Batoning is cool but have you heard about the Axe? I heard you can use it to split wood but I have never seen a bushcraft channel talk about it so it must be garbage
ОтветитьThere are MANY, MANY GREAT knives --- I have cheap Mora knives (3", 4", 6"), Knives of Alaska (D2), RAT 7's, RAT 1's, RAT 2's, Glock knives, Kershaw Camp 10 & Camp 14, GERBER Prodigy (nearly identical to Strong Arm, but $30 cheaper, and bc It's as tough as a pry bar), and various Gerber/Fiskars hatchets, and a Cold Steel Barong Machete. Why do I mention all these? Well...
SUMMARY:
Buy CHEAPER GOOD knives, buy SEVERAL, rather than "The One super-mega ultra expensive" blah, blah, blah .. because, they get dull, dirty, damaged or even broken or (gasp!) LOST in the woods.
Buy THREE of 3 models you can afford (to break/ruin/lose), buy an axe and a couple hatchets, and a Barong machete, carry only what you need for the scenario and one backup--- At the end of the day, they're TOOLS to depend upon for convenience, comfort, survival and, ultimately, peace of mind.
You're damn right on the buck guys
ОтветитьNicely attituted reviews... enjoyed it. Thanx, J
ОтветитьJust found your channel. Love it. Don’t ever change.
ОтветитьHuang fu has become go to knife i will always love bucks
ОтветитьWow. You dont have a piece of straight wood on your property. You need 3 hands to baton that stuff. Good review
ОтветитьIts a real shame you put the buck at number four because i genuinley like them more so for their look more than thier utility. I mean look at the handle and its groovy little nob at the end that pokes out and its slick glossy black look with the curvy blade i just really like the 199 and th120 respectivley.
ОтветитьIs not a glass breaker. It is for the skull.
ОтветитьI could be friends with this guy if I didn’t hate him so much.
ОтветитьSog seal pup is pretty popular
ОтветитьBuck will also replace or repair anything you ever break. Just fyi
ОтветитьTotally serious question in the most respectful way. Why do people baton their firewood instead of using a camp hatchet or little axe? Is it to get finer pieces of wood?
ОтветитьI have four out of five, bet you can guess which one that is. But I do have a SRK San ml 4.5 which is great around the camp stove. It has a good coating of natural oils, no worry about rusting.
Great job on your work up, entertaining vocabulary.
SRK Compact FDE is my new EDC, horizontal carry weak side.. So far, I really like it. The bigger one IS better but not practical for me in my city as an EDC..
ОтветитьThe SRK Compact might have been a better head to head comparison with the other knives in the group.
ОтветитьMy buck 119 guard came loose. Disappointed
ОтветитьAfter being a Buck fan for 40 years I finally got an Essee 3. I quickly tired of having to resharpen it after every use and now I'm back to Buck. Just me.
ОтветитьMy ka-bar Becker BK2 has done everything I’ve needed it to.
ОтветитьI enjoyed your sense of humor while watching your video. I was raised to keep my opinions to myself especially if you didn’t have anything positive to say. I know some people have a false sense of bravado when they can talk trash without any consequences!!! I enjoyed your presentation on the knives you selected. I still have a Camillus pilot survival knife that I received when I was 8 from my uncle who was in the Navy. I took it to Cambodia in 1970 and still use it today. I feel most people should find a knife that fits their hand and is comfortable to use… you mentioned that in your video. Then they should use it to understand what they can do with it. Thanks again for your opinions… they were accurate. I guess I’m the one who uses a belt clip for my phone, but I don’t butt-dial or have a broken screen. 👍😎
ОтветитьWhat is the difrence between a survival knife and a bushcrafting one? In the day, survival knives had fish hooks and matches in the handle. Li,e the old buckmaster.
ОтветитьStrongarm is BY FAR the best . SRK is just crap , rubber handle is junk that will get play and desagrege on real use . Strongarm is unbreakable fiberglass , perfect solid blade geometry 420hc steel , and low priced for such a quality usa made true survival polyvalent knife . I LOVE mine . Buck 119 is crap as well with a poor rat tang , parts are cheaply assembled with just a point of glue . Esee is OK but much too expensive and it rusts . S1 too expensive as well , and fragile . This review is pure SOUP. Sorry
ОтветитьIt's not a blood groove, it's a fuller and is there to lighten and strengthen the knife, not to make it easier to pull out of soft targets or allow blood to drain or anything else to do with blood. The Buck and Gerber can go straight in the garbage and the Esee is and overpriced Randall, which is who makes them, Esee only markets them. The SRK needs an edge reprofile to get optimum performance from it. And that's not a glass breaker on the Strongarm, it's supposed to be used as a striking tool when fighting.
ОтветитьOk, but why not the obvious Becker?
Ответитьjokes on jokes on jokes. great job.
ОтветитьGreat selection of knives
ОтветитьFolder bro's are like pistol bro's.. you use a pistol to fight your way back to your rifle, that you should not have put down in the first place... a $20 mora robust will beat any folder hands down.. guys who like docking love folders.
ОтветитьWell I like the Mora cause at nearly 70 years I need the orange grip to keep track of my knife! I have to use a flash light to go looking for a missing in action salt shaker or the lid for the tequila bottle.
ОтветитьThe Buck is next on my list.
ОтветитьWhen I got my Ka-Bar D2 and tried it out for the first time, it drew so much attention. 😱
ОтветитьGot the SRK and Strongarm, tried the Swede but the Strongarm is my choice out of the three and I found the handle is so comfortable, but everyone has different hands.
ОтветитьI have a Buck 119 for the same reason I have a Ka-Bar USMC; because I appreciate their place in history. Period.
ОтветитьOy, you pronounced the "k" in Fjällkniven" - Thumbs Up
ОтветитьVery informative with just the right amount of attempted humor.
ОтветитьOr....if you are dragging all your stuff miles out into the woods, an axe probably ain't making the trip.
Ответить"Blood grooves" is a silly name for something that isn't really a thing. Allowing blood to run down a controlled channel is not the purpose of what is properly called a fuller. I'm sure whoever came up with that idea were some teenagers in the 1950's. Fullers simultaneously lighten and strengthen a blade, and in a folding knife could actually be used as a grab/flip point.
Also, the strongarm (I own one) is not even in the same class as the Fällkniven. In fact none of them are. But then again I guess that's why you chose a number one, but it wasn't really a fair contest to start with. And really the criteria and testing wasn't laid out in a clear and logical fashion.
At the time you made this video Fällkniven already had versions of their knives where you could take the scales off in response to customer demand, the X series. And now they are moving up to Elmax steel. I really want one, but as you pointed out, they're kind of expensive. I can't really justify the cost, and yes, maintaining the convex grind is a bit of a concern for me.
All that aside, points for the humour in the writing and the dry delivery.
The “ whole “ uhh I stumble utter to cool for school routine of being so disinterested, of being the victim before you even started “ Millennialism is a vile mental disorder that transcends age groups “… after you recorded edited rehearsal, is so ducking stupid.. boring and vain yes - but it stupid ..
ОтветитьTactical cosplay, I love it. I call my Esse Lazer strike "lazy strike" because it's name is a bit much for ne
ОтветитьI think you're funny, and cool. Thank you
Ответитьthe only reason I wear gloves when using my knife which has a wooden handle is because my hands sweat profusely. It's to the point where I think the sweat will seep into the wood and crack it...
ОтветитьShould've compared the fde knives vs the black ones.
ОтветитьDon't like hollow ground blades and don't like 420 hc. I strip the coating off my esees and soak them in hot apple cider vinegar for about 45 minutes. Makes the rusty problem go away. If tried to break my esee 6 knife neat it into a hardwood log. Or was curved like a bow after I got it out, straighten up like nothing happened to it. I'd trust that knife to get me thru some real hardships. Stays sharp to
ОтветитьI just always headbutt the glass everytime I run off in a creek and have to bust my drivers side wimdow
ОтветитьTo hell with those people. I love your videos. Nice to see somebody joke around instead of preaching a super steel sermon. If that's what they're looking for there's plenty
ОтветитьWell I grew up on a farm in New Brunswick . We logged, hunted, fished, went camping ,
we heated the house with wood. We chopped wood we split wood.we made kindling. In my 61 years I never saw anyone use their knife to split wood. We used something called an axe or if we're traveling light a hatchet. I can tell your a seasoned pro. How many cords of wood can you split a day? Or maybe your just playing?
I literally followed you because you said you hate people
ОтветитьI prefer a larger knife when I am sure people will see me using it. Nice video.
ОтветитьMora is still my favourite 👍🏻
ОтветитьIf the rating is on value, dollar for dollar you cant beat the $32 SRK. I love the smart ass narration
Ответить😂 Hilarious and brutally honest. Good job!
