Or do a hard start like Restless Raid for the Vikings Mod or Mercenaries for the Insectoid Expanded mod but start only with children.

Terrible rimworld idea: playing in a high tech setting with techy or mutant enemies, but you only recruit melee fighters. Vibrosword or whatever is okay, enhancements to build speed or toughness, so long as you don't wield cowardly ranged weapons. Call it london sim.

U should try out the mantodeans mod, it's a bit op, you could grow a swarm of hundreds of insects for the price of literally just food. Unfertilized mantodean eggs laid by the queen is just proccessed food, mutagen is just processed food, mantodean jelly is just processed food, you basically can make a force that could dwarf a cataphract legion with just rice

This video really showed the power of CE combined with vehicles - in my personal experience, a lot of the vehicles are actually really underpowered due to how vanilla's armor and accuracy calculation work; too often do the guns on vehicles miss all but a few of their rounds, and they take an absolute beating from basic weaponry. It seems when paired with semi-realistic elements of CE, they swing comically in the other direction of being unstoppable killing machines.

Since you specifically asked for stupid ideas, how about playing rimworld in a perfectly moral and ethical fashion? No war crimes, no eating people etc etc.

i really do love the more mountain like playthroughs.
I suggest doing a clone cannibal type playthrough. where you pick 1 person and repeatedly clone him and he is your sole food source and slave laborer. so like half the base be your fancy lookin settlement and the other half with all the hazards that may literally blow up in your face in including where these clones would work, adjacent to the fancy area make the cloning lab and clone butchery.

will they revolt? will this be a horrible idea? probably because if the clone/clones die then no more food.
