What happened in 1971 was the end of the gold standard.

It enabled the theft of a person's earning by banksters through the simple process of printing of money.

I'm on the "right-wing populist" side of things but I agree that this guy has a point. Whether you like Trump or not, the guy in this video is onto something. Societies are insanely complex systems, so it's nigh-impossible to predict the exact year of collapse/chaos (it's really a chance prediction; you might as well pick the year by throwing darts), BUT there are trends we can observe that increase the volatility/conflict potential of society.

A lesson can be taken from the collapse of the Roman Republic and the (violent) transition to Empire. The underlying principle - when people are unable to have stable livelihoods, society becomes more volatile and at higher risk for violent conflict. So, when we see living standards dropping in the West, we can expect things to get more chaotic unless the living-standard issue is remedied.

Though there is some merit to the idea of elite over supply, there is much more danger of overshoot of overpopulation versus the regeneration of natural resources, global warming due to burning fossil fuels in a capitalist industrial system with the modern huge urban sprawl cancers (cities ) where most humans now live . In the past , before c 76 years ago 76 years , most humans lived in rural areas . Although poverty, disease, dirty water was ever present; in case of collapse due to wars, disease etc: most people in the country side had some access to wild food, gardens , fruit trees and small livestock ( chickens, goats , cows etc ) so as to survive. Now huge urban sprawl cites are just human feed lots that with in a week or so with out trucking in food, pumping water from far away reservoirs, lakes , rivers or deep wells, with out sewage pumping and treatment the billions in cities and towns now will die in weeks in place , of killed on sight by by rural people when they flood out into the country side. Lack of homesteading skills , tools , seeds and access to farm land and water, mass death is the harsh reality . Unfair land distribution (c5-10% own most of the rural land , with massive weapons. I am a rural land owner & homesteader. You city folks are DOOMED.
