Fantastic work!
ОтветитьI remember watching WhoLock all those years ago and being so impressed by all the hard work and dedication. Come back to find out that you worked on all of these amazing shots for Doctor Who??? Super beautiful and I am so proud of you!!!
ОтветитьSad that such talent was waited on this….
ОтветитьSometimes the best work are those indistinguishable from reality, hidden in plain sight.
I've been in love with your work since the first video and I can't wait to see more of it.
(If the Corridor Crew ever do a deep dive on Doctor Who VFX, it would be fun to see you on the couch for the breakdowns.)
It's so sad that he doesn't work in Bad Wolf now....
He could make Nscuti era a lot better
Chibnall’s era had many flaws but it contained by far the best and highest quality visual effects of Doctor Who ever.
ОтветитьThere aren’t enough wonderful adjectives to describe this. Thank you for sharing this with us.
I loved seeing William Harnell reincarnated. ❤
That Tardis vortex scene in Twice Upon A Time I could tell was yours
ОтветитьStunning. Not only hands-down the best special effects Doctor Who has ever seen, but without doubt some of the best science fiction special effects on ANY TV show. Most of the CGI is so good I didn't even spot it! With the greatest of respect, I didn't like the Chibnall era at all, but honestly, I tuned in many times just to see the special effects. Many incredible shots not shown in this reel but I assume you did them because of the quality!
Ответитьimagine being the guy who did the regeneration effect, that's so cool
Ответитьcoming here again and have to say the writing in Jodie's era is weak but the visuals is way better than Ncuti's era. I'm still impressive how high budget Flux looks but is low budget comparing to Disney era that looks cheaper than this.
ОтветитьHOW MUCH DO THEY PAY YOU??
the stuff that normally costs $70000 and several TEAMS all casually done by 1 person??? HOWW????
and all done SOLO FROM HOME??
i am shocked.
What program did you use?
ОтветитьThis is INCREDIBLE. I can't believe you actually got to work on the show that's fantastic!
Ответитьincredible!
ОтветитьI love the title sequence of this era. Despite everything bad about the era, the vfx was amazing.
ОтветитьSehr schade das fast alles nur cgi ist, auch wenn es nicht schlecht aussieht. praktische effekte sind immer besser.
ОтветитьAwesome John, I dream I can do what you do, but I have very little experience. Thnx for the entertainment.
ОтветитьI adored the regeneration effects in the Whitaker era, you killed it.
ОтветитьOH MY GOD OU MADE THE BEST SCENE SI COULD REMMEBVERRRRR
ОтветитьYours is the best regeneration effect of them all.
ОтветитьSorry, but something about this reel doesn't seem to add up. I know a CG generalist can usually take on lots of areas of the pipeline, but there are vastly different disciplines shown here. It would be really useful to have the elements of the shot listed somewhere that you actually did rather than just showing the footage.
ОтветитьThe best the show has ever looked. They've now got one million dollars per episode and yet it still looks considerably worse than this. We miss you John Smith, good luck in future ventures. You are an amazing artist.
ОтветитьI just have to say that as a fan since the 1980s, my absolute favourite visual effects have been in Jodie's run so I'm delighted to see this video and simply say thank you for such beautiful work
ОтветитьOnly legends know who “John Smith” really is.
Ответитьsome of the best visuals the show has EVER had, came from you, well done
ОтветитьCool but I like the 6th Doctors CGI because it looks funny.
ОтветитьAll of these are just so good. So incredible to look at
Ответитьwe need you back to Doctor Who!!!!!
ОтветитьImagine getting to work on the last VFX shot for Nu-Who..
ОтветитьEvery few months I think about this video, and watch it again. Such a gorgeous collection of VFX. We Doctor Who fans were so lucky to have someone of your talent working on the show - not just in technical skill, but in amazing creative artistry. I think Thirteen's regeneration is the most beautiful-looking shot in all of Doctor Who, and it will take a lot to surpass it.
ОтветитьYou are a legend, full stop.
ОтветитьIf tptb had made this compilation and showed it 4 years ago, during Jodie's tenure, I'm sure it'd be far more popular. Instead we only know the boring companions and poor storylines.
Well done on being a success story, going from a fan to a full Dr Who staff member
How did ya make this?
ОтветитьYou are positively a VFX genius! I would pay top dollar to learn from you if i had any.
ОтветитьVocê é FANTÁSTICO cara
Ответитьthats insane for one person, still it should look better for such a huge TV show in my opinion.
why didnt they hire a proper team for this? sure not all shots were done by just one person but they could look so much better when a whole team would have worked on it.
Much as I disliked 13, I always gave her props for a beautiful regeneration shot. Now I know why 😅
ОтветитьI'm BEGGING to have you return to work for Doctor Who
ОтветитьLooks like he's still at it in the 60th, the regeneration effects are very similar to his
ОтветитьWhy not join Bad Wolf Studios? You're an asset to the show.
ОтветитьI remember watching your fan made VFX years ago, it's insanely inspiring to see that you've gone on to work for the official show, and this demo reel is outstanding!
ОтветитьCome back here, straight after the David’s return to the show, where you also responsible for the new intro!!!! It looks so coollll
Ответитьbeautiful work thankyou
ОтветитьAstonishingly beautiful work. Every single frame of it. Your work helped define the era of my Doctor. Thank you.
ОтветитьLooking at the older videos of people saying “BBC should hire him and do the VFX” makes me wonder if they ever found out they actually did. Bet they be gushing so hard. 😊
