I don't understand your dead eye criticism. It was improved in every way in 2 and definitely the gore is 10x better and more realistic. I think you should revisit the first because its not even close IMO.

Fall 2023 rdr2 still the only game that feels "next gen" even though its a last gen game

The only things I disagree with you on are Chapters 3 and 6. I can understand how 3 could be a bit meandering for some, but the story of these families was the most fun I had in the whole game. As for 6, there was no way that felt rushed at all. It was the part the whole game had been building towards with every single development.

Just started playing this 2023 end and man oh man it’s a fantastic game. I care for Arthur, I care my horse, I care for the camp members, so damn involving. I keep getting side tracked which is a major issue but also fun. Travelling from place to place so slowly is a bit annoying but I suppose part of the game and pace of the game. I don’t know how many years it’ll take me to finish but hopefully in the next 2 years 😂

Im 45 years old, been gaming since atari, red dead 2 is the best game ive ever played.

Rdr2 is a fantastic open world game with fantastic open world gameplay. It even has a fantastic story. But the mission gameplay is FING TERRIBLE! And the checkpoint/save system is complete garbage. Take 10 steps in the wrong direction to shoot an enemy and you fail the mission. Die, respawn, and the game takes your weapons. I'm sorry, I was playing with a sniper and a shotgun, but thanks for respawning me with the stupid repeater, and no way to access my horse. Rockstar needs to find a way to make the missions work in an open world game, not the heavily scripted, linear garbage that they are.

Only Rockstar is able to match itself again now. Fingers crossed for gta 6

i never liked rockstar's approach of "let's have the main characters talk in slightly incomprehensible slang on the way to the destination" in main missions... i dont wanna be reading or try to listen very carefully while doing my best not to ride my horse into a tree because otherwise i could miss important character developments. they started doing it in GTA 4 and never stopped ever since. remember Little Jacob's "Hot Box" Scene in the car? That dude NEVER shuts up and speaks in the thickest most cliché patois accent and im supposed to be listening? hell nah, ft

In my personal and unchangeable opinion is that Red Dead Redemption 2 is a masterpiece beyond human understanding and is THE only absolute perfect game there is and this is what i think and you can think otherwise but this is what i think.

The details are so beautiful and good… no other game can compare!

This game needs a hardcore mode like rdr 1. Playing in free aim helps but man can Arthur take shots like terminator. I want a CHALLENGE!

Dunno why they call RDR2 a masterpiece to be honest, it had a whole array of issues that tank its score for me, first is the enemy variation, namely, there isnt any, you fight 1 enemy the entire game, guy with gun, imagine skyrim but you fight 1 bandit with a sword the entire game, you'd be blasting it to hell yet RDR2 gets a free pass? why? its just a guy with a gun and the gun type doesnt even matter, they all die and act the same so it gets meh after the first hour the issue with it being based in western times shows through here given how limited they are as to what they can do enemie wise - Two, loot is garbage, there's literally nothing to find thats interesting so after a couple hours you'll probably stop looting all together - three because you only fight 1 enemy the guns dont matter at all, the first gun you get will kill a guy with a headshot just as well as any other so there's very little point except visual reasons to upgrade weapons, four because the game is grounded in western times and in reality its very, how to say, predictable and just as boring as you'd expect western times to be, I mean the side games are boring and I wouldn't play them IRL let alone in a game, dominoes they play at my dads retirement home, poker, meh, hunting, kinda pointless in the long run, all in all, the 'Game' itself is boring as hell its more the 'movie' part of it that gives it its high score, as a game though its vee~ry far from being anywhere close to a masterpiece

It's the year 2024 and RDR2 is still my favorite game EVER

I'm playing this in 2024. Played in 2018, but I dont know why but I couldnt get into it. But this time, i have a baby and enjoying the slower pace much more now. It's therapeutic for me. Such a good game.

Certainly is. Still run into the occasional glitch. However, this is on my Top 3 favorite. I’m playing it again, currently about to start chapter 4. Man, this game will take chunks of your time without even realizing it. I go hunt a cougar, 2 hours later I’m like dang, where does the time go.

My only complaint is, and this is a big one. We never got a series X update. Nor did they update Undead nightmare that might I say is pretty much one of the best if not the best DLC to date.

Why do you all think we got a GTA VI instead of a RDR3? I think it’s because they can put way more pop culture references and they’d make more from the online aspect.

This game has the BEST story of any game. It’s like a blockbuster movie but you get to play it, it got me pretty damn emotional too. Definitely get this game

i don't think its a masterpiece, the combat is just stop and pop shooting.. it lacks variety and strategy

RDR2 is a masterpiece bit the game sure as hell has some.very frustrating and annoying mechanics.
I kinda wish the game had purchasable properties. and also the an option to disable all the unnecessary small animations. like for example you want to loot dead NPCs. the animation to loot a dead NPC takes forever and is very annoying.

also some chapters are indeed boring.
chapter 5 in Guarma was boring as hell.
and I also didn't really like chapter 3 with the location being this Louisiana style environment with plantation families and in general having a humid warm environment with swamps and alligators everywhere.

I kinda wish that the state of Ambarino had an actual settlement in which a small town is inhabited by NPCs and you have shops, a saloon, gunsmith, etc.

Ambarino feels empty. also in the epilogue, the state of New Austin was completely unnecessary to be included. New Austin literally has no content or interesting to do.
only 2 bounty mission in Tumbleweed. that's it.

so instead of New Austin, Rockstar should have developed Ambarino more with a living city up in the snowy mountains. that would have been amazing.

Rockstar doesn't need to innovate.

Just put out quality products.

You nerds think innovation means good or better and it strictly doesn't.

I dont get the "outdated" criticism. Outdated means that something has been replaced by something way better, so what do other big open world games do that rdr2 doesn't??? Every open world game is structured in linear missions, so why is it only critisised in rdr2 and not on other games ?

Phenomenal game

I have seen a lot of reviews and must play game list and there are two extremes. 99% would call rdr2 as peak but some call it boring and too lengthy. Views?
