Conspiracy theories are freaking hilarious.
Mostly because some of them are true, and most of them are awful. This allows for there to be enough doubt that they're just crazy theories so that people are always willing to listen and give believing a chance.

Love your definition of politics as a “conspiracy” it truly is and those involved are so good at it that almost everyone overlooks it. It’s not a choice when you’re forced into 1 of 2 boxes

It's not a conspiracy theory if they are openly conspiring. The point is the veneer of civility. Without which there is two other real options if you remove western governance from the equation. Totalitarians or chaos examples being 1930's Germany or the best example i can think of is a not set government in Africa where chaos reigns and nothing stops a warlord being a war lord.

My biggest wish would be the government's of the world stopping groups from poisoning the planet. Much more harmful than global warming which I believe is less of an issue than we are lead to believe. Global warming is an actual example conspiracy theory concocted by ill-meaning group of powerful interests.

I think Alan needs to not exist as quick as possible 😂

Why do we put up with politics?
The only other system that has been invented that I am aware of is ruler/dictatorship which is generally worse for the subjects/people.
There is a requirement for infrastructure and criminal justice etc.
Unless we'd rather live like animals.

Overthrowing the government always seems like a good idea to some people but it's pretty rare that the replacement is an improvement.

My latest conspiracy theory, that I made up just now, is that elections, certainly in the US, and possibly throughout western democracies, are fake, in a WWF kind of way. The results are decided beforehand, by a group in the background who control such things, and voters going out to vote is just part of the show. The results aren't actually tallied, results are published that match the pre-determined choice of "those in control", so everyone thinks they are in a democracy.

The conspiracy theory about politics is very interesting but in my opinion it's not completely true...
Im okay with the statement that is contradictory saying "Politics needs be like this because it is the way it needs to be but at the same time you are free😊" and it's kinda of a conspiracy, but only the part with "You are free"!!!
In my opinion, i see politics from a realism pov (especially taking Hobbes's statements in "De Cive") politics needs to exist, so that we can have a state and we can interact peacefully with each other but at the same time it needs to give laws to us and order because without them there would be nomstate; and without a state we would live in a "nature normal state" where everyone could do everything they want and have real freedom, but having freedom gives to us the possibility to kill each other or do what themfuck we all want basically😂😂
What im trying to say is that WE ARE NOT FREE, AND WE NEED TO BE LIKE THAT TO LIVE WITH EACH OTHER!!! If we were free there would be no state, because to form a state we all need to give some rights and so not being free.
So, the real lie/conspiracy about politics is (especially in the USA) this nonsense statement that we are all free and "We are living in the best freedom state in the world🎉😎" when in order to have a state u cant be free. But the statement " Politics it's just the way it is" in my opinion is correct and it needs to be it, because with no politics there would be no order,state,peace or anything just anarchy everywhere and we would all trying to kill each others😂

The crazy amount of money involved in the space program, and the number of Freemasons involved in the moon landings (a not secret secret society), makes it more likely than most conspiracy theories to be true. And also politically, it was a huge win for America. If we did go to the moon, would it surprise anyone they made a for tv version of events instead of showing the real footage?

The freedom refers to the constitution which protects the freedoms of the American people. Without it government would be more capable of ruling tyrannically. Now you may think "More tyrannically than it already is?" The answer would be yes... obviously. If you think it cant get worse, you might want to think again. Democracy serves the purpose of involving the citizens in the electoral process. Get rid of the electoral college and now the people ARE the government. Whole new set of problems. If you think that would be good i want you to think of all the stupid people you know and how often you've thought the majority populace was wrong on certain things. Ultimately that is why we are a constitutional republic, not a true democracy. PS: Love the videos

My government (US) regularly engages in private illegal conspiracy.

Unfortunately, this is merely a result of the system we have built.
1. Most relevant executive action is classified.
2. Declassification occurs after 30 years, so "illegal or harmful action" won't ruin your career.
3. Acts like the Patriot Act per the letter of the law enable horrific behavior in the executive branch.
E.g., merely of the declassified examples that we have to date, the US government has directly caused 60+ regime changes in 2nd/3rd world countries with whom we have vested economic interest.

The obvious distinction with a conspiracy theory is that conspiracy theories are evidence sparse. Often, additionally, bothering yourself with discrediting or believing in these theories serves you nothing.
Seeking the truth where the evidence is slim is (to me) a noble endeavor, but in most cases it eats up your life. You would better served spending your time making the community about you into a better place.

The old joke with politics is "you get the government you vote for". While theoretically we are free and could make whatever choice we want the degree that that choice is dependent on the will of others makes it inconsequential at best. Also, when the masses have little to no education and interest in policy they make that decision based on advertising and peer pressure. The ignorance of society at large, the infusion of huge amounts of money (meaning influence by corporate entities and influence of low information voters), and the perverse incentive of politicians to hold power at all costs is enough of a perfect shit storm to render the pollitical system almost completely broken.

People can't handle the truth, Pete. I enjoy watching you play Risk as a thought experiment. I don't play lol.

With the politics thing, their are other options, its just no one votes for them enough to make them options. So our freedom to vote is determined by what the majority thinks. The majority just thinks one or two ways, and everyone else just falls in line, ether voting for who they think is closest to their views, or they don't vote at all. In certain towns however you can vote for whoever as major, and in many towns we have had Animals as majors because people didn't like any of the people choices. However the more people you have in a community the less chance their is of Third or Fourth party options, as people tend to follow only two types of thinking, and if they don't they tend to not vote instead of voting for that third or Forth party.

I too love this map, Pete! It’s a rather unique layout with the two heavies on one side, the single block on the other, and then the nice jumble in the middle. It makes you think, and it’s far from boring. Awesome game! 🗺️
