I do build my own clubs and custom make my own ferrules. My players are my first build of Takomo 101's with all the other parts source from GolfWorks. Given I use GolfWorks for my sourcing of shafts, grips and tools I have noticed the Maltby equipment but had not had much interest until this video. You now have me considering another build. I shafted a Vokey head with an Aldila shaft that I really like and was wanting to build a set around the Aldila shafts. I will be considering the KE4 Max heads if not taking a more serious look at the other Maltby heads. Thank you.
Ответитьfor a little more $, what do you think about the Takomo 101T?
ОтветитьI have a bunch of malty clubs in the bag. You should review their driving iron. IMO it's their best value for money club.
ОтветитьWaiting for my ts4 to come in but im now interested in these or the ts3 as my long irons. Will probably just buy the head and swap them and test
ОтветитьI prefer the term inexpensive when talking Maltby equipment. There is nothing cheap about it. They make really great clubs.
ОтветитьGreat video. I love my Maltby irons and I think I'm ready for a new set for 2024. Do you have any suggestions for a 15 handicap Maltby shopper that ABSOLUTELY LOVES a soft feeling iron head that has some forgiveness?..... Also I have a suggestion. If you want to make a video evaluating a new set of irons it's probably not needed to count puts and driver shots. So instead maybe just counting fairways and greens in regulation when you pull an iron..... Just a thought. LOVE your content. If you decide to make a Maltby comparison video I would be incredibly thankful, as it would be so incredibly helpful.
ОтветитьThere are alot of upgrades available on golf works site that really take these clubs over the top. You can easily double the price with some high quality after market shafts as well. Even so it's still totally worth it, especially as a woman's set when you add the higher flex Mitsubishi Kuro Kage carbon fiber shafts. The Maltby MAX Milled Wedge with adjustable weight is a nice upgrade with the Mitsubishi MMT shaft as well.
ОтветитьGolfworks seem to make good heads iv got a couple members that play them and are club champion has the set that I really like that are extremely similar to the TaylorMade that he put the dynamic gold 115 meds in and are so solid and my club repair guy has 3 sets of heads he's building for outer members one I'm excited to see are going to have the new Fuji iron shaft in them now price with a premium shaft I'm not going to call them a budget club at $60 a head $375 shafts $11 a great but a great club
ОтветитьI am a beginner and as such, I of course have never built my own clubs before. But I have looked at a lot of the DTC irons out and I am impressed by all of the options but in the same elk, overwhelmed. The KE4 Max or the Gigagolf TRX Power Slot irons are where I am leaning as a beginner but I am interested in the players irons side as well as I seem to be improving fairly well. It's all tooo muuuuch 😂
Edit: while I am here, anybody try the Sti2 irons? Lower price point but they are SGI. Thanks!
Distance is irrelevant as every vendor has changed their loft all the time, Today a 9i is like an 8i or even 7i years ago. Example Ping Eye from end 90s 7i was on 36 degree, this 9i is on 38 degree. Ping Eye 2 iron was 18.5 degree and 3i was on 21.5 degree so this 4 iron is between a 2 and 3 iron 30 years ago. Also this Gap wedge is on 48 degree and a typical Sand wedge is on 56 degree so you get a gap of 8 degree and that was the reason why the Gap wedge came out initially to be around 52 degree as the Pitching wedge was suddenly bent up like 9i. Now you need a 52 degree wedge added in any case so we are just fooling ourselves.... just saying. But the clubs looks great, in my style.
ОтветитьHave you ever reviewed Bombtech irons?
ОтветитьLove that you are testing Maltby, Stix, etc. Something similar to Stix is Byrdie Golf. Would love to see a review of these.
ОтветитьLots of wind!!
ОтветитьCan you review the new Maltby line of irons? They look so good and I love building my clubs but there are no reviews ever for them. Thanks for this! I play a combo set of the original P790 long irons and the original P770 short irons. The P790s came with Dynamic Golf 105 shafts and the P77os came with a heavier KBS. I took all the clubs apart, put new ferrules on them, and changed out the KBS to have the DG 105s throughout the whole set. It was a blast doing it myself and the clubs perform great!
ОтветитьI really like your channel. You share valuable information that is not on other golf videos. I this is this first video that discusses DIY golf clubs, where and why to use a 6-iron, and how to adjust the loft of a wedge by choking down on the club. Please, please, please keep making golf videos!
ОтветитьNew subscriber here. Thanks for covering Maltby clubs, I'm a big fan of theirs. I'll echo sentiments of other commenters and ask for a review of the STi2 irons and TS3 forged. You're quite the player, scoring that well with clubs fit to another golfer! Good work all around sir.
ОтветитьThis is the first time I have customized my irons after being fitted my setup is a full set of Mizuno JPX 923 HM with 60 gram graphite shafts and 2 degrees upright loft.
ОтветитьI’d like you to fill out the custom fit program that Maltby offers, order the set recommended, and review them.
ОтветитьGreat video and what a find in terms of value. Thanks for creating yet another great video.
ОтветитьReally impressed with your game and ability to judge distance while playing with new clubs. Great video.
ОтветитьNice to see Maltby equipment being represented here for the masses! I bought the Ke4 Max heads when they came out, 4-G, installed (Pured) Nippon Zelos 7 shafts in them all, Grip Master leather grips and I've been very happy with them. 20 degrees loft in a 4i is a bit too strong lofted for my swing speed tho I do hit it mostly dead straight. We were able to adjust lie angles ok, but not lofts. I have the 4 & 5 hybrid and a couple of the TS3 irons on the way to try. I should have them in a couple weeks. Disabled US Navy Veteran, living in the beautiful tropics of the Philippines, golf year round, 3-4 rounds a week.
ОтветитьDon’t linger over bad shots. Be a goldfish- Ted Lasso
ОтветитьI've played the Golfworks TE Forged set for many years, love the old-school lofts too. Ain't changin'.
ОтветитьMaltby clubs are amazing. I've played their irons for decades. Test their newest forged players irons, please!!!! Beautiful irons.
Thanks for giving Maltby irons some exposure. Very good review.
Takomo 101 irons I was told to go on a boat in the northern Atlantic Ocean in the winter, I am going to be a seasick 🤢
ОтветитьCan not be enough Maltby love; good to see someone getting some info out into the interverse
ОтветитьYou’ll have to review the TS3s. As others have said, they are so good. Prefect blend of forgiveness, looks and feel.
ОтветитьMy Setup: Jaxon Golf Mark X Putter, Acer XB 50°, 54° (bent to 55°) & 58° (bent to 59°) w/FST 115 steel shafts, SMT 579 Irons 5-Pw, Wishon 775Hs 4-Hybrid (bent from 24° to 21°) all with AXE XCaliber Tour X Shafts and 929Hs 5-Wood (bent from 18° to 17°) with Apollo Steel shaft and Acer XV Thriver Mini 2-Wood with True Temper Dynamic Lite steel...driver du jour this week is the Maltby KE4 Max driver with UST Mamiya Proforce V2 Black X-Flex 75g.
ОтветитьYou MUST try the Maltby TS1 or TS1M irons, as well as the TS4 Blade!
ОтветитьI'd agree with you on the feel of the KE4 Max, which is "thuddy" in feel...but the other KE4 models have all really been excellent feeling clubs. I think those that like the KE4 Max ideally would also like the Maltby M890, which seem to feel a little softer and more solid with plenty of forgiveness and ease of use.
ОтветитьI run a custom golf store in Somerville. MA and specialize in building all of the component brands like Maltby: let me know any clubs you want to test out! I also carry Wishon Golf, SMT, Bang Golf, Integra, Acer, Powerplay, et al including my own house brand of putter.
ОтветитьDifferent subject what is the hand held launch monitor you use in your on course videos ?
ОтветитьYep I have a club maker in my city who loves this brand. I have a full wedge set 50,54,58 of Maltby.
ОтветитьGabe please review the Maltby TE+ irons. Supposedly outstanding and excellent value.
ОтветитьYou seem to play exceptionally well regardless of the Make/Model/Brand club you pick up. Proving to me that it’s not the club but the player.
ОтветитьThese vs Takomo 101's ?
ОтветитьI have been building clubs for about 15 years. It is actually very easy and can be enjoyable to do. I stopped building fw's and drivers because I believe the OEM's are better. Currently, I am playing the Maltby STi2 irons with a Fujikura graphite shaft. Because Golfworks will build them for a cheap price, I had them do these. These are my favorite irons ever. I have compared them with most major brands and I prefer these. My handicap has gotten down to an 11. I attribute it to the accuracy and consistency of my iron play. I highly recommend Golfworks. Thank you for doing this video. It is important for people to know that there are options for good affordable clubs. I look forward to more.
ОтветитьIf I borrowed my friend's clubs, and played 9 holes with them, and got 8 birdie opportunities when playing those 9 holes, I would buy those clubs from my friend without hesitation. And if, on that same trial 9 holes, I only scored plus 1, I might ask my friend if I could borrow his putter for the back 9.
Just sayin' .... ;)
Please do a Maltby MAX wedge and PTM4 Putter review!
ОтветитьIn my opinion a good player can have a good round with any brand of clubs. What I noticed is your putting pace is spot on. What practice routine do you have for putting? Great video as always. I can't wait to see what you bring to 2024.
ОтветитьI play the Sti-2irons customized to grip and length, really like them.
ОтветитьWhat’s your favorite wedges? Have you use T22 Mizunos?
ОтветитьGreat job. I have building clubs for around 60 years. I worked for MacGregor Golf for a few years as a young man and learned allot from seasoned designers. I used allot of components from the parent company Ralph Maltby which is now Golf Works. One thing to mention is that if you do build your own clubs, certain tools are needed such as a good swing weight scale or your build will be could be very inconsistent. Also, with some component manufactures, the grooves are not very consistent and not very durable. Thanks again for the great job
ОтветитьThis is my exact iron setup. Wouldn’t trade them for anything on the market.
Ответить30° 7 iron is a 6 iron....
ОтветитьAwesome to see Maltby/Golfworks make the channel! Hoping to see more of their lines (TS1-IM, TS3, TS4 would be my picks).
ОтветитьI'm knew and loving what u r doing
ОтветитьPlease please review the malty STI 2 Irons!
ОтветитьGood review not great. Your overall rating however is not correct.
Based on your own rating for each catogory the overall rating is 3.4/5 so how the ffff do you give it a 4?
Try the forged Maltby stuff it’s really good!
