I think Gnome team should hire guys from System76 and integrate all DE fratures from Cosmic in to Gnome.
ОтветитьMy main doubt is this: I am using a gaming laptop but I don't game much on it now a days so I want to shift from windows to linux. If I install POP_OS or ubuntu linux will it effect my nvidia drivers?
ОтветитьIs it possible to make the scroll bar wider? This thin thing is inhuman.
ОтветитьI'm using Pop Us. I just got Pop Os upated to Kernel 6.5.7. I like Pop Os because it'shas a modern feel. Pop has new Kernel support. Linux Mint feels outdated and has small icons sometimes unreadable. Pop Os has an easier installer to understand. Mint is running on old Kernel and might break if you install the new Kernel. Pop Os also has a recover option if you need to reinstall the Os which is cool to have. I got KDE installed on my Pop Os exerience so that I can change the Login Screen Background.
ОтветитьI tried migrating from Windows to POp OS, it got stuck and corrupt my harddrive., and couldn't login back to Windows until I formatted the harddrive...!
ОтветитьPop_OS seems like something I can enjoy, not just live with. I am looking for something to run on the Pi4, using standard tools. Many alternative OSes require a Uefi shim or mods to the Pi eeprom. It seems System76 has tamed Ubuntu's Gnome. Plain Gnome is just not my thing, I hit it and bounced. I think I can work with Pop_OS's tamed Gnome.
Ответитьhave you thought about creating your own distro?
ОтветитьI'm enjoying it so far and it's faster than Windows 11.
Ответитьi think popos is what im gonna go with when i make the switch from windows!
ОтветитьI stopped using pop because my wifi would stop working after putting the computer in sleep mode.
ОтветитьI use Linux Mint. It is UBUNTU based like pop OS. POP looks immature like something a child would use.
Ответитьpersonal experience
after trying many I found MX Linux is better, stable, making full OS backup iso and reinstall to new or same pc if got problems, pip install not supported, it uses pipx Or install code from flatpack so it will have its own envoiremnt so you worn't have crashes or sligish And if any problem restore os from your iso (snaphot of you previous linux with all apps installed)
The only real bummer with PopOS vs Ubuntu is the lack of Secure Boot support for dual booting with Windows 11. That's still exclusive to Ubuntu.
ОтветитьJust moved to it from Ubuntu. And found that now Touchegg gestures, they've embedded, are working smoothly with Wayland.
ОтветитьI switched to it but it had a dealbreaker. It doesn't work with secureboot and the baggage that comes with enabling secure boot on pop os just isn't worth it.
ОтветитьThis channel deserves so many viewers. Unfortunately, I think the idea that Linux is for geeks persist, and the worst part is that maybe only geeks are tech-curious enough as to discover Linux themselves, in the first place.
ОтветитьToo many issues with pop os
ОтветитьCan you install this with ZFS instead of EXT?
ОтветитьReally agree on some explanation of Flatpak vs Debian packages. As a newbie, that's confusing.
Ответитьi used pop os for a while like a year ago and it was awesome
ОтветитьI finally beat you, I predicted the sponsor segue
ОтветитьBeen using it for a week or so. It has been the most stable distro I've used in a while, which is more important to me than basically anything else. It's the first one that handles sleep/wake without crashing or ignoring me.
ОтветитьI would switch but I’m worried about my apps and stuff
Ответить/me goes nuts and tells you how /me hates it. ;)
Ответитьsticking with Linux mint cinnamon wont distro hop.
ОтветитьGreat channel. Very useful.
Ответитьscrolling in ANY browser is horrible. I'd switch if they could fix that
ОтветитьSo does that make deepin Linux better?
ОтветитьDude pop os 18.something was even better in my opinion
As someone that needs to multi-task at all times the app tray and workspaces being one button aka the win key along with the hot corner turned my shitty laptop into a speed freak
Cosmic is after KDE Plasma really good. I don't like Vanilla Gnome, so I am happy to see that PopOS uses/makes their own DE that they will make completely independend
ОтветитьPopShop is the worst part of the os! They really should work on that!
Ответитьthe latest tuxedo generation are awesome, i have an old one, where the food sometimes get loose and the screen is slightly wobbly, but over all already great machines ... the new one are even better :-)
ОтветитьMight get a cheap laptop and throw pop on there to try it out.
ОтветитьDual booting support is missed
ОтветитьIt was also the only one to recognize my RAID.
ОтветитьI absolutely hate any screen that is a touch screen, or that you have to take your finger and swipe! It doesn't take very long on these devices for the screens to start looking crappy. This is why I avoid them like the plague.
ОтветитьI just replaced my Windoes 11 os with Pop OS.
ОтветитьCan be installed on any device really? A quick search shows it doesn't seem to be the case for the Pinebook Pro...
Ответитьsorry, but I think all these hundreds of versions don't make much sense!... better would be that all these people would work in much less versions and put together the caracteristics of each of the systems!... in the end, 20 or 30 for America and even less in Europe would be more than enough!... and maybe we could end up with a few very good products!... seams to me, that it would be much more intresting as a offer to the wider audience and more usefull to implement in a much larger scale!...just an opinion, obviously!...
ОтветитьALL THING EVERY ONE IS DOING THE SAME ALL ABOUT HOW THINGS WORK THE IMPORTANT THING WHAT GOS ON WHEN U PLUG IN EXTERNAL HDD AND PLAY FROM USB STICK AND WHAT HAPPEN WHEN PLAYER PLAYS FROM THESE DEVICE'S THEY DONT WORK ON ANYTHING THATS ON LATEST UPDATES MINT AND SOME OTHERS CRAP
ОтветитьTHE FIST FAIL IS ON ITS WAY THEY ARE GOING TO SWITCH TO YEARLY RELEASES NOT FOR ME THEN
ОтветитьInformative and I'll give POP Linux a try.
ОтветитьI hate the installer. I don't know if it's just my pc or something but the 2 times I've tried installing it it just repeatedly crashes and I can't even begin partitioning a drive without it crashing but the mint installer worked perfectly plus installing nvidia drivers is very easy.
ОтветитьHi @The Linux Environment
Kindly what OS are you currently using?
I wonder how stable it is long term? the only Linux distro that I have ever been able to permanently add to a device without reinstalling or replacing is vanilla Ubuntu. I will always recommend vanilla Ubuntu to new and returning users.
ОтветитьI didn't know all that stuff about the launcher
ОтветитьI doubted on this so much until I tried it and I just couldn't believe they just fixed gnome. Like, I figured no one would try harder than ubuntu but MAN Pop is good.
ОтветитьLinux was struggling with switchable graphics in Laptops 10 years ago. It pains me to see that it still requires a restart in 2023 and that fractional scaling still isn't a smooth experience.
