You’re responsible for your partner’s safety but she chooses to stand on a train track with a train coming towards her. Do you have the authority to push her off the train track?

If you have the responsibility to protect her, then you have the responsibility to push her off the track. To do that you need the authority. Without the authority to do it, you’re no longer able to do it. Therefore, you no longer have the responsibility to do it.

If you do have that responsibility, you must have that authority. You can’t perform that responsibility without the authority.

I finally got Tate's point. If his point is how I interpreted it, it is pretty sensible. Basically, Tate says he has authority over his woman's protection, which is not an outrageous claim to make as he is a world champion in kickboxing, so protection is kind of his thing. If we want to build a bridge and there is an engineer in the room, we wouldn't dispute that he is the authority at this moment. So if Tate's girlfriend wants to keep herself safe, he is the authority, at this moment.

Since when is it any man’s responsibility to think for a woman? We (women) don’t need a man’s superior judgement of our situations to ensure our safety. If we did, then we would be Intellectually inferior- which IS what he is saying. THAT is the real problem. It’s not the assumption of Authority that is the issue…it’s the Why behind the authority over a woman to ensure her protection. He believes women are intellectually/morally inferior and therefore incapable of making the best decisions concerning our own personal protection. The men is supposed to protect the family and if they women wants to put the family at risk then she can go and face the consequences.
