Millennial here. I would NEVER renovate a house like that. I’m keeping the staircase and the fireplace. We’re not all obsessed with whatever the hell color “greige” is.
ОтветитьAs A German..... NEIN!!! GERMANS ASSEMBLE
ОтветитьGuess I have to dust off my masters degree from interior design and combat fellow millennials with my superior knowledge
ОтветитьI just need to know what’s in the boom boom sauce on the Blue Mountain Chicken Sandwich at the Rainforest Cafe. 🤔 no for real. Is it a** or gas? 🤣
ОтветитьHi! I am late and not German, but Austrian (I hope this counts :) ). First I have NEVER EVER head of the german smear technique. And second I don't think any of my german friennds would aprove this... 🥲
ОтветитьNEEEIIINNNN!!!!!!(German
ОтветитьNEIN!!!!!!!
ОтветитьNein, einfach nein! Ich dachte, es wäre nicht sooooo schlimm, aber anscheinend doch 🤦🏼♀️
German here ❤
(Translation: No, just no! I thought, it wouldn’t be that bad, but it is)
Uh-Uh - I had to nope outta there. Seriously - I couldn't even FINISH this video, I just got too triggered/enraged/Argh! 😠👿😢😭
Ответитьwhy are you kindaaa..nvm
ОтветитьAs a german i do not aprove of anything that has been shown in this video.
ОтветитьMillennials can buy houses? Really?? I honestly had no idea we could afford it lmao
Ответитьflint stone core
Ответитьas a German I do not approve
ОтветитьOne person's "modern vibe" is another person's sterile, corporate hellscape
ОтветитьScheisse!!
ОтветитьTo be an influencer DIYer, you must have Ryboi and have no background in construction and question or challenge professionals in construction and then cry when it fails or get criticism, plus they all paint them the same colours and use the same items or designs and act they're original when they've copied hundreds of others 😂 because it helps with clicks and drive the same cars or own the same homes
ОтветитьThe last time I watched HGTV was about 15 years ago, when a woman DESTROYED a beautiful mid-century house to make it into an urban farmhouse. The house had two stories with a 2-story glass terrarium in the center that brought in light and greenery. It was stunning... She closed it off. 😖
The house had a sunken living room with beautiful semi-circular cascading stairs, about 5 steps down... She demo'd them and replaced them with plain, boring narrow stairs. 😞
I feel like ya'll are just hating just to hate at this point, so what they wanna renovate the house? It THEIR house that they bought with THEIR money to make it suit their aesthetic, and maybe the reason why they bought the house it's because they saw the neighborhood and the potential of it because what they'll like 🤷♀️
ОтветитьI am so so mad at the staircase one, I can't even believe it. Nevermind if it's to your taste or not, the sheer amount of skilled craftwork that went into making something like that is phenomenal, and what it's been replaced with is as far away from craftsmanship as it's possible to get. A feature like that staircase is a work of art, and the value of the hundreds of hours that went into making it means you shouldn't destroy it unless you've got something of equal value to replace it. These people have no appreciation or understanding whatsoever of skilled craft, but maybe if they did they'd understand that you don't trash something that would cost tens of thousands to recreate just to replace it with something that only costs hundreds of dollars to make. It's like throwing out an antique clock to replace it with a digital alarm clock from IKEA. Why do that? Why not just respect the treasure you have on your hands and find a way to make it work for you instead?
My grandparents house isn't too my personal taste but you literally couldn't recreate it these days, for any price, because so many of its elements just simply don't exist and aren't made anymore. What it is isn't my ideal choice, but it's somebody else's once-in-a-lifetime find, so I hope it ends up in the hands of someone like that rather than someone who has absolutely no appreciation for the rarity of all the vintage features and the craft that went into making them.
I bought a 1942 ww2 house, sad shape, nothing to brag about. I've given it a alpine lodge feel, lots of stained naughty alder wood and black fixtures.
ОтветитьIm watching this as im watching HGTV and im so annoyed by this. Those homes were beautiful... wtf
ОтветитьThese people don’t deserve houses.
ОтветитьIn the Future, when millennials get old and ugly, as gen z we must reclaim these houses and bring back the whimsy historical look.
ОтветитьI really hope the people selling the house with the foam beam told the buyers that the lighting is hanging off a damn foam beam.
ОтветитьI'm reminded of a story where someone talked about how there was a guy in the 70s or before that who made the floor of the basement have some 2x4's sticking vertically so that the cement would settle level or go in or something relatively easy and just never took the wood out. Fast forward to how he now has the house and the reason why it was sold is the guy who made the basement got tired of it flooding every single time there was a change in the water table because when she know it the wood rotted away.
Yeah, the part that upsets me the most about them putting cement over exposed wood is that it is going to hurt somebody, and it's not going to hurt somebody when they own that house.
As a german, that fireplace looks unfinished AF, we germans do not approve
ОтветитьTf y’all on? Some of those look pretty nice.
ОтветитьNEINNNNN!!!!!
ОтветитьDid anyone notice that the "child safe" stairs didn't have railings?
ОтветитьDo what you want to your own home, but if you're not planning to live there... just don't. You're realistically losing money on something that didn't need to be changed.
ОтветитьI’m a German not a proving of that Schmier-Technik …
I think it’s really sad to buy a cool old house just to make it boring.
Those stairs could’ve been like lifted moves or literally anything 😭
Ответить“I want a modern vibe!” THEN BUY A MODERN HOUSE YOU CRUSTY WHITE WOMAN THE GHOST IN THAT VICTORIAN HOUSE IS GONNA GET YOU SO BAD
can you tell I hate when ppl destroy Victorian homes..?
First artists are out of their jobs and now their potential studio rooms are being “modernized”
ОтветитьI had to nope out of it at the fireplace. Dear god that was ugly. Freaking WHY do that! God. The original wasn't to my taste but that abomination of a renovation just....there was no upside
ОтветитьI AM MERELY ONE FOURTH GERMAN BUT I DO NOT APPROVE 🤢🤮
ОтветитьThis bs white paint trend has to be getting out of popularity soon… right? They’re painting brick out there. It’s killing me
ОтветитьModern design = 1970s soviet housing blocks
ОтветитьWow, it actually happened. Funkyfrogbait covered a topic in a video that I can't actually bear to watch all the way through, lest I burst into flames and panic-decorate my room in vintage wood furniture to cope with the stomach-turning, vile destruction I'm witnessing.
ОтветитьIt's my personal opinion that folks like this should at the very least be subject to having their flips inspected & fined for all the changes that aren't up to code / made to hire professionals out of their own pocket to fix everything.
At the most extreme, their choices to strip homes of all unique/valuable features should follow them & they should be barred from buying houses altogether.
Or forced to live in whatever they do buy & flip for a minimum of 5 years before selling at barely a profit.
German here!
No.
I feel that reaction on "It´s literally our dreamhouse."
If it´s your dreamhouse, than why do change everything in it?
Crisp Rat and his partner bought a beautiful mid-century home recently, and demolished it all to build.... modern farmhouse. The style you can find in homes anywhere these days, or build to taste with Pratt money. But no, they had to demolish something unique and historic to do it.
