I started learning about Everest 5 years ago, and I became deeply fascinated ever since, learning about all the deaths up there, the lengths people push to, but something about it just calls to me, something about the extreme conditions, the danger and all the deaths makes me wanna tackle the fear and face the challenge, I wanna have a chance to stand up there one day. I’m 18 now, and I really hope to start off with something small and work my way up over the course of around 10 years or so and really get some experience before attempting such an adventure. It’s become a dream of mine to accomplish. Your video was very inspiring and informative.

Ive been hiking and trekking for a long time, I can hike up almost everything in my country and i scramble a lot, i always go off paths on steep rocky terrain to climb. I dont have anyone to go rock climbing or winter mountaineering with, because im 14 yo i dont personally know anyone who would like to take me (even if i paid) out to climb. I dont have anyone to introduce me to winter mountaineering, i cant go on a course either because of my age and dont know any climbers, except the mother of a friend, but i doubt she would take me with her, because of course i am too fucking young.

I’ve always liked the thought of it but never done it so far. Hiked low mountains (2000 or so ft) on steep trails but that’s about it. Even that though it felt like a challenging achievement compared to anything else I do and it made me want to do more of the same but bigger. Watched 14 Peaks which I absolutely loved and I’m not likely to ever do an 8000m or anything, but just more things that are the biggest challenge to ME, whatever they are… would be awesome to be in the snowline though as I’m moving back to New Zealand. I started watching videos about horror stories of moutain climbing...then documentarys about climbers ..and the whole time alls I could think was what makes a person decide that they want to climb these dangerous mountains and what's the point ...now I feel like I have to climb one to find out ...and now I'm here .

Huh that’s a good idea. I’ve only ever climbed like 3 mountains during the winter and they were about 3,000ft. I should go try something more intense to see if I truly love it. Although I’m pretty sure I will

my question is simple one day out of quirosity I tried to climb side of a ridge but had no climbing equipment so just using my hands and legs and laying low ( with my small dog ( 8 lb ) in one hand ) I did it but coming down is harder I held on to small plants and small trees to help my self or get foothold now how could I use just 16 ft. rope I have to help me ( like wrap the rope around tree trunk and use the both sides and ease myself holding rope in both hands to ease down to leadge 10 ft. down then pull on one side of rope to bring rope down but going up how can I use just simple 16 ft. rope to go up?

I think it’s important to understand that you don’t need to travel to the corners of the globe to find adventure. I’ve had amazing experiences hiking and climbing in the white mtns of New Hampshire. 3 hours from my house.

I am so glad that you have this channel. The info that you offer. I live in SoCal and am a hiker, not a mountaineerer (if that's a term) I've gone up to Mt San Jacinto, Big bear, Baden Powell, the list goes on. This past year I hiked from Mexico to the Sierra. I went down close to a snow bridge in the sludge in 2/19 self arresting, barely. I've found myself with microspikes on ice and they slid like they were ice skates. A couple of days ago a hiker died in Taquits peak area of San Jacinto, 2 years ago someone else did. I think I have learned to keep my ego at bay and know when to turn around. 2019 a couple of hikers made national news because they were lost going up to Cucamonga peak in the San Gabriels we were there a week prior and turned around. This stuff is no joke. You are talking about Denali and Everest. OMG, this message needs to go out to the thru hikers and weekend warriors so to speak. Not to think that it's a walk in park.
