Today a friend from school turned up and honestly I am very disappointed and shocked with what I saw today. The guy turned up with his friends and they were taking drugs and threw their trash into the lake.

I left high school over a year ago & honestly this is so true; just because you share a common interest with a group of people doesn't mean they’re your friends. If the bond is good & healthy it's one thing but it's another thing around toxic people.

"You're not friends with them, you're friends with the same drug" I was a very young smoker but at some point at HS I made friends with this girl who always asked me how did that feel. The smoking. I knew she was curious about it so I never really offered anything to her because that's how I started and obs I didn't want her smoking. Anyway some day she saw me smoking and she came up to me and asked me to share, so in the moment I didn't think anything of it and just let her try it. And so after that everytime I was smoking somehow she was next to me, and we bonded with each other a lot because none of our friends smoked (we were a big friend group). Our friends knew I smoked but most didn't approve of it or didn't care at all. Still, my friend didn't want anyone to know she smoked. That just made us closer because I knew things about her that were shared during smoking chats or when we were alone togerher. She went on a party like 3 months ago (she invited me but I said no) and she asked to borrow my lighter, so I knew she was gonna smoke right. I didn't think much of it and just handed it over. The next day she gave it back to me at school and suddenly I was out of the equation. She had other friends to smoke with. And not just to smoke with, but to chat with while smoking. We haven't talked since then. I haven't smoked since then either. We fill out the blanks in other people's lives until they become voids in our own lives. But those are voids they are not always willing to fill.

There's only 2 things I have in common with my circle of 'friends' they are 1) We all have mental health issues and 2) We're all functioning addicts (mainly because of 1)

I've started my self improvement journey but there is this one friend who always asks if I wanna play video games. And kinda sucks me down a wormhole of laziness. But I know for a fact he is my friend and not just sharing the same drug as me. The reason I know is because he lives in my hometown and we used to play as kids everyday outside and were genuinelly close. Now me and my family relocated to austria so we just play video games because we obviously can't hang out. He is the kind of friend who would sacrifice himself just so save his friends. What is my ideal course of action here?

I am scared that the friends I want dont even exist. And that's why I feel like I am stuck compromising myself and tolerating their bs behavior

To my fellow young men on self development, I only had 3 close friends, I did not have the courage to tell them about my situation but after few months when I told them their true colours appeared right in front of me now I only have one close friend from among them and the two of them I just despise because I have seen their true colours trust me they are not your friends being lonely for sometime is better than never changing and hanging around with losers

Guys if your one person don't get deceived you cannot change four other losers in hopes of turning them into a winner you would just become a loser too because you are alone and you can't change them all together

Around Christmas last year me and my old friends got into a dune buggy accident thought we would work it out but instead they immediately went to lawyers and sueing thankfully nothing came of it and I was able to find new friends in a short amount of time so much better than the last guys

I went on a sleepover with my best friend at his house a few days ago. We were planning so much fun, horror movies, fitness. But when I got to his house without a laptop he got kinda sad. We were doing fine the first day. But the next day he said he was lazy to go to fitness, said he had to prepare for a guitar exam 2 weeks from that day and told me "It'll be better for you to go home so we can play Minecraft"
