Wow that was incredibly enlightening. I’m so glad she shared her story. It helps me to better understand what some unfortunately had to endure when living through the system. 😢❤🫂🙏🏾

I would like to foster but I don’t know if I can deal with very badly behaved children. I don’t think I have enough patience. I can’t even deal with my annoying and sibling…

Powerful message that resonated with me on so many levels. I have 17 years of lived experience, but I lived to tell about it in a self-published book, "It's Time to Turn Up! No More Trauma." The hard knock life analogy struck a cord because its a metaphor included in my Special Message from the Author. Thank you for sharing!

I was a foster child who was given thorazine at 3yrs old until i was a zombie. Got adopted by a family who only wanted my baby sister and had to take me as part of the deal to not split us up. I am 45 now and all my life ive felt lonely. I always tell people i raised myself. Ive dealt with so many obstacles which i why i am resilient but people can be dismissive and say i have bad luck. I often think of suicide because the world made me feel like i was a mistake. No cliche can change how i feel when all my life i tried encouraging myself that i matter. Life has been showing me i dont. Also i am not on drugs nor am i a alcoholic. Its just coming to terms of my reality which alot of times i no longer want to be in....Gratitude to this amazing queen who overcame her foster care life and bless whoever helped her as adoptive parents. They did well, like my adoptive mother(R.i.P) did well with my sisters. I am more happy for them than for myself.

A friend of my work colleague died in a car accident a year ago, and his only son, who was just 16 years old and a university student and whose mom died of blood cancer five years ago, has been put into the system until they find someone to adopt him. My colleague tried to adopt him but he could not bear the university expenses, being the only earning member in the family, he also has to look after his family's upkeep. For few months with our small contributions, he managed to keep him out of system but unfortunately the social worker did not seem to be convinced with his care and took the boy and put himinto the system. Since then he is not being able to contact him. We hope and pray that, he finds some angel although its just a matter of a year. I hope he survives there comes out stronger. He has already gone through so much of trauma at such tender age Thankyou for sharing this video. I am so overwhelmed to see the experiences shared by the folks here😞. Hats off. More power to you all.

I'm still messed up from the system.i was in over 33 homes that I can count . I was in there from 2008 till 2017. I'm trying do my best. One of my foster brothers murdered a woman. And another got shot in the Back of the head for his past tho he was starting to do better. And many other brothers and sisters in bad situations. Very few doing well. But we gotta stay strong. I hope to be a foster dad one day.

I hope all those who have become foster parents are still sticking it out. I know how hard it is... my family adopted five children and helped countless more in the past twenty years. I am the youngest birth child of my family and I love my adopted siblings so much. My mom is going on 60 and still fostering/adopting. She is my hero! It was really hard to raise children with trauma, but I wouldn't change it for anything. Because of my adopted siblings who inspired me, I became a Respite Care and Foster Nanny for twelve years then a behavioral health peer supporter for children, then a community health worker and even now I am a foster child Advocate... I hope to carry on the legacy of my own parents and become a foster parent in the near future.

Since such a great great number of children are removed (sold) without reason other than harvesting for federal dollars, the foster care system should shrink because awareness of the selling of children should stop the removal. One every
TWO MINUTES.

I was a foster child and I have no good things to say about the foster care system. I was in foster care for 9 years, and in those 9 years I was moved 7 times. I was 7 years old when I was put in one and then just bounced around like a ball that no one wanted. As I got older I just started doing my own things. I didn’t care what I put them through because they didn’t care what they put me through. The foster parents that I was stuck with , were no better than my own parents. Just money hungry people, banking on kids.

I'm just wondering how many foster kids the speaker has taken in and also I do understand that some foster parents are not perfect however nothing is being suggested about what to do in reference to the people that caused this chaos and this damage to the children the abusive and neglective parents they're the real problem

I was a foster kid and I don't hear from my foster family. I will tell you that there are many kids that go into bad foster families? Now that Roe V Wade has been overturned I'm sure that the foster care system will be booming and making more money and the people running it? There will be more people pumped into it because if a 10-year-old girl is going to be forced to carry their abuser's baby to term and a bunch of gun-wheeling Horney money-grubbing Republicans. While the foster care system should be there for kids that can't go to family or are not safe with family unfortunately there are many people out there that are not fit to be foster parents? Another thing is that unfortunately kids in the foster system can be held in this system past their 18th birthday in Utah? In Utah LDS Family services will now be raking in the money as of 2022?

This was the most genuine and most life saving speech !listening to her made me feel for the first time in my life that someone actually understands the reality of being a foster child .Really it's hurt because kids need love and protection and so kids get ripped from the ones they love and a lot of times kids still love the people who have mistreated them and it's hurts to get ripped away and put into a system like your another number .and foster kids never get the love they need and want because even when someone is so good to them there instincts are to not trust it because if their own parents are willing to love and still abuse them they know that anyone is capable of being abusive because a lot of foster kids have seen the worst of people and the worst of situations so nothing really can really help except that someone that understands and shows love no matter what !I every word she said was so real and touching grateful I came across this ❤️

I'm working on adopting my new born granddaughter that is in foster care. The foster mother has been making up lies left and right. And DCFS has been believing them because she only one of a few foster parents capable of special medical needs premies. I document everything and give it to the lawyer appointed to me, which helps. But this foster parent sees a big paycheck leaving her or she has even laid hints that she wants to adopt a baby since she can't have one, and already has a boy. DCFS has never made a claim or complained about anything, Just her. And when this is over I am saying every single thing I ever wanted to in one session to her!

You are such a beautiful soul. This video has really helped me make the jump into foster care. I kept seeing videos of foster kids going into big houses saying "wow, this house is amazing!" And I'm here with an apartment, thinking a child won't like my place. I was an addict for a while, and have a felony on my record from 7 years ago. I kept thinking the system won't accept me...but I have to try. This is something I've been wanting to do for so long. I know what it's like to feel unloved, to be abused by my father, to feel like I have no one. I've also been homeless. I can relate with these children in so many ways...and more than anything else, I know I would never give up on them. I know I can be someone to change their lives. I just have to believe in myself. I have to try...and your video, reminding me that materials are just that...they will come and go...but empathy and love will remain forever. I CAN do this. I can change their lives, and in turn they'll change mine. Thank you so very much for speaking up. ❤️You gave me hope.

My husband and I are 3 weeks away from getting out first kids. We are choosing 8-18 to try and keep at least a few of them out of group homes. I have so much love to give. I myself was also a foster kid and spent a lot of my childhood in and out of homes of either state or family or friends. It's such a scary situation. I got pretty lucky with the homes I was in but it's still traumatic to go through. I used the materialistic one a lot. I don't have enough stuff to give them. But I'm learning all they really need is love and support. Even if we get them at 18 they will always have a home to come back too. Thank you so much for sharing this. It made me cry but I hope I can make a difference in someone's life. Sending hugs.
