrown into the dark. I need help.

Local 11 in LA is weird AF... I don't see military background giving you an advantage at all... Sure I didn't have to take the test, but you don't have to be a genius to pass these tests... They didn't even seem to care about the portfolio... I handed mine to the 2 interviews at the end of the interview...

Jeez. I wish that was how it was done here in Arkansas.. Seems like it's more direct. Not much of a union presence here. So I don't really understand if I'm supposed to get into classes first or get hired by a company first. I called an electrician school and they were friendly and helpful but acted like I'm supposed to get hired then the company puts me through school. But I called several companies and they acted like I was supposed to be in classes first. Definitely mind boggling. I've tried to figure this out several times in my life but I usually end up just having to take whatever job I can find before I find an electrician job. And I'm getting older now - 36. I had been working in the log woods with my dad but we had to shut down and I thought this would be a good opportunity to try for my dream job of being an electrician.
