I think Gnome team should hire guys from System76 and integrate all DE fratures from Cosmic in to Gnome.

My main doubt is this: I am using a gaming laptop but I don't game much on it now a days so I want to shift from windows to linux. If I install POP_OS or ubuntu linux will it effect my nvidia drivers?

I'm using Pop Us. I just got Pop Os upated to Kernel 6.5.7. I like Pop Os because it'shas a modern feel. Pop has new Kernel support. Linux Mint feels outdated and has small icons sometimes unreadable. Pop Os has an easier installer to understand. Mint is running on old Kernel and might break if you install the new Kernel. Pop Os also has a recover option if you need to reinstall the Os which is cool to have. I got KDE installed on my Pop Os exerience so that I can change the Login Screen Background.

I tried migrating from Windows to POp OS, it got stuck and corrupt my harddrive., and couldn't login back to Windows until I formatted the harddrive...!

Pop_OS seems like something I can enjoy, not just live with. I am looking for something to run on the Pi4, using standard tools. Many alternative OSes require a Uefi shim or mods to the Pi eeprom. It seems System76 has tamed Ubuntu's Gnome. Plain Gnome is just not my thing, I hit it and bounced. I think I can work with Pop_OS's tamed Gnome.

I use Linux Mint. It is UBUNTU based like pop OS. POP looks immature like something a child would use.

personal experience
after trying many I found MX Linux is better, stable, making full OS backup iso and reinstall to new or same pc if got problems, pip install not supported, it uses pipx Or install code from flatpack so it will have its own envoiremnt so you worn't have crashes or sligish And if any problem restore os from your iso (snaphot of you previous linux with all apps installed)

The only real bummer with PopOS vs Ubuntu is the lack of Secure Boot support for dual booting with Windows 11. That's still exclusive to Ubuntu.

Just moved to it from Ubuntu. And found that now Touchegg gestures, they've embedded, are working smoothly with Wayland.

I switched to it but it had a dealbreaker. It doesn't work with secureboot and the baggage that comes with enabling secure boot on pop os just isn't worth it.

This channel deserves so many viewers. Unfortunately, I think the idea that Linux is for geeks persist, and the worst part is that maybe only geeks are tech-curious enough as to discover Linux themselves, in the first place.

Been using it for a week or so. It has been the most stable distro I've used in a while, which is more important to me than basically anything else. It's the first one that handles sleep/wake without crashing or ignoring me.

Dude pop os 18.something was even better in my opinion
As someone that needs to multi-task at all times the app tray and workspaces being one button aka the win key along with the hot corner turned my shitty laptop into a speed freak

Cosmic is after KDE Plasma really good. I don't like Vanilla Gnome, so I am happy to see that PopOS uses/makes their own DE that they will make completely independend

I absolutely hate any screen that is a touch screen, or that you have to take your finger and swipe! It doesn't take very long on these devices for the screens to start looking crappy. This is why I avoid them like the plague.

sorry, but I think all these hundreds of versions don't make much sense!... better would be that all these people would work in much less versions and put together the caracteristics of each of the systems!... in the end, 20 or 30 for America and even less in Europe would be more than enough!... and maybe we could end up with a few very good products!... seams to me, that it would be much more intresting as a offer to the wider audience and more usefull to implement in a much larger scale!...just an opinion, obviously!...

I hate the installer. I don't know if it's just my pc or something but the 2 times I've tried installing it it just repeatedly crashes and I can't even begin partitioning a drive without it crashing but the mint installer worked perfectly plus installing nvidia drivers is very easy.

Linux was struggling with switchable graphics in Laptops 10 years ago. It pains me to see that it still requires a restart in 2023 and that fractional scaling still isn't a smooth experience.
