Ответитьfor new construction or remodels you can recess the fridge into the wall so it appears counter depth. I did this in my last 2 homes
ОтветитьWhat a luddite I am... I didn't even know there was such a thing!
ОтветитьMy CD refrigerator was not cutting it because the freezer was too small. After buying a larger fridge i was able to stock up on expensive food items that went on sale and freeze them. I have saved lots of money.
ОтветитьWhen there's only one person, you don't need a large r fridge
ОтветитьI keep the shallow in the nice kitchen we have and I have a large one in the basement I don't need to have all my food in one spot there's things that I use daily and things I use monthly
ОтветитьIf it doesnt fit, just cut the wall out and push it in flush. Its usually sticking out 4-6" because the doors are thick, so just use the refrigerator as your new load bearing wall and attach the drywall to the backside of the unit.
ОтветитьYou have to have a counter depth fridge if you have a narrow galley kitchen
ОтветитьI have a small tiny studio apartment. Why the hell do I need a 4 door 20 inch depth. Obviously everyone wants the giant top of the line fridge but where am I going to fit it?
ОтветитьThis is a pretty useless video for most of us. The majority of people who buy counter depth can’t build cabinets out or make other structural changes -- we’re working a more shallow fridge into an existing floor plan. Also, more inside refrigerator space doesn’t matter to many of us -- especially singles. There’s a very nice Whirlpool counter depth that my friend has had with no issues for the last several years; I just ordered one too. Model # WRQA59CNKZ; it’s 19.4 Cu Ft, which is plenty for one or two people.
ОтветитьSimilar to Parkinson's Law, people will fill the space they have, or don't have. I love having a counter depth, primarily because it doesn't stick out and look like an afterthought.
ОтветитьA few years ago when we built our kitchen we had the builder cut a hole for the refrigerator in the 2x6 wall and install a 2x4 wall that jutted out into the other room, a library. This allowed the refrigerator to extend back into the wall space just under six inches. The library has one book shelf that is a few inches less deep.
ОтветитьI hate shallow counter depth refrigerators. My sister got one and can’t fit anything in it. It’s horrible if you have kids. I really want the jennair obsidian but they don’t have it in regular depth. 😫
ОтветитьWhat not all fridges are 36. We remodeled went from 28 standard to 36 counter
Ответитьbackground music isn't necessary
ОтветитьI had to buy a counter-depth refrigerator or else I will never be able to open my drawers from a wall perpendicular to it.
ОтветитьLOVE my counter depth! Perfect size for my kitchen…looks sleek…easier to clean…less waste. Also easier for me to pull out by myself to clean the dust off the coils. I’ll never go back to a monstrous full size fridge.
ОтветитьGet the counter depth for the kitchen and the old, larger fridge goes in the garage
ОтветитьThanks for the insight
ОтветитьWe've been looking at counter depth refrigerators for our latest renovation project. After watching this video I can't help but comment on the "true counter depth" refrigerators offered by the standard retail lines such as Samsung, GE and LG. They say true counter depth but they are far from that. At best they are 30" to 32" deep. Our massive Samsung 36" refrigerator is around 34" deep. True counter depth refrigerators that you failed to mention are Sub Zero, Decor and Thermador which are in the $15,000 range and up. My wife would like a counter depth refrigerator for physical space issues due to the kitchen design but I find them way over priced and impractical. So, I agree with you on the counter depth refrigerator drawbacks.
ОтветитьGot to disagree with you on this one. I’ve had both, and I vastly prefer the counter depth for easy use as well as as appearance. More capacity just means more stuff that gets pushed into the back and it’s lost. Preiss? I don’t mind paying somewhat more. Features? Give me a break. There are already too many features to choose from.
ОтветитьThing is - I didn't want or need a bigger refrigerator in my tiny galley kitchen. My little french-door freezer on the bottom Samsung was the perfect fit. Similarly, I have an 18" dishwasher.
Ответитьwell done, thank you
Ответитьi'm with you. counter-depth refrigerators are not a good way to go. mines 35 inches and only slightly sticks out.
ОтветитьI love my FULL DEPTH refrigerator. Counter depth is insufficient for our situation and not quite worth the extra money. As mentioned in the video, IF YOU CAN, plan your kitchen accordingly to seamlessly transition the depth to match the refrigerator surroundings. IF NOT, get the depth you need and don't worry about the textured surface because it is keeping those extra goodies.
ОтветитьGive yourself a few inches behind the fridge for airflow and water line and that adds to the depth of a standard. Our old fridge is 33.5 with handles and it sticks out a good amount. We are considering switching to counter depth.
Ответитьthey built our house to only fit a counter depth fridge . Most people can only fit that size. this is a useless video
ОтветитьSo... American "Counter depth fridge" is a generic EU one?
ОтветитьThe compressor of the CD refrigerator is the same as the SD. The smaller volume means that there is less cooling load on the CD, which increases the life of the compressor, SAVING repair and Electricity costs! In some older apartments, the entry doors will accommodate only a CD unit. The smaller depth makes it easier to clean.
ОтветитьI have no choice but to have counter depth due to the layout and size of my kitchen, a standard depth would be sticking out way too far and make a corner of the kitchen counter very hard to use. I do not like counter depth though just because of how little room there is inside!
ОтветитьI love our counter depth refrigerators. Yes, they're more aesthetically pleasing, but more importantly, everything is there, front and center. Things don't get lost behind other things. And they make up for the lost space, typically, by being taller than average. refrigerators
Ответить"you're only in your refrigerator a few times a day"...lmao...wtf are you even talking about.
ОтветитьGood point but I have to actually use a counter depth since it’s 29” from the wall to the window frame
ОтветитьOops. I use the refrigerator more than any other single appliance. Then the sink and then the microwave.
ОтветитьCounter depth is 100% the way to go, in my opinion. I've had 2 so far, and I never felt like I was running out of storage space, even with my family of 5. It's also incredibly more aesthetically pleasing and convenient in the kitchen that a jumbo fridge that (literally) sticks out like a sore thumb. Much easier to clean inside too. My 2 cents: counter depth all the way - unless of course you have deeper counters and cabinetry in your kitchen (but that's pretty rare).
ОтветитьI’ve had both and you are absolutely wrong and here’s why. Counters depth refrigerator condensers are typically on top, allowing full access to the inside of the fridge. Regular refrigerator condensers are behind it, to compensate for the lack of usable space in the fridge the design them to stick out.
ОтветитьIm more a fan of deeper size. But i dont "over buy" stuff. If i buy food for the week. 95% is going to be used up. Not counting condiments or frozen food. So dont see a point in spending more on a smaller box.
ОтветитьForget throwing a pizza box in.
ОтветитьI'd love to have a bigger fridge, just don't have the room. Easier said than done.
ОтветитьWe bought the LG counter depth 3 door fridge. This is the Best Fridge we have ever owned!!! I went the other direction. I moved our fridge to the traffic side of our kitchen because of the access to a side by side original placement. To truly use a counter depth fridge I opened the sheet rock and vented it at the top. I then used FRP to finish the back wall. I also side mounted the electrical. Also I tied in the cold water to our Reverse Osmosis filter. We then finished the kitchen with soft close drawers, under counter LED light , new S/.S sink, and spray faucet. paint backsplash and more! Now we have a really Nice Kitchen. It's just my wife and I.
ОтветитьNewer house seem setup for counter depth only. If I where to put a full size one in, it would block 6” of my walking path from the garage/butler pantry. Next house I’ll figure out how to get it designed with a full double fridge setup!
ОтветитьDying to buy a CD fridge with LESS capacity. That might be part of the point! I despise my huge deep side-by side one, that is like reaching into a cavern!
ОтветитьHi saw your video on the LRFLC2706S LG counter depth French door refrigerator. What have you heard since the video are you still digging it?
ОтветитьMy space is deep enough, but the island is so close to the space that I'm not sure it would be possible to maneuver a standard fridge in.
ОтветитьIs it just me? Does anyone else have a difficult time understanding this man's speech? His words often fluctuate in volume especially lowers near the end of sentences. Frustrating because I think he has good tips with listing to.
ОтветитьThe first "negative" point here is the exact reason that I want one. I want less capacity I want the food up front not hidden The other two points follow because it's less common and that's a trade-off that I'm willing to make for now If they became more common the second two points would become less and less valid
ОтветитьAs someone who full times a $163,000 ultra luxury 5th wheel, countertop depth reefers are kinda the only option as that have to fit through door openings. Money means nothing at that point.
ОтветитьI love my CD frig
ОтветитьI just got an LG counter depth and I love it. It’s 27cubic feet so actually more room than I had before. I found using bins to keep things organized was helpful . The ice maker is in the freezer and water is in the inside of the fridge so no space it taken up in the door areas. So far I’m loving it and love the extra space it gave my kitchen !
ОтветитьI'd go even shallower than counter depth. Not for looks, for easy usage. I have 30+ inch deep space for my frig. Any normal frig will look the same. It's that finding stuff at the back of a deep frig is such a pain . I'd much rather have a wider and taller - but much shallower - machine in which I actually can find stuff than having the cheapest but poorly designed frig. It's worst when you have a top freezer (never again) and have to scootch down to find things. I stupidly listened to an appliance salesman who extolled the "virtues" of a top freezer. I hate my frig, full depth, top freezer.
