Well, this is all really fun stuff to think about, but there are reasonable answers to some of the conundrums, and I imagine if I know about a few of them, there are much more knowledgeable people who know more. I think we have to give our ancestors more credit for intelligence than we often do. They learned from mistakes just as we do. We look at ancient marvels and think “we couldn’t do that”, but I think it is wiser to say “we wouldn’t do that”, because we have found other solutions to problems and easier ways of doing things.
