Pocket was too thin. Always got hand cramp from it
ОтветитьI wish companies would get it through their thick skulls that "new" at the expense of features and function doesn't automatically mean better. Improve upon what is, don't scrap something for the sake of "innovation." Nintendo has always been more gimmicks and less quality than any other gaming platform on the market.
Name one innovation that Nintendo did well that stuck around. The only one I can think of is multiple controllers for same room gaming. Other gaming companies just link multiple systems together, Nintendo continues to deliver on multiplayer couch co-op.
I'd love to buy this for my boys. Let me know.
ОтветитьInteresting.
ОтветитьBeing a teenager, playing on my 14" black and white tv or the 20" colour tv my big brother had.
20 years later, playing the same games on a 7" cellphone screen (bluetooth controller or virtual controller).
How is playing these classic games on an emulator on a cell phone, more fun than a big tv?
how the heck do you learn to solder this good??? 😱
ОтветитьMy first was the Grey original gameboy....might be dating my self a bit there but i miss it so much wish i could find one haha
ОтветитьIs there a Gameboy Advance version he's making? Would love to see my GBA in a form like this.
ОтветитьGet a advance sp
ОтветитьUGH, I could watch your intro on loop for DAYS!
Ответить25 minute waste of time
ОтветитьI gotta say I love how creative and hardworking the retro gaming community is in preserving the origins of gaming. Thank you for the video ❤
ОтветитьThis isn't exactly technology of the future bro.
Ответитьso its a worse gameboy advanced?
ОтветитьIt's slick as hell, but as far as form factor's concerned, I'd rather use Bucket Mouse's DMGC kit. I'll never give up my Game Brick! All hail the Bucket Mouse! 🪣🐭
Ответить1 word......
Nintendon't
I'm just saying it was there.
Would be nice to mention that you need some kind of ESD protection when you touch ICs with your bare hands.
Pro tip: solder pcb pads before installing ic on it, it will be way easier and minimize the risk of cold joints.
I actually did that as my first project and it worked out fine!
ОтветитьNo, pass, ….. raspberry Pi
ОтветитьGoddamn, buy yourself a hot air station
ОтветитьThat isn't the best fine soldering, as all the pins were dry, but it may be good enough for your own use. 👍
ОтветитьI like the advance form factor better by quite a lot.
Ответитьpersonally my favorite gameboy is the gameboy advance sp. It had integrated lighting, folded so that it was not only small, but also protected the screen, and could play SP and regular gameboy cartridges. Being able to tilt the screen to several angles to find a comfortable position was also a nice bonus
ОтветитьThis doesn't matter anymore, you could give people GTA 6 in a tiny screen alongside the real deal and it would just be a novelty, handheld gaming is dead unless you are in captivity with no other options.
ОтветитьAnd what's so special about it?
Ответитьgoodbye horses.
Ответитьgba SP wa the best gb without a doubt
ОтветитьThey did make gameboy pocket light had a back light
Ответитьokay... its cool and all, but at this point you could just make an even smaller gameboy, considering we have more advanced components.
ОтветитьWhat magic device did you unsolder the cartridge port with?
ОтветитьYou are soldering absolutely incorrectly. You need to apply solder to the contacts on the board, the contacts must be soldered on both sides so that soldering is reliable and fast. For soldering multi-wire chips, it is easier to use soldering paste and a soldering air gun, the excess solder is removed with a copper braid. The board must be washed away from any flux residues, otherwise even inactive flux will eventually corrode the solder. Use isopropyl alcohol to remove flux residues at a minimum.
Ответитьeasy pcb mod. shoould have made one myself.
ОтветитьSilly project. We have much more advanced devices inside gameboy shells.
ОтветитьGameBoy Advance SP was the best GameBoy, especially in form factor.
ОтветитьOoooooooooooor, you can get a bad ass Miyoo Mini with IPS screen, great battery life and basically perfect emulation ❤ - nonetheless, excellent job
ОтветитьGameboy pocket was trash, tou couldnt play all of Nintendos games. Worst thing ever made. Im flad i never git it. I had the regular game boy color to olay my pokemon games.
ОтветитьInteresting. But honestly, I don't see any real advantage over just modding a GBC with a large IPS screen. It's MUCH less effort and the form factor of the shell is pretty similar anyway. And the GBC uses 2x AA batteries by default, which are absolutely sufficient in my experience. So overall I don't see a reason why putting so much effort in a mod like this, just to have the GBC in a slightly different case.
ОтветитьI was confused if the Host is Hasanabi or Peter from OTV 😅
ОтветитьNintendon’t
ОтветитьSo when soldering those cpu parts, are all connection points still separate? If so, that some eagle eye skills!
ОтветитьThat colour pairing you've used of the blue red and black looks so slick.
ОтветитьWhat an absolute meaningless thing to create...
ОтветитьWhy not just grab the AP? Still looks beautiful!
ОтветитьI was expecting so much more. It's just a Gameboy color in a Gameboy pocket. This would have been kinda neat a few decades ago, but seems mediocre in modern times. I can already play every game ever made from all the classic systems on my phone with a comfy wireless controller. This Gameboy color pocket just seems primitive and lame in comparison to what's already out there. I guess nostalgia really matters to some people though!
ОтветитьCool upgrade, but hard to imagine many gamers who would or can do this type of soldering work.
ОтветитьYou should use the drag method for IC chips like that, much easier and more reliable, you get much better looking results and youre not gonna accidentally miss any. just take a knife point load it with solder start on one side and drag it down the solder will flow where it's supposed to go.
ОтветитьThis... but GBA and it would be perfect
Ответить
