Restore your old laptop, don't buy a new one!

my m11x r2 runs extremely slow on win 10 even with i7, 8gb ram and a kingston a400 ssd. any idea what’s going on? i’ve also tried every optimisation setting to speed it up, but no success :(

Great video. Just redid my thermopaste on my old Alienware 15r2. Wow the difference is crazy. It was useless at even just checking emails. Now it’s running great. They are such a well built machine. Thanks so much.

I have a m11x r1..I already upgraded my ram to 8gb,and I want to upgrade its harddrive to samsung evo 870 will it be worth it?i just want to use it to save photos and videos not for gaming..anything else that is possible for upgrade on this computer for this year?..what windows is best for this without compromising battery life..i really dont know much on computer...thanks

Thank you for the video! Great work. I had exactly the same laptop lying around and reactivated it. A great little machine, i love it. Mine is still idling at 48°C, only going up towards 80°C when gaming, like CS:GO. I installed a "unlocked" A05 bios, but don't really know what to do with the new available setting. I saw you also have an i7-2617M Processor with 1.5 GHz idle and 2.6 GHz on Turbo. The latest R3 have an i7-2637M Processor which had 1.7 GHz idle and 2.8 GHz Turbo. If you look trough all the specs sites, i think the only difference between those processors was the multiplier. Unfortunatly they are locked. The 2617M has a multiplier of 15, the top spec 2637M a multiplier of 17. All the other specs are the same. Do you have any idea how to unlock the multiplier and to overclock the 2617M to 2637M specs?

well, i dont think i can find any use of my fujitsu esprimo v5555, with a 2 core 2 thread pentium, and 4gb of ddr2, and a whopping 64mb of vram. it is heavy, it's battery last as long as 5 mins, it cant play a full hd video, and it gets really hot. when i had nothing else, i could use it in my school for light 3d design with an egpu, but it was really complicated. if someone has a laptop like this, better sell it for a school, for basic uses (like office, presentaton, etc). and you better off by buying a core-m machine from 2015-16. they are cheap, if you consider that they are convertable to tablets, with huge battery life (like up to 12h), they have extermly low power consumption (usually 4.5w base), and still able to do slight 3d design, video editing, and gaming. and you can find these for less than 200 usd.
for a laptop like in the video, yeah, those are still good, but laptops with non "core" cpus are going to be bad (even a core 2 quad).

Amazing vid ! I have a m11x r3 i5 I bought it a few years ago I'm scared to open it lol but this was very enjoyable to watch. Mine already had some decent upgrades but I'd really love to one day have the courage to open it up and do a re paste it idles at around 50-55c it's also very quick to boot up. Ive mostly been using it to play GW2 and SWTOR
