Do a super well researched corrosion prevention video.

Greetings from australia you are right as a tradesman in the industry since16 i have seen and done it all and there are many oils out there brand wise but as you say few refiners i for years in every thing i owned from high perfomance v eights to the boats to the wifes shopping trolley was penzoil but its dissapeared here and this has vexed me as i never had an issue in 40years no leaks no rebuilds it was mineral oil and i believe harley davisson used it too my daughter has a v6 ford and she uses semi stn and it has just developed a leak at the main sump seal due to lack of use and parking in a hill anyway thank you for your info and you are right i can attest to this by 54 years in the industry regards 😊😊😊😊

When I use dino oil in motor and transmission of my harley, they're much quieter than synthetic oil! I tried both in 10 different Harleys over the last 20 years and the dino , they're much quieter and the transmission shifts much better!

It's better to change your oil regularly with cheaper oil than use super expensive synth oil and rarely change oil.

Eric the Car Guy, I just found out that AUTOWERKS says never to use Synthetic oil. Also, check your oil filter for contamination. How to check the oil filter without draining the engine oil? Turn the car upside down? 😂😂😂

Thanks for the pro tips. About to try synthetic at about 95K later this year. Always been conventional at approximately 3,750 miles per owners manual. Figured that can take it to one oil change a year or 10K.

Garbage, sir. I've had two bad experiences with synthetic oil. It caused an Toyota 22RE with only 5000 miles on it start leaking. And it ruined a 2006 Honda Civic engine through a simple valve cover leak. I will never have a synthetic oil engine again.

You left out the part where, if they switch and/or mix synthetic lubricants with Castrol castor bean oil, the lubricant WILL, not probably, not most likely, turn into a thick non-lubricating Jelly in their engine. And you got a couple of things right on both petroleum and synthetic lubricant products, but! There's way more to both lubricants history. I'd like to do a podcast together or video for the customer's sake. And you might take away some new fact's that might be revelatory.

Hi Eric, i have worked most of my life in auto parts and service with many different techs and no one has ever explained to me why shops not only recommend the mileage when to change your oil but also time, eg, 4000 miles or 12 months which ever comes first, or even 5 months. Is it just away of bringing in more work for the shop?

From what I understand, conventional oil works better in older engines, and by “older” I mean engines circa 1990 and earlier. This doesn’t mean you can’t use it on newer engines or late model cars but the reason I’m saying that is that I imagine the flow rate would be different from its synthetic counterparts despite having the same viscosity and I imagine engines nowadays are tightly designed around the viscosity and flow rates for oil pressure.

Synthetic and conventional oils are not 100% interchangeably. For older engines yes for newer engines that call for a Synthetic Oil, they must have Synthetic oil used at all times. Oil passages and clearances on new engines are so tight that conventional oil will not flow properly and thus starve vital parts of oil.

Not to mention that conventional oils are made up of bigger molecules than your synthetics oil which are made of smaller molecules. Than you have synthetic blend which is a mixture of your bigger and smaller molecules. Your welcome

Leaks : Conventional oil will sludge, sludge clogs leaks. Changing your oil & filter will clean some of that sludge out and take it to the filter. Synthetic oil will loosen more sludge up then conventional oil. Once that sludge is gone, like you said, once it starts leaking, it will always leak. I ran synthetic oil in one of my vehicles from 3000 miles on, after 90,000 miles and 7 years no leaks. With that vehicle, i dumped oil & filter every 4 months whether I needed to or not, most dumps were between 3000 to 4000 miles. I would have kept that car, but my job sent me over seas, where unleaded was hard to find at the time.

That quite easier flow is true, but only at cold to warm temperature. When the thing gets hot, synthetics cover it all up and keep the parts separated.

Group lV and V base synthetic thru synthetic,
not group III fake synthetic oils only sold as full synthetic in USA,
RED LINE AND AMSOIL ARE ON JUST ONOTHER PLANET WHEN IT COMES TO SYNTHETIC MOTOR OIL,
Did multiple oil analysis testing at 5k oil interval interchange metal wear is 50%-80% lower than comparing to Mobil,Penzoil,Castrol,Valvoline Royal Purple.
5w20 is just fuel economy gimmick for fuel economy rebate.

When replacing the valve cover gaskets I could see that this practice has left this engine very clean. No indication of any sludge anywhere. Never any engine issues in all that time......

As an engineer who's had many cars in my time, I'm a big advocate for changing oil and using good quality filters. I regularly use synthetic and my cars do not consume oil between changes. I also am a big fan of buying American cars because the best jobs associated with American cars are here ... in America, not overseas.
