hey there! i've seem all of your videos and they are very informative and have helped me with various questions and provided me motivation and i hope you don't mind but i think you should change your mic as it doesn't sound natural it feels kinda like a little bit machine generated and not so pleasant to listen to.
ОтветитьI’ve been on helpdesk/ service desk for 3 years now. And I run into egotistical coworkers and end users smh
ОтветитьI live around a bunch of old people that are taken advantage of by scammers online because they lack the knowledge of progressing technology advancements and I'm trying to stop that from happening. Plus, I want a job that I can take with me wherever I go even if I go overseas for months on end.
ОтветитьIm enrolled at WGU in their CSIA program and love every topic so far. Hmmm... your breakdown sounds like nursing 😆 I've been a nurse for 12 yrs and after watching ppl die, having piss thrown at you, nails dug so deep into your skin, it broke the skin, doctors yell at you, families yell at you, patients yell at you, blamed by nursing management for short staffing, uncooperative coworkers (CNAs, PCTs other nurses), oh yea and let's not forget about nurse ego of those who feel they're more compassionate and knowledgeable than you sir, I can't tell you how ready I am to burn my scrubs and my nursing license in exchange for a desk with 3-6 monitors, business casual attire, quiet atmosphere, working alongside egotistical people who I can feel comfortable learning from instead of those who are trying to have your licensed revoked, a salary that I can actually live off of without working double shifts and picking up a per diem shift just to pay a bill or having to travel all over the country just to make a decent salary (travel nursing) i could go on. I had COVID 3 times because of this career, and I look forward to all the pros and cons of cybersecurity. Thank you for your points of view, though! Sorry to have been so long, but honestly, nothing in CS can scare me after what I've been through in nursing 🥲
ОтветитьThere is no shortage, they just don't want to hire minorities to make up the difference.
ОтветитьWhat Elon has to do
ОтветитьHey man, so I’m currently in high school and I still don’t know what career I want to pursue, my dad has a OT company so I am thinking to pursue a cyber security career, what tips do you have?
ОтветитьGot a question what is CompTIA’s Healthcare IT?
ОтветитьFor the Ego bit, it sounds like you are running into competitive people. Their competitiveness can show on different dimensions. The solution, I'd say, is to give them more responsibility. The humility will come after when they either crack under the pressure or ask for help from others. In cybersecurity giving a person more responsibility and waiting for them to fail could be risky business, so the responsibility you bestow on them needs to be reasonable within security parameters. Befriending them and having friendly competitions also work. They just want to play. That's what I've found.
ОтветитьI am seeing several job postings for pentester roles asking for a BS Computer Science degree
ОтветитьI'm a cyber security operations manager and manage a team of 8 engineers. Most of what we do is restoring connections to VPN's, port configurations on routers and supporting customers when they need to a fresh install of an OS after an incident. Cyber security is such a broad term that it can really mean anything. You need to have a clear understanding of which aspect of cyber security you want to specialize in.
ОтветитьYeah Boreout totally is true! When you know it's a mature environment and nothing bad with consequence is likely to happen, and your job is a glorified insurance policy, the priority becomes allocating as much time as possible to doing certificates and upskilling during office hours whilst still looking like you're focused on your job.
Most of office chat is suburban dad jokes lol. Ego part is fun to watch - people acting like they're fighting at the frontline of WWIII - so long as you take that to be a circus show. Different personalities take little jabs at each other, half-joking half-serious.
Not the idealised elitist social environment a newbie would expect, but good thing is it takes away any imposter syndrome rather rapidly. One would think if these clowns can do the job, there's nothing stopping one from climbing much, much higher in the industry.
Screw all that. Working two warehouse jobs definitely aint it. A dread to some is a blessing to others. Im still goin all in! WOOOOOO!!
Ответитьbro just to clarify that was elon musk the ego guy you secretly were hinting
Ответитьhey man i read one site it told if we get hacking certificate from some of the institution it have short valid date but if we get college degree then it valid for whole life .. i'm currently learning hacking from institution can i need to choose 3 year undergraduate cyber security programme ... people use to say it give too many stress in cyber security job.. i think underdeveloped countries only provide huge opportunities to cyber security job in compare to developed country like your...
ОтветитьCan you discuss about Web3 security!! Pleaseeeeeeeeee
ОтветитьThe constant report of talent shortage while it’s nigh impossible to find an IT job with degree, certs and projects … is crazy.
ОтветитьSo in short what do you suggest to learn for the students like me getting into cyber security that is beneficial for the career . Please guide
ОтветитьI work in vulnerability management and after a couple of years, it has become mundane. I need to move out of it.
ОтветитьLOL you knew what you were doing when you showed Elon Musk for bad ego.
ОтветитьDo anyone know how to remove the x64dbg (32bit) virus ?? (It's icon look like a spider or a bug? 🕷️🐞
ОтветитьI’m glad to hear this, it sounds like any career you start. I work physical security right now. I figured it would be similar, but with a computer. As a security officer there is a lot to do but sometimes it feels like your not doing enough. Thank you for the realistic heads up.
ОтветитьHow much years of experience do you need to get a high salary as cyber analyst
ОтветитьFor the Ego folks, this quote always helps along with other people’s actions that are out of your control. Focus on what you can control, which is yourself. “You have power over your mind - not outside events. Realise this, and you’ll find strength”.
ОтветитьMin wen inte?
ОтветитьCybersecurity is a career that has a purpose. I still remember it during my first few weeks at the bootcamp. My instructor told me that at the end of the day, looking at the bigger picture, Cybersecurity is about protecting human life. Directly or indirectly. If you think about it, protecting critical infrastructure such as the power grid. If someone hundreds of thousand miles away takes out our power, how many people will die in the hospitals? What if it was in the peak of summer or winter, how many people will die of extreme heat or cold? What if someone poisons our water treatment system, changing the configuration and concentration of various chemicals making it hazardous and poisonous, how many people could die? If someone hacks through a website or a company containing sensitive information which lead to draining the savings and checking account of hard working people? It happened to someone I know, someone was able to steal his info and use it to get unemployment without him knowing. He found out about it 3 years later. Now he has to fix all of it and prove that it wasn’t him.
There is a lot of bad guys out there that operate outside the law and they are merciless and ruthless. They are strong, smart, organized, and they will not give 2 f*cks about inflicting harm or extorting money out of anybody. If they can, they will. Scorched earth. No mercy.
Its up to us to stop them. The work we do help stop them in their tracks, make it so much harder for them to do bad things to regular everyday hard working people. We help support law and order in the society. We are the protectors of the free world in our own way. There is purpose and reason in everything we do. We help in stopping things from going FUBAR along side with other careers that are related to security and defense.
will this burn out apply to cloud security as well? I'm guessing it is lol but hey it's life :D
Ответитьunix came first!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then linux!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьIt is super hard to get a job in cybersecurity

ОтветитьHi @UnixGuy. Will you be at b-sides Sydney next month?
ОтветитьHello, im not sure if youll be able to help but what do you think about Data engineering and management of information systems?
ОтветитьI’m in the States. I’ve applied to 6 internships for next summer. I’m 25 and no luck yet, there’s positions sure but idk what they are waiting for. I will admit that lack of projects and no certs hurt me. But I will just continue the grind.
ОтветитьThe haircut is looking FRESH🔥🔥🔥
ОтветитьI’m going to take admission in this degree? Is it good or not? Because I’m from medical background and I also hate maths. Guide me
Ответитьi applied for more then 1000 jobs, and i havnt got a single interview, idk why but i also got good experience, i have good certifications , good resume but still i get no response and no interview to the point that i gave up studying for cybersecurity a month a go.
ОтветитьCan't thank UnixGuy enough for always motivating us and giving us the blueprint to success.
ОтветитьYou shouldnt get into Ethical Hacking for the huge salary - you should have a passion for this subject and if the money follows your great work then that is a bonus.
ОтветитьThank You ! very grateful for your content.
ОтветитьHello, I am a professional with about 5.4 years in IT consulting mainly in HealthCare Tech and decided to pursue a degree in Cybersecurity and enrolled into one of the top universities in UK. However, after arriving in Sept and now in Oct I realised that the degree doesn't give me a practical experience with the modules and I am disappointed and want to quit the degree. Could you please help me on how can I get into Cybersecurity Consulting and where do I need to start?
ОтветитьThe "boreout" sounds like something that I might struggle with, so thank you for the warning. Awesome video as always 😄
ОтветитьI quit my role as an L1 SOC Analyst because all I did was escalating alerts that were triggered and following up of emails of the depts in which alerts were triggered under. And filling up excel spreadsheets of alerts triggered. No learning curve. Same daily task. I've gone back to retail now and feel more fulfilled and the job is more meaningful. Still hope to get a cybersecurity job in the future tho, just not as an soc analyst. 😅
ОтветитьThanks for not making this 20 minutes long ❤❤
ОтветитьHi can you tell in which parts of the world(continents) is cyber security mostly demanding.I myself am from pakistan and its not that demanding here.
ОтветитьI will summarise cyber security at a large corporation: paper work, paperwork and paperwork
