Big fan of using stuff that pulls double or triple duty when possible... mineral oil, for one. Besides a protective coating for carbon & tools steels, I can use it to treat wood & leather, or mix it with melted beeswax for wood butter & lip balm. Rubbing alcohol is another. It's my go-to for removing tape residue, grease, pine sap, or leftover felt tip marks . But also, I can cut it with distilled water to make an antiseptic spray, or add a drop of dish detergent to the mixture to make a generous helping of cleaner for my eyeglasses.
