I'm living in a tent because I'm homeless. Im in Niagara falls NY right now it's 11° outside. I'm so cold. I wish I had a wood stove 😢 my tent is a winter tent and blocks wind thank goodness! I just hope hypothermia doesn't set in. Good luck tho you have a nice set up.

Gotta get a two stroke if you want it to start when it’s cold! That oil is too thick at-35 for any starter to crank a 4-stroke!

what if you brought a canvas tarp to make a sort of partition when you need to move the cot closer, to make it a smaller space and maybe trap some more heat.

Engine oil should be 0W40 full synthetic, and a new battery. My 900 ACE starts at -40. I keep it on a maintainer when it’s at home too, don’t have a block heater though.

You can hear how cold it is by the high pitch squeak of his footprints in the snow. Im currently watching this inside my nice warm house, but with similar temperatures outside. It was around -25C daytime today and it’s falling below -30C currently at 11pm, probably bottom out at a low of -34C. I went out today and took my ATV batteries inside and put them on the tender, started my snowblower for a bit just to let it run and get moving, and filled my truck with gas from my storage jerry cans and plugged in the block heater and battery blanket. I also chopped some wood for the stove. Its not my main source of heat, i have a furnace, but i love the feeling of wood heat in the living room. Im planning an overnight ice fishing trip next weekend now that the cold weather hit us… i love the challenge of survival in the winter! I get a real strong sense of accomplishment and peace out there thriving in such extreme conditions. But of course i have all the best equipment, gear and machinery my money can buy lol so im not roughing it by any means, but even so it’s still a huge challenge and takes careful planning and hard work. I used to bring a propane blower heater and an insulated tarp when my older more unreliable sled wouldn’t start lol i used an old dryer accordion style vent to direct the hot air right into the engine and left it all covered for about 30 to 45 minutes. Would usually fire right up

Jay eats so much butter, mayonaise, cheeze-wiz, bacon and high fat garbage, he may have heart disease. Then again, when its cold, you do need a lot of calories to maintain body temp. Enjoying his channel

The cold saps batters quick

Have you ever thought about a ceiling fan of some sort to help circulate the warm air in the tent? It would likely help considerably with the cold floor - hot up top problem.
They make solar, and or battery powered ones I'm sure you could find pretty easily.

get a capacitor starter box. how it works is can charge on a depleted low voltage battery and then allowed a short high voltage burst.
it works in cold temps and has no batterys, so nothing to worry about, safe to store.

You need a length of chain with a hook for splitting wood so you dont have to chase and pick up the pieces
Wrap the chain about mid way around the round of wood then split it into 4’s with out them falling on the ground

just a tip on the zippo lighter. it wasn't the cold that made it not start it was that it was recently filled and topped off. when you open the lid theres too much fuel vaper not enough air mix. try blowing on it or waving the zippo when you fire it up next time.

Basically when you boil water all you are doing is exciting the molecules and they start violently moving around (boiling) which is prolly why its shaking all the energy release melting -35 water to over 150.
