FWIW, it would be helpful if you would say what barras or major streets you are walking through on your real street videos.

BTW, not to nit-pick (but yeah....here I go lol).......the barra is called Vila Madalena - not Vila Magdalena. I was making that mistake all the time and my Brazilian girlfriend finally starting correcting me LOL.

Also, I would confuse Vila Madalena with Vila Mariana. They're both are nice barras. Although, I prefer Vila Madalena. I'm staying over in the good part of Pinheiros when I visit in November.....just a few blocks from where you were walking. But there, a few blocks is like a different city sometimes.

BTW, since you're in Vila Madalena, try Madeleine Jazz Bar & Boulangerie on Rua Aspicuelta next to Florinda Café e Cozinha and across and down a little from Raw N Bar. Good jazz, good drinks and tasty food in a cool setting....even on a weeknight.

you should go to Beco do batman (Batman's Alley) on Vila Madalena. This is a tourist destination with a lot of graffiti that line the streets.

Bro I'm from São Paulo. That's the neighborhood of Pinheiros, that's actually a middle class area. Not even close to a Ghetto.

The park you were at is called "Largo da Batata (Potato Square lol)". This used to be almost an abandoned place in the middle of two great neighborhoods (Jardins/Itaim and Pinheiros). It´s been a few years that they are trying to renovate the are (you can see that by the big office buildings), but it still is a place with a lot of homeless people and ugly shops. By the way, the government did a horrible job in the architecture of this park.

But the good part: you can find nice bars and restaurants in the area (the bars are more "alternative/hipster"), and it is not a dangerous area as it looks like.
