Ответитьproperty taxes are theft
ОтветитьWish I had won the lottery, I'd buy the idiots like city slicker out, and save the ancestral homes and keep the culture alive.
Don't sell anymore!! Not all progress is progressive!!
Savannah GA still has a STRONG Gullah Geechee people presence amen
ОтветитьPin Point in Savannah still holding on
ОтветитьPure Africans
ОтветитьThis is absolutely disgusting all money ain’t good money you sell out.
ОтветитьThe gov't should protect the lands for the people
Ответитьcan the Gullah formalize their land ownership? aren't there ways to stop the massive selloffs by 1 person in the family to sell all the land.
ОтветитьSTRONG AFRICANS
ОтветитьIn the county I was born in, carteret county in NC, there were two brothers that didn’t want to sell their family land to a developer and spent 7+ year in jail under a contempt of court. 7 years with no charge, just a judge trying to break these men and they finally were let out maybe a year ago.
ОтветитьPerhaps leasing the property to land developers for 100 years or more would benefit the Gullah Geechee Nation.
Ответитьhes a slick person i wasborn in NYC and raised in Orangeburg sc he is the devil
ОтветитьI’m headed there end of this month while we still can.
ОтветитьAre they Muslim? At the end he recite the al-Fatiha
ОтветитьI watch Gullah Gullah island as a kid and come to find out my grandma and great grandma are geechi
ОтветитьGrew up spending summers on John’s island with my family and the reason I loved being there is because it felt like a land removed from time in a way. As time goes on it’s getting more and more like Hilton head and it really makes me sick to my stomach. During reconstruction and the early 1900s white folk let us buy the land nobody wanted and now they’re circling like buzzards to get it back.
ОтветитьIf you know American African History you know that the black Seminoles are the Gullah Africans that decided to stay here, although quite a few of them, a majority, did return to Africa! First settlers on the east coast as independent Africans after slavery! They brought the indigo plant here! Gullah facts
ОтветитьI've heard Gullah spoken as well as English with a Gullah accent. What privilege for me.
ОтветитьAse
ОтветитьThese ppl are not Africans! They are native to this land! They are Indians!
ОтветитьGullah and Geechie ppl does not speak the language of any cultures in the continent of Africa! If so...what country? What tribe?
ОтветитьVegetables such as corn, collard greens are not grown in any parts of the continent of Africa. They were never West Africans...they from the Carribian Islands!
ОтветитьHas anyone ever placed restrictive covenants on the property that would make it undesirable for development? A restrictive covenant could prevent development.
ОтветитьWhat an amazing piece of history, and beautiful people and traditions. I hope you hold onto everything tightly for many more generations of Gullah.
ОтветитьOne focused on amassing & enjoying worldly wealth tends not to care about anyone outside of his bubble (essentially having a Let The Poor Eat Grass attitude).
Keep on praying, Folk - & act wisely if you can (& remember that eventually YHWH our God shall avenge; for, vengence belongs to Him).
✝️😎👍
History repeats itself!!!! White folks running the natives off their land!!! For little or nothing!!!
ОтветитьHow sad to put real estate development ahead of historic culture!
Isn't there any congressional or national protection law to save such a beautiful way of life?
I hope those attorneys for this remarkable Gullah community can save this esoteric way of life!!!
Those Gullah geechee was on those island before the Europeans ever step foot in America. Learn your history.
ОтветитьThey used him as the face to work with the gullah to remove them from their land.
ОтветитьThey bought land DURING the civil war. Those enslavers knew they was outnumbered on an island and fled fast. ✊🏽✌🏽
ОтветитьAdolf Brown is a sellout and a cancer to his own people. I pray for judgement of Yahuah to fall on you.
ОтветитьI miss Vice News
ОтветитьColonialism never seems to die - it just takes on new forms.
ОтветитьThis the last of our culture island. we should have been i wondered why speak the way I do
ОтветитьIT’S REALLY SAD HOW THESE white CONTINUE TO TAKE THE LANDS OF OUR BLACK PEOPLE, and CALL IT RENOVATION..!
We R TIRED OF THESE FOOLS TAKING OUR LAND..!!
Community Land Trust!
ОтветитьQueen Quet got a banging lil body on her. No cap
ОтветитьI can't imagine being the 10th generation to never leave town. Never go to the city. Not go college and make something in a career. Small towns are great. But do you (I am black) really wanna stay there forever? As a young adult? Like 15th generation? My family is from everywhere. Do you really want to hold on to a tradition that's probably improvised because it got lost in translation after 300 years of slavery? You wanna live in the land they never could leave? Wouldn't it be better to.... Leave and do what they couldn't....?
ОтветитьThe families are selling it isnt being taken from them and it isnt due to anything but people seeing money and having mo true care about past lives and history they have the same greed they claim the white man too.
ОтветитьCan they get deeds drawn up to legally protect these lands? This is nothing short of a travesty.
ОтветитьSo basically no one individual owned the land they lived on is what I'm hearing 😢. Which makes it easier to sell off.
Right or wrong we live in an individual consumeristic society. Whenever possible you strive to be the owner and not the renter.
😢 sad.
ОтветитьThey should just invest in tourist attractions
ОтветитьI’m 18 but the more time passes, the more I find “progress” ugly and vile
ОтветитьStay in de field ❤❤ reminds me of my great grandma
