great video on shelly relays. I'm wondering how difficult they are to fit in the box? I have gone down the smart switch path primarily with athom devices (come preflashed with tasmota) but I have noticed it can be extremely challenging to fit everything in the box. I see the same issue with these shelly relays. Any install videos to show how cramped it gets?

Shelly 1L + bypass do a flickering light on OFF possition :( I replace it to Sonoff ZBMINI2L and works for all my light circut ! For NoNeutral the ZBMINI2L is a winner !

how do you remove the shield in case you need to access the back part of the switch. I bought some of these and I didn't install them as I saw no possible way of remove the shield without damaging the wall

Hey Rob, could you provide some guidance on whether it's possible to control the Shelly Pro 4PM using either low-voltage (CAT3) wiring or Wi-Fi through a smart switch? If it's feasible, could you also recommend compatible smart switches? I'm looking to replace my old 40-year-old low-voltage light control system with multiple Shelly Pro units. Your insights would be really valuable. Thanks a bunch, Bob!

Would one of these be appropriate to use as a gate relay to release an electronic strike for a small amount of time (like 8-10 seconds)?

Thanks for this Rob. Just getting into home automation and ordered some shelly devices. Wondering if you know of any wall smart receptacle w/ USB that work locally and with HA? If I put in a regular receptical with USB, there isn't enough room to put in a shelly device into the box in the USA I have found. Could do z-wave or wifi. Ty.

Getting a Shelly1L with the Bypass seems almost pointless seeing you’ve got to access a neutral wire anyway. What would be a practical application where someone would use a 1L with a Bypass instead of just a 1PM?

Is there any Shelly device that is not geared to a load?
I have been looking for a specific device that has at least 1xDI and 1xDO
My specific application is a residential garage door I/O application
My input could have voltage on it as it's just a reed switch to sense the door is fully closed.
The output however needs to be a contact closure and not have any source power from the Shelly (or other) unit

I did have a Insteon IO-Link in there, but I'm in the process of replacing all of my Insteon equipment
I think the Shelly Plus 1 would do the trick, no?

Would be nice to have a second input as I think I may want to place a door fully open contact so I can improve the logic to open/close/travelling rather than just closed/not closed
I don't see that in a Shelly unit. May have to rig my own ESP32 blob up

Any insight would be awesome!
Thanks!

Be careful using the 2.5 when you are using continuous loads ( e.g. a Pool Pump etc ). My 2.5 overheated constantly and cut off even though the pump was well within the 10amp limit ( was only pulling 730W ), and then totally died. Honestly, I'm disappointed with the 2.5. Hopefully the 4PM won't have the same issues.

Thank you for all the information. I have a question. I have a 24v motorized ball valve. It is a 3 wire. Ground, close, and open. I would like to make it smart. Does the dry contact version have a no/nc option like a traditional relay or would I be better off connecting an actual relay to the Shelly and just use an on off function. The valve does not require power to be removed after it opens or closes. Can be operated by a simple toggle switch. Thanks!!

So correct me if I'm nowhere near correct on this.
If you have an existing home with std depth switch boxes won't wiring that relay then overload the switch box?

Seems like everytime I see a wiring vlog it's just an example on the bench. Not showing me how to do this in an existing installation.

@The Hook Up Good evening! Thank you for the great video! Could you please be so kind and help me - I have Shelly 1 and would like to "smart" my gates, but... I have the switch inside my house which operates my gates. It's difficult to explain but, this switch doesn't have L and N, there is just 1 wire in and another 1 wire out back to my gates. Is it posible to "smart".y gates? Do you use any email or What's app in order to send picture and explain with photo of my switch what I need? 🙈

i would never use these straight with load. only to control contactors. even these have small relays inside they are not the same as ie. siemens house automation relays. i have motion detector outside and it can handle 1kw but i still use it only to control relay and separate load. safe.

what a great video, and i think Shelly is developed with great flexability for end users. Now I have a old alarm system that I wanna use the PiR Sensors, since they have a output for resistive is there any Shelly that can check the state of the output of the PiR so i can program to send a notification? thanks in advance

This presentation makes an incorrect suggestion!
Categorically, the lecturer does not understand automation.
Ahelly is a wonderful product. I won't explain why relay 1 doesn't need to have a Neutral.
We were able to launch Shelly in a private cloud over an SSL tunnel in NextCloud, from where hundreds of users can use it as an integrated service.

According to the video, one hot wire load goes to O. What about the 2nd hot wire load? Where do you connect it? Any one would know. Thanks in advance

This may be a dumb question, but when you say it has a max load of 4.1 Amps, is that on the whole electric circuit (from the breaker to the end of the hot) or just from the switch to the light bulb?

Also, is the Shelly 1PM good for monitoring a dryer?
