Here I combine two random liquid solutions together to make something unexpected.

Green solution: remains of a random piece of metal that I had added some hydrochloric acid to to dissolve. It was green probably because it contained a lot of nickel ions. I’d added a bit of base (NaOH) to that solution too to neutralize the acid, and then added more acid, and then ended up with some solid iron which I had filtered out prior to making this video.

Orange solution: remains of aluminum foil disintegrated in acid, then neutralized with LOTs of base (sodium hydroxide) to the point where Al(OH)3 formed and then redissolved as Al(OH)4- (aluminate)

If anyone has a guess to what happened in this reaction let me know, I’m still trying to figure it out myself.
