Pretty sure that the real reason why Atlus didn't wanna port p3 properly is that fes was made with renderware and that shit has a dead license + Having to animate all of femc's exclusive game cutscenes like unique sls, fmvs and the inaba trip was too much time and money spent on a port to sega. Golden was recreated on a new engine on psvita so porting that one had no issues, they couldn't release even an emulated fes and portable together because of the renderware license, other games like sonic heroes are also not on steam because of it.

Yeah I’m playing through Persona 3 for the first time right now and I’m really enjoying it a lot, but it sucks that I have to look up the cutscenes online, that I can’t travel around as I do in all the other games. Also it sucks that I won’t be able to play “The Answer” and will have to watch it online or something else.

Xbox game pass player of Persona 5 laughing at people and the price tag on steam:

Me loving Persona 3 Portable on xbox cause I play on xbox: At least you didn’t call it a Rema- nvm. We need an actual remaster for Persona 3, something like Persona 5 Royal and Persona 4 Golden, something that adds extra gameplay after the normal ending… OH WAIT, WE HAD THAT IN FES! Even though I played persona 5 first, because I once again am an Xbox player, I love Persona 3 so much more than the other two mainly cause I’ve watched persona 4 golden play through around 10 different times and think its good but not as cool as Persona 3 but definitely cooler than Persona 5, minus its bonus content because of golden. The extra semester is so much cooler than just having Marie and her dungeon. But yeah, for now, if we don’t get Persona 6 till 2050, then atleast give us persona 3 actual remaster, AND STOP GIVING THE EXCLUSIVITY TO PLAYSTATION DAMMIT!

Honestly I can't help but disagree with your take that "Persona 3 is some people's favorite Persona game and their opinion mightve changed thanks to this port"

First of all, if this game was already someone's favorite because they actually played it, then it would be dumb to assume their mind would change based off of the human error of Atlus. What people don't understand is that P3P is a port from the PSP, a game system that is over a decade old and literally ran off of miniature disc's. Expecting a one-to-one port is absolutely unfair.

Secondly, if someone based their opinion on this game off of watching a playthrough or something of the sort then that opinion is lesser than one that has actually played the game imo. What most gamers don't understand is that playing a game and watching it be played differ massively from one another.

All in all, I honestly think Atlus are still doing pretty great and I wish the port was better but, what else could they have done outside of remake the game from the ground up? P4G was made on much much superior software and hardware than the PSP.

In the end, I kind of hate it because I know this is going to be used as fuel for entitled smt players (Yes, I lump Persona fans and Smt fans together, they're literally the same fans) to shit on Atlus even more and say how they're "lazy" or "lost their edge" Atlus is still at the top of their game, and just because they've had a couple if misses doesn't make that any different.

I recently played both Persona 5 Royal and Persona 4 Golden. I received the Switch version of P5R as a birthday gift from a friend (the game released three days after my birthday). I enjoyed it so much that I decided I wanted to play the previous games as well. Admittedly I could have played P4G on my PC and another friend had recommended it to me for years, but I didn't give the game much consideration until I played P5R. I enjoyed the handheld experience so I waited for P4G to be ported to the Switch. I loved P4G just as much as I loved P5R and they're both tied as favorite games of all time. The audio experience stayed with me the most. Both games have such wonderful voice acting and soundtracks. I consider audio essential to enjoying them fully.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the recent P3P port. I was excited to play this game, but I'm so turned off from what I've seen that I haven't bought the game. The soundtrack and voice acting are necessary to the Persona experience. I can't imagine playing both P4G and P5R with subpar audio quality. This isn't even including the lack of QOL improvements to the P3P port like you mentioned. Not only is the audio quality a deal breaker for me, but the lack of skill inheritance kills any desire for me to buy the game. I like spending time in Velvet Room building powerful personas. It was fun thinking of team composition and figuring out fusion paths to get certain skills passed on to the final personas that I was aiming to build. This was the aspect in which I spent the most time.

I hope Atlus fixes the port. I know I'm a newer fan of the series, but I still look forward to playing the game one day. I want to experience P3P in a memorable and good way just like its successors.

Honestly though Golden and Royal are pretty solid ports and the majority of problems with SMT3 only remain on the switch due to hardware issues but honestly Persona 3 is just garbage atm they can patch it to be about as good as the original portable version but even then we're still missing half the game; gameplay improvements aside

Man, Atlas is screwing over the Persona fan fr even if I'm glad for all the DLC to be Included, removing other DLC's due to controversy or such just stinks. Persona 3 Portable even if it's good is not the Definitive Persona 3 as said by fans.

Honestly, I think it was just a mistake to port P3P in the first place. The 3d environments and cutscenes are really integral to the experience of Persona 3, and without them, it just doesn't feel the same. I get people say they couldn't port FES because of the "code" or whatever, but I feel like that's a pretty crappy excuse. Atlus should have tried harder to give us the definitive edition of P3 that combined the best elements of FES and Portable, instead of giving us a shitty port.

I'm never going to understand those people that will loudly announce online that they want a lower quality game. Yes, devs are people and do not deserve hate. If you buy an apple at the store and it's rotted from the inside out, you're not going to sit there and eat it all the while yelling at others for not doing the same thing. You either go back to the store to get your money back, or you stop buying apples at that store.

Video games are a luxury product, so why in the world would anyone want to spend their hard earned money on a faulty non-essential item? It's truly baffling to me.

The issue here too is that if people are unhappy about the port, they will probably do a little googling and learn about the various mods (shoutout p3 new moon) that already exist for the game. We have a controllable party member mod for fes, the PSP is one of the easiest consoles to mod you can run p3p on virtually any android device made in the last 5 years.

Mates, Atlus is a huge corporation that has more money that you'll smell through your entire live and yet you excuse them taking all art through some waifu2x that probably some fan already did for P3 in a week or less? C'mon, you're the consumer you're justified to have demands as they are trying to sell stuff to you not the other way around. "But now you can play P3 Portable on PC." Dude... You could all this time via emulation with PPSSPP. Or just emulate P3FES. Stop justifying lazy companies using AI upscaling and selling the same stuff again for the premium price.

Everything is possible, but I think the problem is resources and pricing. There are many ways and concerns, for example:
- Barebone port for $20 game.
- Both FES and P3P port for $40 (which may not profit because people may buy only either of these).
- merge two games altogether. Maybe $40 if Altus make by themselves (but may use 1-2 years) or hire outsource by price may bump up to $50. This is my preferred choice, but it's a risk.
- Full-scale remake for $60 but use 3-4 years. Honestly, I prefer P6 over doing this.

Therefore, They choose the cheapest way. A bit sad. I still prefer to merge two games with dependable outsourcing (I know Altus, only a small company, and I prefer P6 more than the P3 remake), but again, it maybe a bit pricey and risky.

Playing the persona 3 portable port recently was my first time ever playing persona 3. I have a question for people who’ve played it in the past. At times there were moments where it showed like pictures of the cast (like when they had sushi to celebrate), were the pics that low res in the original too? Looked like pixels

Ight so I am a newbie when it comes to this. But when I played royal I felt that I should play the others ones (once I finish royal of course) I decided to do portable and saw it was getting a port to my console (Xbox one) so I waited and when it did come out I played it for about 15 minutes and uninstalled it and installed Golden instead and had much more fun then I did with portable in the beginning. So what did this me typing this accomplish. To tell you that yeah this video is definitely correct

Kind of glad I got to play Persona 3 FES when I had the chance (on the PS3). That game introduced me to Atlus’s games right when I was losing faith in Square Enix, and while it would still be interesting at some point to play P3P for the female protagonist, I can’t say I would be the Atlus fan I am today if I played Portable instead of FES as my first Persona game.

I honestly can't help but constantly be disappointed in Atlus with every release. I know a lot of people like these games but I don't. Let me explain how I was introduced to the Megaten games first though because a lot of people like to say that I am just biased towards the first games I played or saw. First of all it should be noted Persona 4 was the first game I saw and the person I saw playing it was rude when I asked questions. It immediately turned me off of P4 for a long while as I genuinely refuse to give money to anything that draws people like that. I can only think at that point that the game itself is one that draws those types of people which means I won't like it. Persona 4 Golden was the LAST game I purchased for myself despite being the FIRST game I saw. The first purchased Megaten game would have been SMT 4 or 3 as I got them at the same time. People hyped up SMT 3 so much that I was excited to play it and I enjoyed it. SMT 4 was lame in my eyes because their system either meant you won or you lost with ease depending on whether or not you got ambushed in combat. The game was simply too easy and I didn't even intend to make it that way or play like that on purpose. The only time there was any real challenge was when I fought a few bosses and whenever I was surprised I simply lost before I could do anything. It didn't seem good to me and the story was very meh. Then someone got me to look into emulation again as a whole slew of translation patches dropped for a metric ton of games and a metric ton of games dropped as well completely bug fixed even. So I started looking around and found Persona 2 Eternal Punishment. Later I would also find they released it's prequel Innocent Sin on PSP in a playable format. So now I played Persona 1 and 2. People kept saying I would hate them and honestly Persona 1 only had the weakness of having a meh story, otherwise it was good. Persona 2 was like a roided up crack injected version of Persona 1 and I loved it. Especially Eternal Punishment. I really enjoyed those games and went on to play some really old games on an SNES emulator for SMT and MT. Which brings me to something I cannot fathom today. After playing those older games, original and remasters like Kyuuyaku, I cannot say I enjoy any of the newer ones nearly as much or even at all in many cases. With the exception of the Kuzunoha Raidou games. SMT 5 only sits as an okay game, definitely an improvement on 4 for me but not great on it's own. P3-5? Merely okay at best and most of the time annoying. I cannot explain this phenomenon but nostalgia is simply not strong enough to save the newer titles in the franchises for me.

My favourite Persona is Persona 3. I really like the ending and how the Answer ending ends up, it's a sad ending but it's memorable for me, giving me hope for the next generation of Persona gonna somehow connects to them, like thankfully Persona 4 Arena did.

I highly disappointed for them to release Portable and not FES, on top of that they also messed up the game by a lot.

I saw that persona 3 portable and persona 4 had been recently put on the PlayStation store in a bundle and decided to grab them using some of the money

Speaking as someone who hasn't actually played those games if the worst thing offender is the audio and some of the art looks blurry I think I can look past that

This isn’t strictly related to the topic of the video, but you mentioned people saying that those of us who want more from the P3P remaster are acting entitled. I’ve noticed this mindset becoming disturbingly common across the entire gaming landscape, and I’m really struggling to understand why. It seems like these people feel bad for the developers. I’m well aware that it’s never okay to harass people who are just trying to do their jobs, but there’s a difference between making things personal and insulting individual people, and pointing out when a company is doing something the community doesn’t like. I think it’s okay to say that many of the developers probably did the best they could with this project while also acknowledging that it still didn’t meet the level of quality that it should have.

Just wanted to put that out there.

See, to me this says that ATLUS really doesn't care about P3 all that much anymore. Just as P2 was forever lost in the shadows of P3 and P4, P3 I feel will soon suffer the same fate, being forever lost (except to its diehard fans) in the shadows of P4 and P5. It feels more like a port made out of obligation rather than one made out of a desire to make a quality port.
