I'm doing my research right now, and in about a year I'll be looking for a full-time liveaboard. 50+ feet and Sub $200K. I'll be looking for something with good bones. As far as looks, as long as it looks nice, I can update things as I go along. I'm pretty handy for an older guy ... lol

Great info! I’m a first time yacht buyer and you touch in all the areas I want to know but more in-depth.

1) Putting the yacht in LLC and using it for 50% of its time for “business” chartering it etc for full write off. Is there charter companies that hand the entire charter process booking, crew, payment etc?

2) I live in California. However the Mangusta 108 we are looking at is in Miami. Should we keep it Miami or move it to California for when we charter? I am thinking we will be able to rent it more often from Miami then Let’s say Newport Beach/ San Diego. Would like to know best areas to keep charters in your opinion.

3) Also should we registering the US or George Town like most yachts for tax reasons.

4) More info on cost of maintenance and cleaning. Like how much a ft does it cost to wash a yacht and how often you should wash it. How about painting the bottoms of the yacht once a year etc. The little things like that are missed and not talk about as much.

Would love to hear more detail about chartering yachts to compensate for the cost of owning one. Can you really bring the price down close to 0?
