Roll of seems a bit better on S1H, but skin tones lacks depth and color sperations, like tinted on S1H, and trust me I usually hate Sony Color Science

The autofocus is insane on the Sony although the Panasonic has a more softer tone that I like .. nothing color grading should fix ..

S1 - More pleasant colour for this subject, generally nicer gradient of grey tones throughout, a cohesive feeling of subject and objects within the frame throughout the focal range.

A7 - stronger contrast (not good for this subject but great for others....), more detail hidden in the shadows, slightly surreal/unrealistic out of focus on the foreground - objects throughout the focal range seem disconnected, far less pleasant colour palette especially in the greens.

I recently switched to the Sony platform from Panasonic, primarily due to the breakdown in low-light shots and artifacts that appeared as a result. Sony's auto focus system is top notch, the internal image stabilization is awesome, and low light capabilities are unbelievably good. That all said, I really liked the Panasonic menu system, screen, and button layouts much more than Sony. Also, Sony's glass is almost cost prohibitive, but thank goodness for Sigma. Sigma glass looks great on both systems.

If Panasonic can ever improve their low light capabilities, I might venture back to Panasonic. We'll have to see what the SH2 has to offer.

People who complain about autofocus aren't real cinematographers/film makers. They're vloggers/content creators. That's all I have got to say. S1H stomps the A7Siii.

i have used gh5, a7iii & a7siii ... gh5 had the best colors

I'm super scared of the S1h rolling shutter compared to the A7siii which seems like it virtually has none. Before I buy, anyone run into problems with this?

seems like the s1h has better fine detail, but sony has better lowlight (exposure in eye area). I shoot in small, 8x10ft indoor spaces, and am concerned about fan noise. Would the s1h or sony fx3 be better for a low-volume fan?

it is clearly visible that the ProRes Raw has much more dynamic range. I don't understand why others who used this camera say otherwise

Both look awesome. LUMIX is a bit cooler, Siii a bit warmer. LUMIX looks more filmic. Slightly.

they're almost the same at 4k 24p, only what i dont like in s1h is poor af and crop at 4k 60p, sony has is up to 120 with a slight crop 1.1x what is a big win for sony. I actually have a lumix s1 and that crop is annoying when u have fixed focal length lens, u gotta stay at fhd for slowmotion to avoid a 1,45x crop.

What do you call this? An embarrassment of riches. I don't just mean that for this filmmaker; I mean that for any filmmaker who wants to get into the game with a (relative to cinema cameras) small budget. These cameras are both crazy good, and there's not a loser among them.

In good or even decent light, the S1H has a slight edge because it can output 6K video. Once the light drops, the a7S III has the edge. Plus, the a7s III has much better autofocus, much better rolling shutter performance, a better viewfinder (not that the one on the S1H is bad by any means), and more slow-motion options (including 4K 120p and 1080p at 240p).

The S1H is more of a movie set camera, and the a7S III is more of a run-and-gun camera...but that's not to say each camera can't do the other job and do it extremely well.

Idk, but maybe I think also the OLPF of the S1H is helping in some way, I really love how that camera gives the image in all sense

Panasonic looks better it always does. Sony fans always act like better af makes a better camera but to me picture quality and ibis do. Both is better in panasonic cameras even tough they bith share sony sensors

the S1H, is by far, a better camera, higher bitrate, more robust codec, higher dynamic range ( cheating results( a7 s III) in som tests coz of int. noisreduction ) s1H ; Its Netflixapproved .

the detail in the s1h is insane. im a fan of the a7siii but i didnt think the difference would be this apparent! if only panasonic would get rid of their autofocus system.

Are you able to use the touch screen in manual focus mode to rack focus on subject in the LCD screen? Like how the Gh5 & 5s can? I got the s5 and they removed the feature and make you have to push this AF button after picking (with the square box) the subject area. Ruins the cameras and make its unreliable on a gimbal. I want the s1h but not if it doesn't have this feature.

Definitely buying an S1H. GH4 and GH5 owner and have to shoot a doc soon so...think it's time to upgrade.

Both are looking different but both do a great job in that video

The S1H is definitely more red so would say the Sony has a more natural look to it especially with skin tone.
