Hs player rates classic Foundations mtg cards

Rarrannis going to hate that Progenitus still sometimes sees play in Legacy in Natural Order decks. Don't know what to say, but if the deck you're facing doesn't run sweepers and tries to one for one you, this card is a pretty good middle finger

Rarran is a magic player now, he needs to stop thinking about if its playable in hearthstone, and think Magic wise when guessing cards.

I feel like the giant could absolutely work in a blue/black control deck that makes treasures. Once you get it out and it's been on the board a turn, you have _all the counterspells_.

Mono red aggro's most precious resource is indeed cards in hand. You are aiming for a victory absolutely no later than turn 5, which, even going second, means you have no more than 13 cards to play, and no more than fifteen mana the whole game to play them all, though 10 is closer to realistic with your low fraction of lands. And you cant really afford to include avenues for either.

Progenitus, the moment I see that mana cost, my immediate thought is Door to Nothingness. Make sure to show him that one -- and tell him the original wording, "Destroy Target Player"

There's two problems with Llanowar Elves:
1. If you're playing a multicolor deck, sometimes you have the elves but no green mana and you weep.
2. If you're playing mono-green, then you don't have anything good to play other than the llanowar elves and you weep

So here's the thing about scavenging ooze: you leave up one mana, and if they don't have removal, you can wait for them to try and reanimate something and then exile that in response.

The majority of magic players are 12-18 years old. So yeah its definitely still kid oriented, just not the highest level of mechanics and competitive play

together with a discard-from-hand-engine Progenitus could help avoid deckouts without ever beeing put onto the battlefield

thing about archmage of runes is if you're ahead by turn 5, you really need something to turn the corner, and if you're behind, you can't afford to tap out to look towards the future, and its effects are not strong enough to do either by itself

Progenitus is such a cool Timmy payoff, and I do kind of miss the old kitchen-table environments that you could get by with trying to pull it off. But it's really hard to try and regulate some type of intentionally powered down format, for similar reasons to the "my deck is a 7" problem, because some might take it to mean "Just the cards I have lying around, and maybe a small budget for additions" and someone else might take it as a challenge to make a ridiculous combo work, and those probably aren't going to be on the same power level.

Spider man is clearly an izzet card

Abyssal Harvester has a massive amount of potential with Agatha's Soul Cauldron but probably nowhere else.

A 1 mana dark confidant with zero downsides would be absurd in Magic. The only things that balances the peasant in hearthstone is that you can hero power it or trade into it.

I think "Chandra, Flameshaper" is a good card in dedicated "enigma jewel" deck.

Also you can reanimate this. With "builders talent" for example.

Progenitus is 100% a commander card, instead of a standard

the reason gadgetzan auctioneer was so good, because there were so many 0 mana spells or spells that could be reduced to 0 with preparation. it only saw play in rogue and beta druid in hearthstone.
there arent many cases where 0 mana instant and sorceries in standard format you wanted to spellsling.

Just a thought about demonic pact:

It's not just the combo that is good, you can also get value from the card before gifting it. And maybe you could deck in cards that allows you to sacrifice the pact for an additional benefit before it can kill you.

Kiora's good because the decks that want it can benefit from the looting ability alone because they're doing graveyard stuff anyway. The 8/8 is sugar on top. Very strong sugar.

Is CGB high? He had to THINK and CONSIDER if a 1 mana 2/1 with "at the beginning of your upkeep draw a card" would see play? That's like one of the best creatures in Magic's HISTORY, just compare it to Dark Confidant (strictly better) or Ragavan (does have other upsides but in general would be worse as hitting lands and high cost spells early is bad). The reason it's not completely busted in HS is due to most hero powers being able to kill it (trading tempo for card advantage) as well as just being able to attack it. In Magic it would be a 4-of in every deck that could play it and completely warp every format.

When I played Magic regularly, I loved zombie decks with big green creatures. No forests in deck at all, these wyrms are only coming out undead.

I think what rarran is missing with the archmage is that it will never reduce colored cards to 0. You will always pay the colored pips with that card. That was always why gadgetzan was always broken, 0 mana cards.
