In Italy it rains just 2-3 days per year and there are around 360 full sunny days per year. 30°-40° Celsius summer lasts 8 months from March to October included and December-January is always sunny averaging 15° all days so I think those panels could output 8000% more money in Italy since in Italy there are only 3-4 cloudy days per year

"Keeping us on pace to pay itself of in 6.5 years"
You are wrong, because you have to factor in the fact that if ANYTHING goes wrong with your roof from now on, you are out double, or triple the cost as a result of the solar panels. A shingle roof replacement is easy, removing and putting back solar panels? Not cheap, and will run more than what you paid for them.
Enjoy the scam train.
Then again, what not one tells anyone is that solar panels lose 1-3% efficiency PER YEAR! Not a single person wants to talk about this one.

When I installed my panels here in Ireland almost two years ago, the government allowed up to a 6Kw grid tied system, now they have dropped that to 5Kw. So if I wanted more to export more, I couldn't. My inverter is able to handle a 9Kw array, but can still only export 6Kw max... They kind of went backwards with that... Also only introduced the buy back credit this year and it is half of the day rate fee...

You can technically do up to 11Kw grid tied system here, but you need special permission to do so and it costs a couple of grand just to get a piece of paper saying you can, not worth it...
Different again for businesses...

Why did the hailstone get kicked out of the solar panel party?

Because it couldn't stop cracking jokes about how easily it shattered their expensive dreams of endless sunshine savings!

I pay $0.16 where I live in Nova Scotia Canada. One thing I struggle with is my roof is 15 years old (and hopefully has another 10 years of life left) and I don’t want to have to pay to replace it prematurely if I went ahead with a solar panel installation. I don’t think I have enough room for a ground installation.

Interested to see what the actual lifespan of the roof and panels will be.

Here in TX people get their roofs replaced pretty often due to hail. I would be concerned about having higher premiums and having to get that thing replaced every 7 years or so.

But to make these solar panels, you have to mine the rare earth metals, spend tons of energy to extract those minerals and the manufactoring of solar cells releases harmful gases, worse than CO2 and ofcourse also release C02, plus demage the ecosystem where they are extrated and guess where the industrial waste gets dumped, into our seas or landfilling and eventually seeps into our underground water, plus these panels are not for eternity, after 30 years its an e waste that gets dumped again in the environment and e waste is harmful, and list keep going on and on, why not use the coal at the first place if someone wants to continue spending energy.

I want a system that is grid tied (connected to the grid), but will also operate autonomously (has batteries), and I want to take advantage of the tax break. All of the solar system installers have a one size fits all (or a slight variation of one system) and I have not seen one that will operate without being connected to an active utility.

To summarize some stuff I’m seeing in the comments:
1. Your fuel isn’t free with an EV, it’s just charged at your house, and (depending how much your drive) averages to be about 20% less on a monthly average
2. Average cost to remove and reinstall solar panels (for a new roof) is $200-$350/panel nationally. SIDE NOTE HERE: Installing solar panels artificially Ave the roof by about 2-5 years via foot traffic, breaking the tar bond, etc..
3. Average solar payoff is between 7-10 years. This depending on pitch, and if you have a southern facing plain
5. Is solar good for environment? That’s a debate. I choose to say they’re net-neutral on a large scale. However, my biased opinion is that they’re a small net-positive

Conclusion: Solar isn’t for every home. EV’s aren’t for everyone. If you want it, decide why and weigh the costs/benefits. Remember: you don’t have to justify how you spend your money to anybody

Youll pay it off in 6.5 years. 9 years later youll need a new roof and the roofer will charge you 30 to 40k more to deal with the solar. Also in some states you cant even insure your house now as the panels catch fire. I wouldnt recommend them.

You see green house gases are being caught and causing a global cooling. If we dont stop this, th earth will go through an ice age. Oh wait that was the 80s, i meant global warming. Oh wait thats the 90s. Climate change. Climate change is the reason.

Except tax incentives are only good if you can actually take advantage of them. Don't pay enough taxes and you lose whatever you can't claim.
