Sony a7 III vs a7 IV

Sony R cameras are geared more to photographic work the Sony S are geared more to videos...so looking for a video camera go to another camera...

I found an A7iii for $1300 like new, i think for this price is very worthly

I'm not a videographer nor a sport/wild animal shooter, should I buy the IV? mmh.. Can you feel the difference of the EVF between the two? i'm a street/reportage photographer

Anyone else have palpitations watching him lift those cameras with big thick gloves/mittens on? No? Just me? Ok then 😂

There is over heating in a 7 m iv

Random but also a consideration is resale. The iii is holding value 5 years later. But ten years after its release you won’t get much for it whereas selling your iv in 5 years would likely get you a good return.

If you still have A7 III never upgrade for next 10 Years from now on its just throwing money out of the window

Good succinct comparison. I’m surprised at how long it’s taken for Sony to introduce 10-bit H.265 internal 4k into a camera. Fuji did it in the X-T3. I just bought an A7RIII, to test the full-frame waters, with the possibility of an A7IV when its “used” price comes down. The Fuji X-T4 is incredible for video, but its IBIS sucks for video and its AF is adequate at best.

for a Sports Photographer struggling to decide between a7r3 or a74. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I have a Sony a7iii with Sony 24-105 and a Sony 70-200. My earlier plan was to get one more a7iii and use a 1.4x tc to increase my reach but on research i think getting a a7r3 would help me shoot in Apsc mode which will be similar in resolution and reach.

So I don't have much , actually no experience handling an a7IV, but do with an a7III in a store, and the single biggest part I don't like, that puts me off, is the crappy viewfinder. When you pick up the Nikon Z6 or Canon R6 that sit right next to it on the Best Buy display shelf, they're SO much clearer and crisper and with better colors and lack any jitters and jumpiness that the a7III displays when you engage focus , not to mention aliasing. So there being little difference between the a7III and a7IV in this regard as Chris states is really a bummer. I don't have the best eyes already, and that's just got to e a no from me then if what Chris says is true. Outright resolution is one thing, but even the display Canon R7 with its 2.36M dot apsc viewfinder was miles better than the a7III's.

these guys are not reviewers. theyre salesmen. thats what they do. work for amazon and sell products. trying to seem friendly but overall, "BUY THIS AND THAT" is all they do.

I'm thinking of upgrading to full frame from the A6600. I shoot mostly wildlife and landscapes. I was hoping in 2023 sony would come out with a 33mp APSC camera. So I'm on the fence to wait or to just upgrade to full frame now. Any suggestions?

This Video made me feel secure about my decision. I got my A7III for $100 more than an A7C. Coming from a DSLR (non-articulating screen), I’m focused on mastering the many functions as the menus are quite daunting. It’s gonna be a while but so far my pics are improving. Does the a7IV still have that 30m video record limit like the a7iii ?

The 7a iii is now 30% cheaper than the iv here in Hong Kong. I am getting my first camera, it's a tough choice because what matters to me is 4k 60p. But for one feature that matters, the 30% difference is a lot. I am still thinking....

im about to jump into full frame for the first time, going from an A6400 (15-50mm) to... what do you guys think? i think i'm gonna buy the A7 IV. Came into PH for videos at the begining.

I shoot weddings and alot at that, it’s every weekend and some mid week. I use 2 a7iii’s and I don’t miss a shot so a faster autofocus isn’t what I need. I think I’ll invest in better glass before changing cameras. 85 or 135 🤔🤔

My A7 iv heats and shutdown..

Before IV, the III was go to for professionals... slight changes and upgrades came up now suddenly its an occasional camera.

Then the screen went black and it said this episode was filmed on the Panasonic GH5S.

After all the updates and bug fixes, the IV is closer in quality and function to the A1 than it is the III. Get the IV.

When I have a question about a camera, I always check to see if you have a video out about it before anything else. Love your content!

I'm very disappointed about sony a7IV. I have colours banding and posterization image, as well autofocusing doesn't work well which is totally unacceptable in 2022.I think I just waste my money .

Can I please get your opinion on something? I've seen so many people rave about how amazing the Sony G master 24mm wide angle lens is, but I don't recall seeing anyone talk about the G master 35mm. And I have a feeling a 35mm is going to work better for my needs. I just got my A7IV and want to get a really good lens, but it's going to be my only really good lens for the time being so I want to make sure it's going to be versatile enough for what I need. I get occasional paid gigs doing birthday parties, family photos, etc. but I don't go searching for jobs so it's pretty rare. My main need is to start filming music videos for my own music.

Can I get away with using the 24mm to do all my performance shots and b roll for rap music videos? Or am I right that a 35mm would do way better? And have you heard anything on the 35mm G master? It's just as expensive as the 24mm, so I'm hoping it is just as good.
