Truly well done. But your repeated presumption that Dean was <cough> queer (or even identified as such) falls flat. Do I think he cynically slept with men in order to literally not starve or sleep in the streets? Absolutely. Do I think that makes him unimpeachably gay? Absolutely. Not. What is, however, evident is that Dean's dalliances were in sync with a ferociously ambitious (desperate?) 20-something actor leveraging sullen beauty and riveting talent to either crawl or scale the heights. In that context, occasional affairs with men to get ahead didn't make him gay so much as it made him a pragmatic hustler (and survivor) in a notoriously predatory industry. Elizabeth Taylor's revelation is utterly believable. As is Natalie Woods'. In which case, Dean's childhood molestation--and in turn--sexual abusiveness towards women alongside exploitive, sporadic, relations with men for advantage (without necessarily being gay) makes far more sense. And jibes with the existing evidence. James himself put it unambiguously-best: “No, I am not a homosexual. But, I’m also not going to go through life with one hand tied behind my back.”

I have read every book on James Dean. There was never a romance of Monroe and James. She was not his type. Taylor was his best friend. Pier was the one he loved.

Seems like every Hollywood star... Especially men. Where is secretly gay. The reason is they were probably on a predators radar for fame and were subjected to that lifestyle. Then they were confused.
