Thanks heaps. Most informative and to-the-point vid I've found comparing the two. Already have a brass biscuit and just bought a wooden tricone by Australian company, Bourbon St. Had to do it from interstate though (without being able to try it) so vids like yours have helped convince me.

This video was helpful in several ways, thanks for posting. For future videos, please have the two guitars in the same tuning. That will help differentiate the sound.

This is an awesome video. I would love to hear a 6 and a 12 string tricone side by side for comparison.

Hey Lenny,
I can't afford a Nat'l, but can get a Regal tricone for a lot less. Any opinion on their product?
Thanks

This is the only video I've seen so far that really lets me hear the difference. All I knew before this is that the tricone is more expensive. There are no stores within at least 200 miles from me that actually carry National resonators so I have to take the gamble of buying without playing first. I have a bid on a National tricone right now on Ebay for a good price, I hope my gamble pays off!

I've a '32 style 0. It developed a crack in the side. How is this repaired? I also want to sell it.

I just bought a brand new National square neck tri cone a month ago , and I have been a player for most of my 57 years and let me tell you friends the tri cone has put me in steel guitar heaven .I also used to own a Style O and have since sold it to buy a round neck tricone it arrives tomorrow God Bless National steel tricones!

That's the answer I was looking for. The tri-cone sounds so sweet. But if you electrify it (lipstick, piezo) what would be the return? Would the tri-cone cause more feedback?

do they have a steel resonator that has single cone and tricone qualities? Like the semi hollowbody guitar is half hollowwood and solidwood you get the best of both worlds.

"Very easily cracked or damage if you don't take good care of it." *nonchalantly tosses cone on rug* xP

nice video, very informative. it would have helped if you had tuned both instruments in the same tuning, ie. open G as the single cone... again, great job!

how exactly would a hot-rod cone sound different in a single cone? what makes it a hot-rod cone?
