I just realized: given how we would’ve gone back to the ice canyon, we would’ve been able to fight the Niflheim Berserker and Hrolf WITH Atreus. But in the final game, the last two Berserkers are only accessible AFTER finishing the main story; which is a bummer, because I would’ve liked the game had given us the options to fight the Berserkers with either Atreus or Freya. And me personally: I find Atreus’ runic summons more useful than Freya’s :p

Hm... I could picture some of these assets being reused as DLC if this was made by different devs. Santa Monica seems to be avoiding direct DLCs for GoW, likely after they went overboard back in Ascension.

Why the fuck would they cut off this much story?

Atreus went to search for gigants. Maybe, instead of dlc we will get VR game like horixon forbidden west

I think they could have made the scene happen but they would need to complety scrap alot of it. Its where her and sutur would combine to teach Atrues a imporant lesson about love and or us the viewer.

Though it is romantic already i could be alot more and maybe created more deph for his charater.

It's really strange to think about it, yes what Surtr did was selfless of him but at the same it's also selfish. He wanted to keep his beloved safe but by doing so he made her suffer through the experience of losing him and keep living on without him.

Sorry, I know I'm missing something here but what exactly did Kratos lie about to Surtur? Anyone care to explain?

I wish the game was longer

Honestly i understand the choice. If atreus was so vengeful it wouldnt have made sense for him to stop sindri from attacking thrud or fro. Doing her in himself or even pitying the midgaurdians and probably dealing with the swedish guy ( i cant spell his name.. i tried) where he becomes vengeful against Atreus and hunts them once he becomes king. But at the end this might have been deemed a bit too much. Kratos did kill a lot of innocents but no innocents with charector devolopment. So actually harming these charectors was a wrong direction. So the whole closing ur heart was wrong lesson was taken to ragnarok instead.

Wait so does this mean if they do the same with Samara that would make another Ragnarok

I actually like this version of the story. Does it detract from Atreus’ character? Maybe in terms of maturity and at a late point in the game. However, it feels like the story would feel more tragic and I think that cut content would make Atreus’ conflicted feeling toward the midgardians in asgard make more sense and provide an opportunity for him to resolve that conflict and offer redemption.

We need a Directors cut version of god of war ragnarok

I think now with the DLC rumors, Ragnarok is coming (literally) after seeing these epilogue dialogues in there, hidden.

They took out literal storyline dialogue that woukdve made the game more engaging, and opted to have you pick fruits and solve a puzzle every 10 seconds...

I hate how the Ragnarok beast proved completely useless at the end. At least this would have given it some actual depth and even more depth to Atreus too

they should put all the cut content in to the dlc just redesigned and remade for the dlc where it takes place in a split timeline

i see why they cut this and I'm glad they did. it would have detracted a lot from the story, right at the end when they couldn't build it back up. the story we got is far better than this would have been.

Maybe she might appear in the third part sequel of the norse mythology of god of war phase 2 norse mythology along with other characters who didn’t have they’re opportunities to be in the game such as Ymir, Kvasir, Idun, Vidal, Njord, Hodr, Bragi, Ullr and Hela

But it would make no sense. Sure, the surtr part made no sense but how would you make the ragnarok beast with sinmara? Another thing that made no sense is that why would kratos let atreus leave and find giants when he was lying to another giant? kratos wouldn’t have done it.

I always thought the ending war was pretty rushed, it felt weird to me, like everything was happening too fast, unlikely but I wish they would do a final fantasy 15 and just add the cut content into the game

i am sure god of war would have been even better if it would have been 2 games and not 1 game like it is not that it is bad but i do wish they did 2 games for a total of 3 games cuz more god of war wouldnt have been a bad thing lol

It sucks cause the group ended up not even wanting him there in the end. There was no reason for them to be apart, or "join together". They could have ignored fate and just been happy

Ragnarok is a long game but i think this cut content helps make Niflheim and Muspelheim have more impact on the plot instead of how they are treated like bonus areas in the first game

maybe, just maybe it's not Ragnarok that comes back when the two hearts are placed at the spark of the world but both Sutur and Sinmara instead?

Ragnarok really has a rushed ending, and this clearly massive section of cut content shows. There's an entire portion of the revenge character arc for Atreus that is pretty much not in the game as we know it now. I have to believe it was either budget restrictions or the game devs just getting tired. Ragnarok is already a 35-40H game on a semi completion playthrough. The game is exhaustingly long so I see why it was cut

Poor Sinmara, she didn't even get a chance to say goodbye to Surtr, after the sacrifice the two of them had made by being separated for eternity, they didn't deserve that ending.

I would have liked that before doing anything SM would have given us the opportunity to talk to her and see if there was any other alternative, and at least that she knew what Surtr was going to do. Definitely a Greek tragedy, with a very sad ending, always touch my heart when I go there and hear her crying inconsolably

This should of been kept. And finding their hearts as the post game mission with the real secret ending

Then the start of the 3rd game could of been the return of ragnarok during a time skip, and young adult Artreus (MC) finds Kratos fighting the beast (tribute fight to the original giant fights of the old trilogy), but dying in that fight to kickstart part 3. 2 things now occurs: that no matter what, one cannot cheat fate and 2, Arteus is indirectly responsible for the events that lead to this chilling moment. And have Ragnarok as a midgame big boss

It’s probably due to covid they had to make cuts like this. but this game needed this mission at the end to feel more fleshed out. It was to focused on the second act for a game named ragnarok. They even kinda explain this when kratos visits the Norns. They say the common mistake in story telling is to focus on the second act to the exclusion of the 3rd. If there is a hidden plan for a 3rd game in the Norse world. This game would make a perfect sequel.

The thing is no matter which way we go about it no one is going to be really happy with this game, there will always be people going they should've done this, or this, even more so with Ragnarok coming and going quickly. I;m sorry do you expect the end of the world to drag on forever or do you feel like it'll be gone in a flash. I guess that is a matter of opinion, Ragnarok as depicted isn't supposed to be dragged out it's supposed to come and go quickly if you actually go read up on it and not just go by a game.

If they would've went with Original Prophecy, Kratos would've died. He lived cause as always, he defied Prophecy.

ironically Atreus tricking Sinmara into becoming Ragnarok to destroy Asgard is such a Loki thing to do..
